If you want to be REALLY cost effective... I cut old soda cans (cleaned of course) into however thick of strips I need and bend them however I want for bezels. I usually just make sure the silver is facing out and the colorful soda label is facing inward, because 99% of the time I’m doing opaque designs, so it won’t be visible thru the resin. But there are ways to remove the color and have an entirely silver soda can- it’s just a bit of a pain (unless I’m doing a LOT of them, for multiple projects). ☺️💕👍
I go out in the field to collect fossils and the ones made of shale that want to fall apart we use that baking soda and glue trick to keep them together. First time I seen it used for jewelry.
I really love the ideas you come up with and the ways you get around having to do certain things. I think it's great that you love to experiment and that you get to teach us all this awesome stuff that you learn along the way
OMG Steve you've done it again. Now I don't need to spend a tone of cash on bezels that aren't quite what I'm looking for. Thank you and have a coffee on me.
Pretty. Yes I also get so much pain on my hands so I'm going to have to get some for I can make things for my little ones. They really love watching you and they also say they want to learn
What??? Sodium bicarbonate and super glue work like soldering? This is revelational for me!! Will try it soon and look forward for more videos on this!
Flat aluminium wire is so cheap and plentiful. I'm currently wearing an opal ring I made out of aluminum wire, resin and opal chips. It's all held together with the resin.
So now we can create bezels!!!! This week I received catalogs from Fire Mountain Gems. I was perusing the bezels, I marked my favorite but didn't order anything due to the prices. Now that I have viewed this video I need to invest in 18gauge flat wire - the possibilities are now endless. As always, thank you!!
I'm SSSSOOO glad to see this vid.... I've heard you talk about making your own bezals in other videos. Thank you for sharing this very useful skill with us. On another note... Please put the buy-me-a-coffee link for those of us in the U.S. Thanks again
This is so neat! I actually bought a Thing-a-Ma Jig last year so I could make cool shaped wire bezels but never did. The wire I had was to thin, going to order the wire you used and dust off the jig.
I never thought of using a cookie cutter to wrap the wire around like that. Wow. That is so neat! I'm going to have to do that. I have so many cute little cookie cutters. I was thinking of using them with the resin like you did in one of your videos. I like the idea of bending wire around them. That's neat. It's so thin, hardly uses any resin. Thanks for the video. It has given me some ideas.
Tap tap tap said a patient Sharon, awaiting you suggestions LOL. As always thanks for sharing your knowledge and ideas and happy personality. Keep on entertaining us ❤️
Great tips - will try this for broken china jewelry. Idea: How about making the loop at top out of the flat wire so it's all one piece? Might not work for resign due to seepage.
I think the superglue trick works because of the pH difference, if I remember correctly. I learnt this trick in one of Adam Savage's videos, he talked about how he uses it in model making.
Hi Steve. After watching you use plastic cookie cutters with resin, I went to thrift shops and yard sales, looking for plastic cookie cutters, and I found a lot of good ones. (I did buy some too). I haven't tried them yet, but I plan on it.
I've seen the super glue and baking soda trick used in repairing a guitar nut. It's a brilliant idea to use with wire. Good to know about the tiny hanger methods and other tips also. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Steve, do you have anything on how to seal jump rings without soldering them? Please my earrings keep coming open, even worse on a key ring and I want to be able to give gifts that work! Thank you for all the amazing hits tips and tutorials, I love that you still share when things go wrong.
Be sure to use 18 gauge wire, saw cut them for precision joining, or buy "saw cut" rings. They will look better closed, fit snugly and in 18 gauge, be strong enough to not just come open. Also there are tutes on snipping wire with snippers that give a flat edge both sides.
Hi Steve so I finaly made bezels and the pre-made ones worked perfectly except for one were the tape marks made 2 lines but I like it. I am using resin tape. However the ones I made by hand all have leaked, u was wondering if perhaps using hot glue around it might help? Tho it's not really flexible, not sure if you have tried this please let me know I really would like to perfect this project I made so many bezels
Really pretty! I've been looking for narrower armature wire, so glad you found it! If you want them to be thinner or higher-end, you can use square copper or silver wire. Much better than round wire to avoid leaks. Also, run a rolling pin over them if they aren't really flat.
The best thing to get adhesive off with not much effort is baby oil. I find Alcohol I have to rub too hard but working as a CNA for 20 Years, Baby Oil it's the best to get rid of tape residue and does wonders for your skin.
Hi there, i have a problem with my coasters , when i put a hot cup on it it becomes soft, knowing that the coasters was cured already😢 Can anyone help me with this 🙏
Awesome video. Very inspirational. I subscribed to your channel AND am purchasing 6 items through your affiliate links to get me started. I hope it helps a little!
I love to watch your videos, but you always say you'll leave a link for us. I wanted to see the machine so I clicked the link. So disappointed! It wouldn't allow me to see the page unless I signed up for their newsletter... grrr... But I really wanted to see it, so I signed up. It popped up with a thank you, and no way to get past it to see the website. Double grr! Probably a glitch or Mercury going retrograde, whatever, I'll wait and try again later.
Your singing is CONTAGIOUS! My Hubby has noticed I have started singing like you when doing projects together. Love it!

OMG. Thank you for this. I was having the hardest time finding a shape I needed
That’s such a good idea for sealing bezels. So much easier than soldering. I can’t wait to try this. Thanks!

I love your videos! I learn so much from them. Thank you
Your "bear" is not a bear - it is a gingerbread man.
The blue gingerbread man is terrific
Pretty. Yes I also get so much pain on my hands so I'm going to have to get some for I can make things for my little ones. They really love watching you and they also say they want to learn
I always enjoy watching your videos. Thanks for all of you time and energy 😇
That be great for making Christmas decorations
What a fantastic way of sealing the bezels, much quicker and cleaner look than soldering them. ❤️

I just received the molds for jewelry but I love how easy you made the shapes that is awesome I will be trying that next Thank You so much
I used a little bit of sticky stuff remover for the backs, works great!
That is really great! Thanks for this video. Now I can make any kind of bezel that I want!
Wonderful an inspirational video. Thank you for sharing ❤
I love this idea…. I will be doing this for sure!

Don't think anyone could guess that you are "colorblind". Your creations still turn out beautiful!!
This is a gamechanger Steve! What an awesome technique, great way of getting out of mischief when I'm out of bezels.
Tfs 🎨🦉
You are a genius! What an awesome idea! Cant wait to see what you think of next ❤❤❤
Love this video xx can’t wait too try myself 👍🏻
Love your videos I'm new at this and you give so many great tips.thank you

This really a great idea, thank you.
Would using a dab of UV resin to join the bezels work as well Steve?
Just bought my wire. Thank you
Very cool.... Why not put the silicone matt on the wood, best of both. Easy to move around and easy to take off....
Wow that Red is just awesome 🥰😍. Amazing project as always 😘. Love the bottle for the alcohol off I go to do some shopping 😂😂

KarenNeill - Steve used 18 gauge flat wire.
I can't see the links Steve x love your videos btw 💕
Super helpful, thank you from an ADHD adult crafter lol. Just FYI, a few of your amazon link items are unavailable :)

Steve where did you get your large silicon mat. I’ve looked and looked and have not been able to find one Thanks
Amazon. Search for "silicone mat for resin".
The one on the end you can make a Ginger bread man lol
Hi Steve. Big fan as you know but the metal didn’t meet very well on some of those which would drive me silly. Love loads 🦆💕
Yep. I will run tape on top of that til cured! (I'm not sure if there IS a cure for this crafter artist blessing curse thing! lol)
BTW I also sing like Steve "Let's get squidgy Widgy" is my pouring theme tune. I feel like it would be bad luck not to with each and every poor 😄
🙏
Hi there, i have a problem with my coasters , when i put a hot cup on it it becomes soft, knowing that the coasters was cured already😢
Can anyone help me with this 🙏
I would like to know this, too!
👍😀

You cannot solder this wire. It is aluminium.
