@@ZedekiahNS with one hand I assume

This would be really useful for people with only one hand. So there's that.
I'm sure i can write a lot faster with one hand than with this thing
How many people with two hands have the dexterity to use that thing? I imagine those with one hand would be even rarer.
It would... But how would you actually put it on your hand by yourself if you only have one hand?
@@axelolord use ur dirty feet

You can buy like 10 keyboards for that kind of money
Maybe even 15 if you buy knockoffs

I play the piano and I feel like it'd be the same if not worse than using an actual keyboard.
@@crowtato8054 I'm an experienced pianist, but spend a lot of my day on a keyboard, and I'm possible the worst typist on the planet. I'm definitely going to check it out.
This is actually really good for VR, like working in a VR environment with it is amazing.
However, I previously broke my middle knuckle on my right hand which meant any command that used my middle finger was very flakey as my hand would shake.
You don't need full VR, you can use it with a tablet strapped around your neck (have you seen the wearable tablet holder?). Another thing I was thinking is what if you had multiple monitors / tablets, and they were all synchronized with each other, you could be typing and stuff while in route to another screen. Also you could have a touch brail extension or something that lets you display information through touch, instead of relying on an eye piece.
So... when you're done learning to use this crap you'll be also a pro at performing naruto jutsu and witcher hand signs.
Lmao. I spat out my drink.
yeah, pretty much
2 Birds, 1 Stone. But in all seriousness, think about having the freedom and privacy to type with one hand without losing immersion.
Consider marketing it to disabled people who are missing a hand, might get a good ammount of the sales on that side, since regular techies are mostly gamers too and keyboard+mouse are not something you can contest easily.
I was about to say that
40wpm? That's not terrible.
I say this as a programmer that can easily do 80-100wpm. Most of your writing delay doesn't really come from the typing speed anyways, but from figuring out what you want to type.
The problem with programming is you use a lot of random uncommon keys like square and angle brackets, curly braces, symbols like & and %, etc. I got an all-black keyboard without labeled keycaps when I was an edgy high schooler, and I quickly discovered I was not in fact purely a touch typist, and remembering which number the ^ and $ shift-keys were on was challenging, and I can't imagine the gestures for those symbols is easy to remember either. You just don't use them enough to be ingrained in working memory.
I do upwards of 140. I love the idea but especially as a developer I can't imagine trying to use this thing and still be productive. Writing a RegEx would be hell.
yes but he said after hours of typing

I’m sure they can make a gaming version that allows to use WASD easily
As someone who travels a lot, I am salivating at the thought of having a full keyboard and mouse that fits on ONE HAND
I wish you had a dual claw solution and use a combination of dual hand typing (when you really need to type), single hand typing (to learn it and so that you can hold stuff while typing), voice-typing, and lip-reading + single-hand typing.

Thank God I play guitar, my fretting hand is great for gesturing with fingers independently. I imagine pianists will also love it. I'd assume musicians that play instruments that require similar motions will hit way higher than 40 WPM
This would definitely pair well with functional AR glasses. I'm excited to see how it all unfolds in the future.
This I might have to try. I imagine it not being very practical for most people but I am physically handicapped and my left hand is basically useless. It would take some time to learn but it might be worth it
wheeeliegirl thats a smart implementation for it. Maybe it could used by people with a lost limb or other disabilities.
GundamGoku If you lost a limb
just use the other hand I guess
Because of the way all the keys are spread out trying to use one hand on an entire keyboard would probably be much slower and awkward compared to something like this that just relies on gestures.
wheeeliegirl Good luck
2CrazieDude it is there are taping techniques that you can use one hand and I've had people try to teach them to me but the amount of stretching you have to do is crazy. As of right now I'm just a hunt and Peck kind of person. If I'm not using my voice dictation that is. This might be better option for when I don't want to use the voice dictation or I'm sick and it doesn't pick my voice up very well
This product is good for people with only one hand! Imagine trying to use a mouse and keyboard with only one hand. This would be well worth $180 to someone with an arm and/or hand disability.
Aoi Even someone with less severe impairments could benefit. I have tendinitis that makes use of a mouse painful and do CAD for a living, which means using an Intuos tablet. Works great as a pointing device, but the size and setup make it a pain to switch back and forth to a keyboard. I'm using a Razer Nostromo to have access to most keyboard shortcuts and a better scroll wheel, but typing text means setting everything else aside and hunching over to reach the keyboard (my back isn't a fan). I could see this being a much better option... if I could afford it.
Also people who are blind! The learning curve will be harder but I think it's possible no? Much easier than using keyboards on touchscreen phones for example.
savage
i cut the nerves on my hand with a saw and typing is hard.
using my thumb index and middle finger dont feel anything so i cant tell when theyre touching the keyboard.
and me being an 80 plus words per minute user, this fucks me up hard.
to the point i had to train myself to use the side of my middle finger and right index to compensate for the missing "keys"
while 30-40 wpm is about half of my normal, being able to reliably type with one hand would help a lot.
Maybe even make me better, type with one hand and use my good hand to do other stuff like messing around with a second pc or chugging coffee while i do some work.
at almost 200 it seems expensive to me for now, but im cheap and arent TOO impaired to NEED it.
but if it got a discount, an upgrade or i found it on sale, i think its a good deal considering gaming keyboards are of similar prices and they dont do anything other than make keys a bit more sensitive.
Which does not help me at all.
Either buy this or go back to single key typing.
imagine speed runners playing with these lmao

Sounded pretty interesting until the $180 part...
Michael Berthelsen
Fuck me it costs $180? I got 3 mins into the video ‘wow this is amazing I might get this’ but fuck that
Would worth $180 if they gave me support for developing new applications of it as gaming controls and musical performance and medical diagnosis.
SweetHyunho Imagine the hundreds of combinations you would have to wear to play a Piano 😂. Or play guitar hero with two of these
180 dollar is a good price for it, tbh I expected something like 500 for it.
Fire Powered RadioActive Elevator It's a good price for new tech, sure, but not fir consumer level products. Like Linus said, once it gets cheaper, I'm interested, but this is (as it currently stands) mostly for people with quite a bit of money to burn and free time to learn. And I can't afford to drop $180 for something that does the exact same as a regular keyboard, just to save space, or be able to type on the train or airplane. I just use my laptop for that...
I think this could have great application in gaming, especially VR gaming where you don't want to have to hold a controller or navigate a keyboard. Games in general aren't going to require you to use many keys though, so it would be an easy transition. The issue would be potential lag time or keystrokes not registering if done in quick succession.
Abbreviated Reviews definitely be applications, typing in ED for obe
The biggest drawback is needing a surface. If this could track your fingers in the air then it would have a lot of awesome applications.
I would use this with Elite Dangerous in a heart beat. Considering the purchase... Now just have to convince my wife I need another gaming gadget...
you just need to work on your miming skills so you can pretend there's a surface in the air you're hitting
How is it good for gaming if you have to constantly change from keyboard to mouse
This is great for 3d modeling! I have it on my left hand and my mouse in my right and it makes everything so much easier

I love this concept as I had a similar idea. Something like this but also a wristband that uses EMG (electromyogram) to detect muscle movements for wrist positioning. Then it would be nice if you could just "type normally" whenever your hands happen to be in space. The arrow keys could be operated by lifting and directing the finger in the appropriate "arrow" direction. Bonus points, it could be linked up to a phone and used to translate Sign Language as well :)
This is usefull when i am drawing/sculpting and i need to make lot of shortcuts with my other hand only.
Just bought one for my 63 year old one handed mother. Hope it will help her interacting with PC and her Phone. If it goes well, i will get one for myself too.
Thanks for reviewing that device, never would have found it by myself. Think it is love at first sight.
Doesn't sombra from overwatch use this exact same thing?
RuinedBlackCat true
RuinedBlackCat if you had this or a Twiddler, a Raspberry Pi or other SBC in a custom tiny backpack with a power bank, and a clip on glasses display, you could make an extremely obvious wardriver.
I think the sombra thing works more like what Linus said in the beginning of the video- also in overwatch they have the technologie to make solid projections and teleport.. so that would help I guess
Hey, you are the wrong cat

This thing would be really great as something like a VR Glove to to stuff in VR like point at something or lift something.
Hand tracking: Allow me to introduce myself
(The Quest 2 allows for hand tracking, you just need to find it! I'd recommend you find it via the search bar.)
The primary usage for this is clearly Accessibility. For people with one hand or limited motion, this device is huge. I own one and learned how to use it and the quality is excellent.
The future for AR / VR / glasses makes this much more appealing. If your phone is in your pocket, but your screen is on your glasses, then this becomes a very rational way to provide input to the device.
It's a little difficult to learn, but no more obtuse than learning to touch type. As someone with multiple keyboards, it is possible to learn different keyboard layouts and keep them all in your brain.
late night tech tips. wouldn't have it any other way
Austin Thompson Morning tech tips for me
Been imagining something like this embedded in my fingertips for a while. Nice to see it's actually coming out in some form or another.
If I weren't constantly hurting for money, I'd get one and use it every damn day until I mastered it.
I can see this being a great tool for people with mobility and hand dexterity issues. That's neat!
For VR or AR, I think having something that senses your fingers so you can type on a virtual keyboard seems better, though I'm actually not sure without trying. With my current Oculus setup, I definitely prefer the controllers to finger navigation, and bluetooth keyboard works well.
I really like that the tech is already out, so it has time to improve and get cheaper (as mentioned in the video) by the time AR is more common.
I love the idea of being able to use a computer without having a computer
in the future
This technology should be reimagined to work with VR, where you could do everything from type on virtual keyboards, use along with VR hardware such as steering wheels and HOTAS systems where it can be used to VR map your finger so you can drive and/or steer while being able to grab guns press virtual buttons or even working in tandem with you wands, so that you can get in your car, drive, then exit it, pick up your wands and play the game as a typical fps (imagine a real VR GTA with a steering wheel and wands).
My 2 cents.

I’ve been using this for over a year now, I’ve done some personal software modifications and use it to control my google enhanced home.( turning lights on and off, appliances, TV, alarm systems, also enabling music play commands, and even my personal AI assistant ) it’s really great, the learning curve is something to consider I have a couple, one for typing and such and a separate one I modified, Price is a little high I agree but if you’re like me this can become an essential tool.
this guys uses two...holy crap dude at the same time? They should make a body suit as well....no telling what you could accomplish
what sort of wpm are you averaging having used it for over a year?
I am also interested in wpm you reched

Can't wait until this gets better and cheaper
Oh I don't mind
I've been using the same model of keyboard on my pc for close to 10 years
Has it become better and cheaper?
Damn. I really like the 'new' intro. Just getting rid of that beginning part made it feel cleaner and professional.
This unironically sounds like so much fun
I'm starting to designs a few custom 12-14 click mouses so I can dull mouse for playing 2 games at same time and so on. Do you think a person might be able to use 2 of these instead ? Challenge wise !
Most interesting part of this to me, is the mouse mode. :) Even better would be a pair, where one acts as the keyboard, and the other as the mouse. Now that's truly futuristic imo. :)
1:40 Bill Nye the Linus Guy!
Just - grabbed the newer TAP-XR bracelet for use with Apple Vision Pro. I’m tired of having to grab a BT keyboard and such.. or also have a trackpad (especially for MAC mirroring situations. This might be great in mouse mode. Combined with Apple Vision Pro…. this is just very cool. even for use in VR with various headsets. Faster than their internal laser pointer keyboards for sure… I also am amazed at how well your bring swaps sides if you change hands… Very cool .. AR/XR/VR adds a whole new use for these devices the Strap 2 or the XR (which is the one i got)
Being able to type or mouse with either hand after training with only one hand, is a GREAT advantage. As a lefty, I might be interested in this tech.
I work on a large Cintiq tablet and using this, tapping directly on the tablet, instead of a keyboard off to the side sounds great.
It probably defeats some of the purpose I'm sure, but seems like if you could have two at the same time would be nice for general typing. Maybe even splitting up the gestures between the two.
This video is better than usual, whats going on?

Awesome to see and use
Could you look into the KAI Wearable? While it's not a device that's meant to replace keyboard and mouse, it's a gesture device that seems like quite an intriguing way of changing up how we interact with devices and would love to hear your opinion of it! Though someone did bring up the idea of possibly using two of these devices to make a virtual keyboard, though not sure if it'll be feasible.
Cooooool. I have very little interest in VR, but this looks like it'd be useful to control stuff like an HTPC, where you do need to type, but not necessarily at high speed. Or for people who have a lot of trouble with the touchscreen keyboard on their phone, or teachers who want to operate the class computer while they're standing at the white board... it has a lot of potential applications outside VR.
But the real question is, how good is to use as a mouse for gaming?
Once he said it could function as a mouse, I immediately thought "Hmm I want to see some gameplay with it."
Its probably not great for gaming, I doubt much will replace the mouse in gaming unless vr/ar gaming reallly takes off
Still, that doesn't mean it wouldn't be interesting to see.
Lol
I wonder
Imaging using this for gaming. Wasd, Shift, c, e, I, m, for simple shooters. Sounds easy
For 50 Bucks, I would rush to buy one. I like the idea pretty much :o
I don't think i'd use it as a keyboard
But a mouse?
YES!
Infact i've already come up with some new better gestures that would fit it for mouse use
Like pulling back your index finger as if you were pulling a trigger
I'm not a gamer but just imagined a first person shooter where you make a gun shape with your hand then raise your arm as if you were holding a pistol and that be a neutral spot where you can turn your hand left and right to change which direction you're facing, bob your hand up and down for kneeling/crouching and to move forward just move your first half a foot in infront to move and angle it to move diagonally etc. It would in a way solve the "walking problem" that VR has although obviously not as good as a desired "ready player one" solution.
So basically a gyroscope and mid air up down left right x-y plane..
Hopefully that made sense to both fellow non gamers and gamers alike.
My first reaction as well. It feels really intuitive mimicing a wearable mouse sensor.
Unfortunately it looks like a DIY mouse scene hasn't developed like the keyboard scene has.
@@R34L157 That would suck, and wouldn't fit the ergonomic goal at all. Just incredibly tiring and wayyy slower than playing with a mouse and keyboard if you're fit enough to do that shit
How is that better than an a normal mouse click? pulling your finger back would still raise your knuckle to above your hand height when your hand is flat, same issue, and with repeated use would cause more strain as it uses a less utilized tendon and exasperates your palm muscle more, this is just by feeling the underside of the hand and doing this motion repeatedly, it's damn uncomfy for most people. Its not hard, you're not smarter than a team of designers 'already come up with some new better gestures' lol
@@R34L157 Probably the reason why they did it how they did it is not personal preference but the devices maximum of accurate tracking. They use acceleration sensors to detect the fingers movement. Now Acceleration isnt speed, so they can only detect hard positive or negative acceleration (starting to move your finger or stop abrupt). Thats probably why they chose the tapping on hard surface, its a hard deceleration. So just moving your finger backwards probably would be to spongy to actually have a accurate 'Now i want click' and 'Now i only move finger'. Nice idea though.
should have tried it for gaming
Would be really convenient if it was programed to detect inward movement instead of outward, since they are much easier to execute. Just calibrate a resting position with your hand facing up. If i did own one, id reprogram it to do that (if posible)
the little rubber sound after the gun cocking sound lol
Okay, but can they make one where you just tap out a QWERTY layout in the air? I can already do that and it'd make it much easier.
Laser projection boards
that'd be very complicated, you'd lose the keyboard, the motion tracking would be hard, how do we detect where your tips are and you don't know how big the keys are and will hit F and touch D.
Also it would have the same problem as touchscreen keyboards: no physical response, so you don't actually know how and if you're pressing it. Pretty uncomfortable imo.
Yeah, as someone who uses all 10 fingers to type and don't have to move my hand unless I back space or use numbers, I feel like I'm definitely going to still be faster at typing than someone used to that device
with that tap device you can use the SQWERTY. ……...sorry
Easily the coolest "keyboard" I have ever seen. If there is a new typing for the future, I think this might be it. The only thing I think would be awesome is if it can eventually recognize sign language instead.
What about using two of these, one per hand? Would that speed things up?
I may have bought one... I'll see what it's like when it arrives, should be pretty handy for me since I hate typing with two hands on my phone... not sure the mouse feature will be great though, I bet it feels a lot less smother than a regular mouse
What if you don't have 5 fingers, if 3 of your fingers got stuck in iMac Pro's fan housing?

SekretAgentMans wow what a great reply, thank you for the information!
Simon WoodburyForget well you gotta think about the bigger picture. AR and this concept in 10 maybe 20 years will allow us to create music in a new visual way.
SekretAgentMans true. I’m just saying tho these could be the early stages of something big in the next 10-20 years. Pretty soon we are gonna be making music with our thoughts and not have to move much.
I'm absolutely saving up for this. This is such an awesome idea, and I'm perfectly fine learning a new keyboard, as long it's not terrible (Amazon reviews reflect a good ease of use).
However, the price has only named to increase by about $20, but hey. I'm still excited
I hope you didn't buy one. I had one, sold it on Ebay. I've logged over 20hours of training on it. Don't expect to get above 35wpm unless you have insanely good figure dexterity.

That’s bonkers!!
So they've reinvented the chorded keyboard, this system was developed in the late 1970s. I think the first production model was called the "Microwriter", and I remember an electronic organiser made by the same company in the late 80s. Niche indeed ;)
I believe that you are the first RUclips channel that makes a Ad for another youtube channel.LOL
It's basically a keyboard and mouse that you can easily take with you anywhere, pretty cool idea.
Maybe not for me or you, but this could be the bomb for some disabled people, changing their lifes. There is never too many input methods.
Nope, it sucks. They should use voice diction.
@@OgdenM you cant possibly be serious
I can see the OrbiTouch keyboard being a huge advantage for people with disabilities or those who are handicapped :O
I was thinking the same thing - people who have lost an arm or who lost moto skills in one hand. Lots of possibilities!
A lot of products that seem like a strange way to do something that we already do are made for people with disabilities which have migrated over to mainstream in order to make enough money for development to be worthwhile.
Thinking the same, too. Imagine, if you really only had one hand. I can totally see, how you would be way faster (and propably waaaayyyyyy more comfortable) typing one handed with that thingy, then an actual Keyboard. Plus, the Hand can stay where it is, to use it as mouse, which is quite a neat feautre, i'd say.
Oddly, that's my favourite weird keyboard for now ! I would be curious to try and use it !
Don't buy it, read my comment that I just made today.
This has benefits in multiple categories:
One handed use
Portable use
Vr work environments
Maybe even gaming
I would love to give these a go since I plan to do more work outside of my normal desk setup and absolutely hate track pads but am not too thrilled about carrying a mouse. It has that added benefit of being a spectacle to anyone who notices I'm typing on nothing. As well when at home I could take advantage of owning a VR headset and having unlimited monitors for multitasking without having to try and figure out seeing my keyboard as well. Pretty niche benefits but I'd happily pay 50-100 bucks but not any more because it's very likely that I won't have the time to learn the keys.
