@@robertbartender591 I remember David Jenkins writing that, when he was in charge at the NRM, the ex LNWR sleeping car from the Royal Train was smashed up & burnt right outside his office window. At one time there seems to have been an anti-preservation mentality in BR.

So the emergency stop was made to the midland Pullman because of the guard being left on the platform that the reason why
