nick robertson The people of Mexico are good people. Not everyone is a criminal or cartel member. Also he was mostly with the good side which are the town's "vigilante police" if you will. So that gave him good protection too.

No one trusts anyone I suppose is the biggest reason hardly no one speaks up... at every level of politics and the government, every level of the police, army, and navy, citizens are all highly corrupted with the cartel. If they somehow shut down all drug sales and shipments.. Mexico's economy would sink.

Yeah. Aside from being an actual documentary it's actually one of the better movies I've watched. It plays out like a film plot twist and shock ending and everything. It's hard to even believe this is a documentary, but the events and the people are real films as they are happening the gruesome images are not props.
This is a good way to make people listen. I hope the point's he tried to make with this film has some impact.

They're pussies -- except against a DISARMED people: Zetas official policy is to avoid kidnapping or killing gringos, because they are afraid of disorganized hillbillies, and especially the FBI. India's and ISrael's intl agents helped USA assess MEX cartels, and found that even Zetas is LOW tech, on the same level as Anon's lowest level script-kiddies.
However, they ARE getting help from Hiz b'Allah, and the Syrian war now has decimated Hiz b'Allah to under 50% of their former strength. Obama also no longer can arm them. That leaves Carlos Slim -- a Lebanese-Mexican -- and the PRI (socialist) party as their main benefactors.

chaseshaw22 The whole world does. The drug war and other prohibitions all lead to corruption.
We need a "system" or society that only stops violent actions, and to keep the fuck out of peoples lives when they do non-violent actions like use drugs.
Make drugs illegal, you make the black market and this gives rise to cartels. Very simple.

Shame that reporter attacked the filmmaker for documenting the facts. I think he did a good job with making the film.

People should stand up and speak out, not against the terror, but against the government. Because the government doesn't decriminalize the drugs they empower the terrorists.

i was born in the city of Tijuana and i can tell you this movie doesn't even scratch the surface of all the shit that happens in Mexico. A journalist from the US looking for fame and recognition does not birng any light or solution to the problems there. Those Autodefensas are nothing but another cartel fighting for territory of another cartel with the help of poor people and the guns of the Mexican government. Remember what happened in Chiapas Mexico with
comandante Marcos? indigenous people fought to have freedom and at the en that movement was used to create ratings for Televisa and now those people are still poor an exploited. whats going to happen to autodefensas? They're going to disappear once the new Cartel takes the territory.
