  • Sticking with the Bulleid theme this week as we head back to familiar territory to witness the formal relaunch into service of 34059 ‘Sir Archibald Sinclair’. Although technically returning to service in late 2023, she has been behind closed doors receiving her remarkable new paint job and had only come out in May.
Holding a special timetable to mark the celebration, the highlight would be a little speech by tv presenter Tim Dunn at Sheffield Park station where we open the video. I did film the opening two service trains hauled by Fenchurch and Camelot however the awful weather at the time had other ideas so the decision was taken not to include them. Also worth noting that Fenchurch was meant to double header with 65 for two runs however she unfortunately failed at Kingscote meaning 65 had to pull this service on its own.
All clips were filmed 15/6/24 and are in no particular order.
    Locomotives featured:
Rebuilt Battle Of Britain 34059 'Sir Archibald Sinclair'
    LBSCR Terrier No 72 'Fenchurch'

Thanks for posting my home railway! I used to live in Newick and Burgess Hill, and when I'm over to visit my sister I can walk cross country from Newick to Sheffield Park! Cant wait to get back in September again!! "You can take a man away from Bluebell, but you cant take Bluebell out of a man"! I've even got the OO "spam can" version to remind me!🙂🙂🙂

My favorites are 34058 Sir Frederick Pile, 34059 Sir Archibald Sinclair and 34073 249 Squadron and those locos were named after military officers who served in World War II and 34073 is named after 249 Squadron and they were warplanes that were used during World War II

I am pretty sure both these opening locos were in steam in around 1960 when the Harpenden based Brambleton Model Railway Club did a coach trip to the railway.
