- And finally it stopped raining!
Had to work most of the Easter hols but I managed to get out early on the last day and set up in my forest studio for a proper improvised session with no idea what I was going to come up with :)
The video is a tiny bit out of sync with the audio but it's all about the music so I'm not going to try to fix it!
Fender Telecaster into RC500 looper
Roland Gaia Sh-01
Roland MC-101
Behringer Crave
Behringer Xenyx 1002b mixer with
Boss DD6 delay and Boss RV5 reverb.
Roland Cube Street Ex
Zoom H6 and Tascam DR40 audio recorders.
Composed and performed by Keith Sutton
Goodwood 12th April 2024
This of the kind of shit I think about doing while high, but then give up after five minutes staring at a MIDI port.
🤣🤣
lol MIDI might've been so much better if devised under a canopy
@@bananas-01Yes sir I think I will!
Start getting high on the music alone. You don’t need any other help. Truly connect….don’t be afraid.
Set up your gear before you spark up
You randomly popped up in my feed. Really beautiful music. I’m also enchanted by the idea of playing music in solitude in the woods, although I’ve never done this. But I believe this is a very different experience from playing in a bedroom. Spiritually fulfilling.
If I perform with an audience then i try to please them, on my own in the woods I can do whatever I like :)
If you're fancying a try at outdoor synthing, go for it! I's a really rewarding way of working. I've been playing outdoors and in special locations for about 10 years now. You don't need a lot of kit - my core kit is a Windows 8 tablet with a load of ancient VSTs plus a Novation Minikeys 2. The experience is really unique. Every place is different and things come out that you'd never get to in a bedroom session.
@@steveblakemore1898, I only play guitar, but it’s no different, I agree with you. Each place affects the state of mind in its own way and consequently affects the end result. Plus when you play in a totally different environment it helps you develop new ideas as the connections and visual associations that you’re so used to are no longer there. From my experience a mere walk in the forest ignites musical ideas that I don’t normally get in the bedroom.
Absolutely gorgeous! This is what more people should be doing with their lives……
yeah like playing two boring cords in a loop and scaring of animals 😮
@@peterobara7023 bad day ?
I think this music will make the trees happy with the soothing vibrations emanating from your soul🎉
It might make them feel less alone. This music sounds a lot like what my trees sing to me.
Only Bob Ross makes trees happy
I'm watching this movie from🇯🇵
I wish I could play music with You!!
I love this type of music
Thank god, the algorithm led me here. Absolutely fantastic performance, brother!!! This all is as beautiful as the most beautiful painting in the world! Keep up the great work and never strop dreaming ❤️ Love and light from good old Siam 🇹🇭🎷🎸💕
Thank you! It makes me very happy that people are starting to discover my music at last! :)
The guitar at 13.44 is so sublime. Beautiful, beautiful music. Thank you.
J'adore ce flot d'ondes tellement positives... Merci aussi à la forêt qui a su accueillir ton énergie...
Prends soin de ton talent 🙏
Incredible...Thank you. This transports me back to my childhood many years ago. The years with my grandparents, mother and father, brother and sister, and the close friends that I had at that time. Those younger years were the best years of my life. The mood that you set with this performance is like a portal back to those wonderful days.
Tes mots sont beaux 👌
The trees are listening, the birds sing along, beautiful!
That static loud drone alone & a flying quiet drone with light effects at night => UFO sightings in the local newspaper.
-"It had a mesmerizing sound which made me feel good. I think they came in peace"
oh shoot we posted similar comments...
Great work. Thank you very much for sharing this!! 👍👍
Very atmospheric. like your sound I just subscribed to your Spotify Love your sound guys

@@droneinthewoods My bad. There was someone with the same name as you, but just Shorten to Dorn. I thought that was you Sorry about that
What you are doing here is very special. I hope you keep it up.
We're planning on jamming with this set up this summer 🌞
อย่างเจ๋งเลยครับ ❤🎉 Awesome
Thank you very much! :)
Really beautifully crafted, evolving piece. And your studio is gorgeous!
Thank you :) I'm very lucky to have found the location - it was where I found a drone..... In the woods!
My woods all have traffic noise. Keep up the beautiful work.❤❤❤
There's a little traffic noise here but it isn't constant so it can often add to the mix with a dash of reverb!
✨️✨️✨️🌟🌟Tasty sounds here. I have a portable setup and should get outdoors now that the snow is gone. Great to have discovered you!🌟🌟✨️✨️✨️
Thanks! Whereabouts in the world are you? I'd love to do a snow jam but it's too warm here in the south of England to get proper snow anymore
Me encanta ese ambiente que has encontrado para hacer música desde la naturaleza, felicidades y gracias por compatirlo.
I REALLY😇 love this concept of going out into nature and performing such fine music. Thank you for such a great idea!!!
I❤ these sounds‼️ from HIROSHIMA,JAPAN🇯🇵

smooth, relaxing, majestic and taking it´s time. beautiful! I do that too just with a synth and some pedals but I prefer to do it at night. reviving magic moments...
Excellent 👍
Stunning solo session!
Damn that Cube Street seems great..!
beautiful jam!
I love your concept, and certainly I admire your courage in performing amid such an imposing crowd of trees. Good work!
Really enjoyed this journey. Your video style is so relaxing too. I'll listen many times I'm sure.
Very nice vibes.
:3 Nice music and walking through the forest, fellow musician.

U got it man, beautiful
simply magical!
I really like this. Restorative
29:00 Love the step aside and listen part. Some distant mics could pan the depths. Hope Saskwatch enjoyed as well.
nice stuff! how do you power all the equiptment?
Batteries and usb powerbanks
love this
NICE ONE.
lovely vibes. nature is everything. i would like to sample some of your nice ambient music?
Hi, thanks :) I'm happy for you to sample any of my videos as long as I'm credited in anything you upload or release. If you wanted to collaborate on something then I could send you the audio files... Prob easier to chat on SoundCloud than here Check out drone-in-the-woods on #SoundCloud

@@droneinthewoods nice, i put credits on the tracks or projects if i use something. i will hear through the material and hit you up for specific samples via soundclound.
Wow Dude, your sub count is snowballing already, you were 25 off 1k last week I think. This was a super chill improv, I enjoyed it a lot and it did indeed chill me out, which was nice.
Thanks matey. This one was pure improv, I had no idea what I was going to do!
omg, can you make a 200 hours long video??? thank you so much, love from Chile ☺
🤣🤣 that's a whole week! I could try 😜
@@droneinthewoods hahaha i mean just a loop video playing for at least 8 hours, 200 are too much lol, than you
@@AsistenciaLubri I'm not going to make an 8 hour music loop, but I would like to either make a mix of my music and put a video loop to it, or organise an 8 hour long drone jam with other artists :)
@@droneinthewoods Cool, im gonna wait for it, im a big fan of your music, love from Chile!!!
!!!!!!🙏
How do you mange the energy supplies deep in the woods?
Batteries and usb power banks
Have a synth and a guitar and always dreamed of making music like this but never managed to learn how. Your music inspired me too keep this dream.
Any advices for a beginner who want to jam one day like you in the wood?
Thanks :) my main advice would be to get stuff that runs off DC as it's easier to power from batteries
10/10
Amazing Idea ! how did you manage the power supply for the crave and the sh01 ?
The sh01 takes batteries and i run the Crave off a usb power bank with ripcord
Very nice i want to to do the. Same. But the. Eleectricity where did you find?
Batteries and usb power banks
My cat is my musical adviser.
So good! Using the relative silence of the woods to your advantage right there!
Subscribed, i like your stuff, i'm trying to do something similar myself. Inspiring
Do it :)
So cool. how do you electrically power all the pedals and your amplifier?
Batteries and usb power banks
@@droneinthewoods Ok for the amp usb power bank is enough, what kind of power bank do you use?
@@lamala2000 the amp takes 8 x AAs. just regular small power banks. The crave needs a couple of Amps at 12 V
Hey brother, absolutely stunning music! Are you bringing a small, quiet generator out there for power?
Batteries and usb power bank :)
@@droneinthewoods nice! Care to share which ones you are using?
@@ilyandilymusic just small ones that are for recharging phones etc. the Crave needs a little bit more juice but I've got one that delivers a couple of amps. The amps are more important than the milliamphours that they advertise to make their product look better
This is so beautiful and inspiring! Are you running everything of of a big battery?
Most of it takes internal batteries and use usb power banks and ripcords for the rest :)
@@droneinthewoods interesting! what is the usb powerbank plugger into?
@@Wjprinzi a MyVolts 12V DC adaptor for the Crave
No camera or road crew to pack the gear?!?
That'd be nice! 🤣
@@droneinthewoodsThat’s a fair bit of gear to haul. I used to have someone on camera who would at least help if it was a few blocks away. That’s at least two trips to the vehicle for me! Is it close to home?
@@Shepp-19 it's across the road from a car park, i can carry this a 100m or so otherwise I'd use a trolley if going further on my own
Great performance! Super inspiring! Can you tell me how did you power up everything? And what devices did you (midi) sync? Just learning over here. Peace.
It's all on batteries or usb power banks and ripcords. Midi chain is MC101 into the Crave into the looper. The Gaia isn't synced it's just doin the pad :)
@@droneinthewoods thanks, really helpful! I was searching for a looper that can midi sync :)
Прям Main craft какой-то, музыка синтетическая , но чилит...
Thumbs up for the title alone!🙂👊 (how do you power your gear?)
Most stuff takes batteries and I have a couple of ripcords with usb power banks too
Sounds nice. How do you power your equipment in the woods?
AA batteries and USB power banks
Da steppt der Bär
Can i asi what kind of mixint or mastering do you apply after recording??
I think for this one I recorded a stereo out from my amp as a mix of synths and guitar and then the other guys were recorded via microphones in front of their amps. Mixing it in Logic, I just have to cut some mid and put a touch of reverb on any ambient mics
I WISH DRONE AND AMBIENT TOOK OVER.ROCK AND METAL HAVE BECOME TOO GENERIC😡
WELL DONE AND KEEP IT UP.
Very cool idea. The music was great. Definitely get a new camera and take some time to learn the fundamentals of videography tho. Unless you were going for a camcorder lo-fi vibe I guess ... but 24p will look a lot better than 60p IMO. One light and proper exposure would work wonders.
I don't really get the time to set up cameras properly, I'm just after the jam. My laptop can't handle high res video either so I guess I'm stuck here anyway until I can afford better equipment :)
Я ТОЖЕ ТАК ХОЧУ!!!
very nice! are you running off a battery?
Yeah batteries and usb power banks
what are those red-white patch cables? the stereo ones? I've been searching for them for a while
All the cables going into the desk are just jack-jacks other than the red/white pair which is a stereo mini-jack to 2 x mono RCAs with jack adaptors
anything
too much stuff
Oh fuck !!!
amazing
