But Walt Disney isn’t a real person. He would say it himself. The real Walt was a fascist apathetic dictator, who was racist and sexist. I agree that the world can benefit from more optimism, but whenever it’s done it’s usually at the cost of honesty and a grip of reality. ie, lying. Walt’s optimism directly contributed to the image of the United States as a great country in the 20th century, while it did horrific (Disney supported) things all over the world, that often went unnoticed thanks to the Disney image.

Had he lived a little longer possibly in his 90's what would he think of secret of nimh, an american tail from don bluth and new movies like little mermaid, beauty and the beast and lion king
The Sherman brothers and walt Disney would be proud and and amazed great job great music god bless you guys thanks you guys rock still going strong after all these years later appreciate you guys !! ❤❤😂😅 Joe
I've been to Disney at least 4 times, and that's STILL my favorite ride. But, whenever I hear it, it makes me want to go back. And sad that I'm not already there. This song just SCREAMS Disney, even more than its other, more popular, attractions or blockbuster movies!
Yep, agreed! Because what Walt was, above all else, was a forward-thinker, a futurist, and even more important: an eternal optimist. Reading some of the disparaging remarks on this post, I think we need a lot more like him nowadays!
I came here first as soon as I heard that Richard passed away. I knew I couldn't make it through "Feed The Birds" right now, but this just wrecked me. Look at those goofy geniuses.
Everyone complains about lines, but never goes on big People-Eaters like Carousel of Progress, the Tiki Room, etc. I’m one of those oddballs who checks Disney wait times for fun, and on some of the most crowded days I’ve ever seen, I’ve still yet to see The Carousel of Progress receive more than a 5 minute wait
Movie theater TV series finale season start show hollywood story life look back on the best of magical magic in Disney life look back at movie made of the day
RIP Robert. Thanks to you and your brother, there really is a great big beautiful tomorrow shining at the end of every day. Thanks for the wonderful things you have brought to this Earth.
I've always wished that I could have lived in this time. I'm not sure why but there is something about it that puts a smile on my face and calms my soul.
I am sure Walt Disney and the Sherman Brothers are enjoying the music in Heaven. I love Walt Disney and I just learned about the Sherman Brothers. They shared so much.
Walt was brilliant at marketing. I mean that as an ultimate compliment from a business point of view. Having the dream is a necessary start, but not enough. One must be able to successfully market the dream to see reality. Love those GE logos on their backs!
One mans dream came to reality and changed the whole world. Walt if you were here today i expect you would be ashamed with what they have done to your amazing company. R.I.P you changed so many childrens lifes : )
Well done men, well done Walt. I just learnt all the time I watched Walt sadly he was not alive, no parent told me he passed away. I thought he was at the time 40 odd years ago, cause his legend is eternal.
My boyhood (the '60s and '70s) was fortunate to some truly wonderful voices accessible on television -- Walt Disney, Rex Allan (the narrator of many Disney nature films), Lon Simmons (LA Dodgers), Stan Freberg (satirist), Paul Frees (Disneyland attractions and so much more), Orson Welles, Hans Conreid (Snidely Whiplash, et al), Thurl Ravenscroft (The Grinch), Don Pardo (game & talk show announcer), Walter Cronkite . . . probably a few dozen more I'm not remembering right now. Their voices were simultaneously reassuring, and carried moral authority. Where are their equivalents today?
Optimism resounds in that song. For those of us who see the potential. That we can devise an ever better world,so long as we are able to pursue the dream in a free market based society. In which an individual can invent, create and profit from the fruit of their efforts. The antithesis to those who hate the very idea of American exceptionalism [and you know who you are]
I'm surprised Robert Sherman is able to jump and kick that high around 1:46 because his biography stated he had a serious leg and knee injury during WW II and needed to walk with the assistance of a cane in his later years.
The best part about that song is that it's about Walt Disney replace the word man with Walt" Walt has a dream and that's the start he follows his dream with mind and heart
i went to the Carousel of Progress on my birthday and it was my first time to disney world as well. XD i was singled out and had to learn the song and sing it back. Then backwards. I won. >=3D
The world needs more Walts. Not because of his theme parks or cartoons, but because of his vision and his drive.
Javier: And boundless optimism. I'm no Pollyanna, but I'm tired of everyone being so negative about things.
But Walt Disney isn’t a real person. He would say it himself.

elon musk is this generations walt disney
Elon Musk's too abrasive to be seen as a Walt Disney spiritual successor. He's more in common with Edison...
