I have a Alesis Vmini and when i get into the software the velocity wont save at all. pls hlp thx
Great video...I have the Alesis V61 and when I lay a beat down I get these double notes sometimes. Is there any way to stop the controller from doing that? Is there something in the Editor I can turn off? Thx!
Can the pads tell which part of the pad you're hitting? On FPC in FL you can load multiple samples on 1 pad. You can then trigger different samples according to where you click like top and bottom. So I'm curious if a pad on a hardware device could trigger that same effect. That would be great because I just ordered the Vmini and it only has 4 pads. This is my first MIDI keyboard/controller so I'm not sure how these things work yet.
So can you edit to your liking and then use your software and make you song or what ever and then change (edit) to something else and continue the song
Just got this controller and seems like it’s gonna work for my application. I’m really only interested in playing live and to use an external sound module. I liked the idea of the 36 switches/buttons to select ‘programs’ or ‘performances’ on the sound module.
Currently I don’t have the external sound module yet and am working through Ableton live. What beats me is that I can arm a midi track using a button, but have to click it 2 more times to get it to disarm. And then two more times to arm again. I’ve tried every setting for the switch: toggle, program change and momentary with different settings for on and off, but nothing changes. I haven to click once to arm and 3 times to properly disarm ready for another arming. And the light will be on even when armed or not.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I just got this Keyboard today and faced the same trouble as I was assigning some shortcuts and macros to the switches. I found a fix. In the editor, select input and output as MIDIIN2(VI49) and MIDIOUT2 (VI49). Go to the switches tab and keep it in the default CC Toggle mode for all switches. Now set both the Toggle On and Off values as 127. Hope this helps!
Is there a way to reset the VI61? The last 6 knobs are not working on my keyboard, maybe a reset would fix this. Thanks for the video!
Hey Bro . Is there anyway to control the led lights of the drumpads like they have on V25 ? can't seem to do it on VI25
has to put the function transpose that increases the tonality in this controller atraver of the program

@@mastas7My interpretation of the "Aftertouch" was you touch a control on screen with your mouse and then it becomes active and you can then use the physical knob to control that digital control on the screen. But I tried it and it didn't do that. In fact it does nothing. A shit piece of crappy software that makes zero sense and a shit manual that clearly isn't fit for purpose.
Correction it does work like that but only for certain selections in the drop down. BUT. There is no rhyme or reason to it. So still pretty useless. 😂😂😂
Would this keyboard accept CC commands from an external controller to change MIDI channels the keyboard is transmitting on?
I don't think so, the only midi in is via usb from a computer
It seems like the most important part of how to use this software comes after you enter all the changes you want to make to the various parameters. After I make all the changes I want, then what? Saver Preset to Hard Drive? Or do I Send Preset to Hardware? Or both? Should I Get Preset From Hardware BEFORE I make any changes? ...... How do I apply and save the changes I just made?

Does Alesis VI61 work with an iPad? Is it compatible?
Got a similar editor. I'm using the Alesis VMini. I'm trying to assign the Sustain button to activate the Record button. Another forum said the CCs are Stop - 116, Play - 117, Rec - 118. In your editor, the defaults are showing as Stop 118, Play 119. I tried them all but nothing seems to work. Can you please verify that your buttons are doing what their supposed to with their CC configuration? Thanks!
for those functions you will probably have to midi learn in your DAW.

When I change what note the drumpads are it doesnt actually change anything in real time in ableton or at all it seems. I wish this software could at least show when pads or keys are pressed at least.
the alesis firmware updater is not recognizing my keyboard ? i did everything it said to do , i updATED THE DRIVERS AND STILL NO SUCCESS ANY HELP ???

I'm trying to set up the transport buttons in Fl Studio, is there any information you know how to solve this?
For example my "Fast Forward Key" on the keyboard is used in the DAW as the stop button and the "Stop" button on my keyboard is translated to the Record button in my DAW, I'm just trying to see how to map the buttons out correctly

You did not expplained much...you just installed the editor software..but for example what is afteertouch ? what does it do ? what are your preset , what is the difference between CC en momentary or whatever I forgot ..
those things are not specific to this software, those are elements of Midi and how that works maybe I will explain this on the channel at some point.
If you had defined what settings ( i.e cc , aftertouch , cc momentary ) are this would have helped most people. Instead, @jamalmortimer, what you did was read the settings.
I have the V25 and ive downloaded the alesis V25 editor but the controller is not mkaing any sounds and I have no clue why, any suggestions on why that is?
I think you need to have it connected to a computer.. it doesnt seem to have any sound output itself. I have it connected to my macbook.. downloaded garage band and sound comes through my MBP speakers.

depends on how you hit the pads i would sat try changing the response curve till you find what works for you, what each number means is in the manual
For me I use the "8" curve on the drum pads because I struggle to hit them hard enough and the "8" curve just outputs maximum velocity so I don't have to worry about it. However it's all personal preference.

@@jaypay3502 Its only a digital MIDI keyboard controller. It doesn't have any sounds. It's like your computer keyboard. You can't do anything without plugging the keyboard into a PC. Download a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) and get some plug in instruments and then you'll drive some great sounds. I love this keyboard. It works great.

could be a lot of things, do you hear other audio in your daw?

@@jaypay3502 If you use fruity loops go to Options --> Midi Settings --> Hit Enable
If you use Logic ( you wouldn't have even asked ) it connects automatically

Hi all, I've recently started getting problems with my VI61 communicating with the software. Firmware is all up to date and it communicates as a controller keyboard to Ableton (on PC) but it won't communicate with the programming software any more. I get the massage "Midi Communication Unsuccessful. Verify Midi Connection and Device Settings, Verify No Other applications are using the Midi port." If anyone has any advice, I'd really appreciate it.

@@ado011235 @ElectroflexBand Hey yall, I've been having the exact same issue for as long as I could remember. Finally figured it out today, here's the link to the process that I used. (I have a VI25, these steps are for the QX models, but it still works for the VI models. www.alesis.com/kb/article/1664
Once you load into the editor software again after following these instructions, go to OPTIONS > DEVICE SETUP and set INPUT to MIDIIN2 (VI25/VI49/VI61) and set OUTPUT to MIDIOUT (VI25/VI49/VI61). Hit APPLY and then OK. Make the necessary changes in the software, and then go to FILE > HARDWARE > SEND PRESET. That seemed to work for me.
That being said, the editor is still really buggy and error-prone, so you may end up receiving the same error again. When this happened, I checked the device settings again (under options), and even though the correct input/output was selected, I selected APPLY and OK again.
I really hope this helps. Honestly, this is some of the shittiest software that I have ever seen. For a company like Alesis, I'll think again before buying one of their products.

what daw are you using? can you check your midi device settings and see if they show up there?

Do the alesis midi products work with Fl Studio? And also with usb?
not sure about autamatic mapping but you can use it in fl studio, I don't use FL once but I tried it one in FL with whatever that mpc plugin is and I had to map the pads myself to get it to work

it stands for "control change" and what it does depends on the software/hardware you are controlling

How to use the editor - click this button to change something, that button to change something else. The other buttons are pretty much the same...

you cant you can only shift up and down in octaves without the editor, unless you map that function in your specific function to a button on the keyboard with midi learn.
I recommend tempo on 1.25

yeah this does midi only so you would need to use the audio out of your laptop or audio interface into the mixer.
@@jamalmortimer I just got one vi49...i have the vi49 USB connect to my laptop n my laptop to my powered speakers but I get no sound.... and I download the software too....what is the next step
@@sirrobertcoakleybahamas6868 did you install the other software? you need to setup the computer as an audio advice and load a synth into ableton or some other host.

you need a soft synth this only triggers midi there's no audio involved

this is just a controller you need to use virtual instrument on your computer that outputs to the appropriate sound card if you want to hear anything.

Spoke a lot about nothing. It was very unclear.
Was really hoping this would finally explain things for me because there's little to no GOOD support for the Alesis VI series. But no. There was literally NO point of setting up that second camera angle showing your hands/keyboard because you didn't even touch it and show us anything! Not once. And thought you'd explain things to us.. what is CC? What exactly is the "curve" and how does it behave? Demo it to us. Do something lol.
those aren't specific to the keyboard it;s part of the midi protocol just go learn about midi
@@jamalmortimer So what was the purpose of that 2nd camera angle - the one that we see at the bottom right of the video? You pull out the keyboard at around 4:19.. but do absolutely nothing with it for the entirety of the video. In this case, the least you could do is physically interact with your Alesis to demonstrate the effects of what you're adjusting on the program's end.
