- We're moving back home after 10 years in NYC to fix up a 1914 schoolhouse and turn it into a modern home! You can see more photos + story over on our IG. :) / schoolhousehomestead
This video shows the progress we've made as of 1/1/2022. We did a ton of yard work at Christmas to remove invasive plants, dead trees, and trash. Next step: a new roof!
Please keep the updates coming. Even if they are small I believe this will be a beautiful home
Best suggestion-
Tubular skylights for that central hall. Inexpensive, energy saving, perfect to pump light into the central space. Solatube was wonderful for me.
Love the video, being that my wife and I have remodeled 9 homes so far, I can appreciate all that you're going through.
removing the garage did wonders for the entire building
Keep up the great work. I'm so glad you brought this place to renovate. It would have been sad to see it torn down.
I’m very excited to follow you guys and watch this schoolhouse turn into a magnificent home! Best wishes to you all!
Hurray for getting rid of the invasive plants!!
This will be quite remarkable when done, but it certainly is a lifetime commitment.
The garage and deck looks like a lovely addition!
So cool! I have a new appreciation for Indiana, too😊
I just recently subbed to your channel.. I love seeing the older structures fixed up again to live in.. lots of people are doing this.. I recently ran across a guy that purchased a Buster Brown shoe factory that was 3 story and about 70,000 sq ft.. He got it for an amazing price of 20,000 dollars..
Well thx for bringing us along and keeping us updated.. Take care and God Bless...
Keep the updates coming. It’s so exciting. Yes, my husband and I remodeled my childhood home. You’re doing a great job!!
Wow! What a transformation already, can't wait to see th rest come to life. Stay safe ✌️🙏🤟🏫
OH….MY….STARS….THAT DOG!!!! SQUEEEEEEEEE!!
Super cool 😎 can’t wait to see it finished!
Wow! This is awesome! We are renovating a 10,000 square foot, early 1900s general store into our home but the amount of work you guys have to do makes me feel a little less overwhelmed with our own project 😅 - we are documenting the process on our channel if you are interested. Looking forward to watching your progress on this!
I am very interested, what is your page?
You sound like how whenever I feel overwhelmed.
I instantly turn on ‘The Reader’s Digest’ condensed version of Hoarders. 🤭
It works wonders.
@@katherineholubowich Our page is called Our Cafe House
This is sooo cool! Looking forward to your progress!!
Keep it up your living my dream of buying a old school to live in
Daunting project but what an adventure 🥰
Been looking forward to this progress update!
Full garage tear down is a lot. The deck will be a great addition.
Just subbed! This is so exciting to watch!❤❤❤❤
Are there any new updates? We drove by there today and it looks abandoned. the front door has a board nailed on it. I felt a little saddened by the site of the place until I noticed the port-a-john and a dumpster out back. It gave me some hope.
New sub! Just discovered y’all, this looks like an awesome idea. Congrats on the new baby.🎉
Would love to see the completed conversion..
This is amazing!!
I believe just finding this this morning which is October 28 there’s one baby boy but I think there’s another one and then the rendering shows three so we’ll see about that
Please be careful when removing some of those bricks for your entrance and exit.
I had a friend who made a lucrative door business.
Out of a similar rural tan brick school building.
Without any forewarning the back of his building dropped. It was watertight sometimes you never know what you are getting yourself into.
Wow alot of work to do done but it will be beautiful 😊
If I were to do this, I would do almost everything you have done. I fled Elkhart many years ago.
❤😊❤😊
Wow!! How long does it take to complete a project like this? It's going to be a beautiful and amazing home!!
Any updates on the place?
I just had a baby and have a 1.5 year old so not too much time to edit videos at the moment! haha - but I post more on Instagram at @schoolhousehomestead!
Curious why you didn’t tarp the roof to keep the rain out?
We did, that video was taken while it was off right before the tarp
Do you know the size of the school? :D It looks soooo big! :)
Where is this located in Indiana? Hobbs, Indiana???
Un espace immense pour une chambre et un prit espace pour 3 petites chambres pour les enfants ?
Did you have any relatives that went to this school?
We didn't! It closed in 1936 as a school. But we did go to the elementary school that absorbed the students after this school closed!
Put the landary room in the basement
Taking out original brick wall opens up big problems also can cause the whole building to collapse
Place don't have a original office
Marvelous stuff!
IPO wealth. Congratulations!
