    12 or 13 years of a complete dunce in Howard... after dissing one our first great minds in Keating. Then without the people having a say.. another great intellect was lay baron to the likes of Gillard.. the factions.. Abbott and Turnbull... a gradual decline in intellect and yes even the touted intellect of Turnbull who is mired in politics and himself. These folks are the wasted years.. that has set Australia back decades.. these are the years of nothingness - almost two decades.. that as Keating once lamented have put Australia so much further from the summit. Power - however misguided - is best held by the people to choose whom they want as their leader, and after Gillard took over with the support of her factions the rot set in. It is a shameful period in Australian politics where media.. elites.. under Murdoch. and mining magnates held a nation hostage and stultified two of the great visionaries and minds we had in Keating and Rudd. I don't believe the Australian people collectively get everything wrong.. but there are individuals among us.. that like Abbott are prepared to run a wrecking ball through the pillars of democracy.. and that want to appeal to people's worst instincts their bass instincts in a race to the bottom. Ironically, most likely through weariness the Turnbull era has (and no credit to him) has seen more nothingness but at least less interference from the rogue elements comprising of the elite and rightist individuals that infect and poison a fair and just Australian society. Whomever is in government let them govern. but lets keep the vested interests at bay .. so that money and power do not hark us back to the dark ages.

      Well said. I think luck was on the side of the cynics. Things could have been very different in the election Beazley got more votes but lost due to Tampa, children overboard and (people forget this) 9/11 happened and scared everyone to vote for the border maniacs.
      Then Australians finally got a chance to look to their better angels and elected Kevin Rudd. A VERY progressive man in many ways. Was the most popular Prime Minister in history at one point. Then he got knifed. A huge miscalculation on Guillard’s part. She was good, but you don’t knife a leader who fulfilled all his election promises, for your own personal gain. It opened her up to Abbot and the rest is history....

    I'm an admirer of Mr. Rudd, as a politician and diplomat. He speaks Chinese well and understands China and has the right perspective about international intentions and events.

    He contradicts himself on refugees by saying his actions in New Guinea were aimed at People Smugglers yet when he writes to UN says we have a collective responsibity to Refugees .

    • @aliince9372
      @aliince9372 3 года назад +1

      No, he actually doesn't. The way he engaged with the refuge issue was to tackle the smugglers. If you stop the smugglers, AND if the UN actually does it's job, the refugees would be able to be relocated safely.
