Paul Keating. Never before, never again. How privileged am I to have lived through the Keating era. How loudly do I proclaim that he is my biggest inspiration, my hero.
What's amazing about Keating is that he has a mind as rigorous as any intellectual yet he left school at 14.........wouldn't get a guy like him nowadays
Why not? In a country outside of here you would likely get someone with the nous and street cred to educate themselves, like say in Africa where mostly you don't have the options as we do here. My father finished high school at 13 in 1931, which was the norm in the countryside, but he applied himself and got somewhere. It was a different era.
He managed the Ramrods then he fearlessly and intellectually managed the future for all of us. He and Barry Humphries are the two greatest contributors to the country. Our best ever PM.
I love how butt hurt conservatives in comment sections are still going about how keating hurt their feelings, even after all these years they get triggered by keating, brilliant man
To a point it is unfortunate that this discussion is bogged down in history on the basis of geography and nationalisms. Forward thinking, the future, of the ideal kind would be more in terms of the world as one.
I could not be more in agreement with Paul with regards to the carbon tax. I skimmed some of the legislation and (I’m no accountant) but it seemed like a super profits tax. IE. The business is going so well indeed. I think the super profit tax makes a lot of sense. They couldn’t have sold free ice creams on a warm arvo.
was a brilliant show but it was destroyed by that extreme leftist who ruined it with the trump joke! that was so uncalled for and he should of kept his political leftist agenda and opinion to himself
I disagree with that.I liked Hawke and Keating and Keating worked well with both Hawke and Bill Kelty to bring the much needed changes to advance the Australian economy into the rapidly changing world.
Why would he be insecure? He made necessary changes to assist with Australia's disadvantage of being isolated from European trade and promoted Australia in the Asian region ( ASEAN ).Keating was a leader with foresight. No one compares to him from today's self centred politicians.

ABSOLUTELY!
Paul Keating, one of the great Australians. Regrettably today there is no one to match him.
Yep, absolutely no one.

Paul Denne trouble is everybody has to be seen as “educated” as on gone to uni otherwise they just write you off
Not only is he a formidable autodidact, he's a champion brain-picker.
@@pablononpicasso1977 Keating is extremely knowledgeable in history, macroeconomics. Flawless methodical orator!
...Bullshit argument.@@pablononpicasso1977
Amazing Australian prime minister, who is a man of inspiration for our future.
He managed the Ramrods then he fearlessly and intellectually managed the future for all of us.
He and Barry Humphries are the two greatest contributors to the country.
Our best ever PM.
Who are here about Keating because of the impact he generated in the 2023 Australian Press Club interview?
Paul, I sincerely wished you are running for the PM today in 2021
A lot of us still wish he was PM
I love how butt hurt conservatives in comment sections are still going about how keating hurt their feelings, even after all these years they get triggered by keating, brilliant man
Love the Gough impersonation at 25:45
Bless you 🙏 Mr Keating ☝️♥️✌️🌍🙏
The audience's stunned reactions from 30:48 to 31:07 are superb.
courage & imagination - exactly what today's politicians seriously lack
OMG how wonderful
Our last great PM.
I respect Keating even more after his interview at the 2023 Press Club. What he said even 5 years ago is so perceptive and prophetic!
A date would be good on this vid.
I think this crap is so relevant to today, if Paul was as young as a 30 year old, I would vote for 30 of them today.
Was Keating on Bill Heffernan's list?

Does the audio go out of sync? Is it just me?

Who were the 7 dorks who gave this a thumbs down?
Probably because they didn't cut the last few minutes out.
Still mad about their overpaid manufacturing job that no longer exists
Obviously you do not know what I know about the person
I'm. Glad. Hes. Seen. The. Big. Picture. Because. I. Haven't. Seen. It. Yet
PAUL KEATING SHOW
50:00 Ru into EU, & nil NATO
He's wrong about carbon. I do wish we had some earnest politics though.
A contemporary of Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs has got nuthin on Paul...
was a brilliant show but it was destroyed by that extreme leftist who ruined it with the trump joke! that was so uncalled for and he should of kept his political leftist agenda and opinion to himself
Always trying to make his term relevant. Nothing without Hawke helping him along the way.
I disagree with that.I liked Hawke and Keating and Keating worked well with both Hawke and Bill Kelty to bring the much needed changes to advance the Australian economy into the rapidly changing world.
Big picture my arse
Still trying to justify himself at every opportunity. Must be very insecure.
Why would he be insecure? He made necessary changes to assist with Australia's disadvantage of being isolated from European trade and promoted Australia in the Asian region ( ASEAN ).Keating was a leader with foresight. No one compares to him from today's self centred politicians.
Smartest man in the building, always.
