Do You Need to Seal Paper Flowers Before Adding them To Resin?

- Hi Everyone. Adding paper can be problematic when adding it to resin and I wanted to ensure that these flowers were not going to be ruined by the resin for an upcoming project. So do you need to seal paper flowers before adding them to resin? This is the experiment I do using several different sealing methods to see if it makes any difference to the paper flowers in the resin.

Although I often talk about health and safety in my videos, please make sure you do your own research and take the relevant precautions to ensure that you are protecting your health. I am not responsible for anyone using resin and not taking the correct safety precautions. Resin is a chemical and as such should always be treated with respect and the manufacturers safety advice taken.
The white background makes it look so much more professional, and neat & tidy
Steve, it's so awesome how you thank your members in every single video :) you're the best!
I really liked the salmon colored one better with mod podge I think. 😊
Idk how you got n my suggested list..but I ain't mad😊
The lighter background makes a huge difference in getting to see the actual finished pieces! Especially with blue or purple projects and I know that you are fond of using blue, which is lovely, but hard for us to see fully when it’s against a blue background. Thank you, Steve. 🙂
Happy haircut. Thanks for the experiment!
Do you remember which flowers were the ones you left natural? The sun catcher is gorgeous & yes so much better showing finished products on the white background!
Nice experiment, might have been an idea to make a memory sketch so you knew what was where 😉 thats what I do and I'm not colour blind! Ps thanks for the earworm. I'm gonna ring your bell, ring your 🔔..
Love the sun catcher
Great video at least we know now they don’t necessarily have to be coated. Thanks Steve
Thanks
Thank you for your support
Hi Steve, the pieces all came out beautifully and the white background worked great ,at least for the final views of the pieces. Cheers, Paige C.
I am chuffed you did this, I have masses amounts of these an didn’t even cross my mind to use them in my resin! Cheers your a star!!
Those turned out great! Thank you for all of your tutorials. They have helped me and answered many questions for things that I never would have thought of!
Love your experimental tutorials ... You're awesome for sharing these ... Thank you
Good idea
I love the effect of flowers in resin, tfs!
I like the white background.
Those flowers turned out brilliantly 👏😍 I liked the dark pink the best!
Thank you for the thanks! The white background does make it a lot easier to see the colors and finished pieces; it looks like it is a light pink to me, which is probably due to your light source- some bulbs read/are seen as being "warm" and some are "cool white". It still works very well.
Thank you it is beautiful
Have you ever considered using the spray Mod Podge available for sealing?
The white background works for some projects! I often work on a white background, however, there's just something about the blue that sets of some things.
Lovely work with these flowers.... I'm not sure that I wouldn't want to seal them so they didn't lose color and show "water spots". Please revisit them in a couple of months so we can see if there's any changes. Thank you for sharing this idea with us.
Hope all is well with you and yours ( fur babies too) .
Thank you for your lovely time and quick video it's great 😁 from Annie in Scotland UK
How very cute!! Love the moon fairy!
Thank You Steve for answering a question I didn't think to ask. I like the white back drop. I'm just use to the blue one lol. I like the purple flowers too.
Love them
I have just bought some paper flowers and found your video Steve, thank you for sharing. I came across a video earlier from someone. She uses semolina to dry her fresh flowers. I was wondering if you have tried it Steve? it appears to work quite well. Much cheaper than silica x
The white background makes them pop.
I have so many of those roses so this is an excellent project 😘 thank you. Love the fairy and moon 😘
I think they look divine! Great job!!!
Thanks for another great video! You’re my absolute favorite resin artist to watch 😁
Great video I love putting embellishments in resin thank you for all the different techniques
I've been curious about paper creations with resin as I do Quilling and want to save them in resin. This was perfect! Thank you!
Send Steve some quilled flowers to put in a project, I'm sure it would be beautiful.
@@deebeckham4754 I haven't quilled any flowers but I have quilled a few items. A hummingbird, seahorse (with a colored background) and need to finish my Lionfish. But, no flowers.
I’ve never heard of quilling,... off to Google I go.
@@offairhead I had to do the same thing when I first heard the word, Quilling. For me, quilling is very calming and a lot of fun. Takes a lot of time and patience. Though I'm sure the people who created such beautiful works have been doing quilling a long time and they are faster than myself.
Thank you for another informative video( my mum) we really enjoyed it
You truly are quite remarkable. Thank you for sharing.
Hi :) I tried Hairspray, works fine and is a cheap possibility. :)
Steve I wonder if you could use a potato peeler instead of a burring tool?
You're so cute! Nice project. I want them ALL!
l dida dried rose and prayed it with hairspray and never lost any colour
The white background worked for this one but it might not be the best for others
Coincidentally, I have already ordered some miniature paper roses for my miniature houses and rooms hobby! Are you reading my mind??? Google is, apparently.🤣
Does hairspray work as sealant?
Just ordered some of the Rustolium sealer, is it suitable for silk flowers? Someone has asked me to do a Resin Pyramid of Carnations for a memorial that they want to secure to a grave. So thought it best to give as much protection as possible..
Just wished you told us which stuff u used on them..
I always seal paper inserts to resin.I find it is easier to work with them.
😀👍
Do you need tot seal pictures or paper when you put it in resin?
Wondering if the colour will bleach out in time
My question as well
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts mine too
What is your other channel
It’s in the description box now 👌
Have you ever tried setting photos in Resin? I been looking for several videos and not getting very good answers. I have tried it myself but the photo curled up on me. Any advice?
Steve has done some videos on that. You just have to check his past posts. Good luck!
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts Thank you so much. I trust you more than I do many other creators.
Steve, what is a good cheaper alternative ,to temporarily use,as a mold release??? My electric bill thanks to Biden is killing me and taking away from my craft budget 🙃 😑
