This is a fun TR mission.. lots of variations .. eg. you can fly this at low-level, to practice terrain-masking with the hills/mountains. Also, the SA-2 sites have manpads and aaa, so you can use that to practice defending / dial in your countermeasure programs.
And the SA-4 group is mobile .. so you can practice using FCR & TGP in coordination with HAD, to pinpoint the radars and set precision markpoints. (This is not easy, at least in current version of BMS.) But it's a very useful combination for deploying SDBs or Mavericks etc for DEAD work.
very nice video! You can also minimise the scan interval for the HAS (harm as sensor mode) by narrowing down the emitters the harm will scan for. You can do this by hitting the SRCH Button on the upper side of the MFD when the HAS page is on it. Then you select which emitters the harm sensor scans for. This really makes the time it needs to scan shorter.
Hey man! Great video. Quick question. At 11:34 you are cycling through the TBL of HAS Mode. You have pages up to TBL6. I am only seeing TBL1-2-3. Would you know why that would that be? Thanks.
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying it! The HARM tables have changed a bit since 4.35, unfortunately my video is a bit outdated here. Really should make new videos ot the 4.37 training missions. 😅
Thank you very much Stevie. are you going to continue these "training missions"? i will be very glad if you can. You have been very helpful in my bms training.
hey Stevie, great Tutorial. Slowly getting my way through BMS as DCS is getting kinda stale. I wanna ask, did you make your own kneeboards? That one with all the radar codes seems handy, do you think you can share them with us or point me to where I can get them? Thanks!
Thanks! Yeah, I made those and added them with Weapon Delivery Planner. You can add basically any images to your kneeboards, best in a 1:2 ratio. Here are the ones I used for the Training Mission videos: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1jcxTrC3T5bUFFDVx0oayTF5Y5QIUfOIS?usp=sharing
@@steviesgames Thanks lot. Didn't expect to get a reply so soon, I took a screenshot of the relevant pages from the Threat guide and stuck them up WDP. The ones you shared will be a better version to use. Thanks again!
Stevie, what are you using to zoom in if you're using TrackIR? The "L" / Look Closer button, or is your TrackIR setup to zoom in that much that fast when you lean forward?
Hiya Stevie how do you get hold of the different theatres ive tried benchmarksims but just cannot find them. im looking for theatres for 4.34 and 4.35. Thanks
Here's a list of the current theaters for 4.35: forum.falcon-bms.com/topic/21291/bms-4-35-theater-list Most of the theaters (also 4.34, I think) you'll find here: forum.falcon-bms.com/category/8/theater-discussion
Stevie, can you do a video like airithex suggested earlier...using FCR & TGP in coordination with HAD, to pinpoint the radars and set precision markpoints?
Loving this tutorial series! Re HARM .. what I still haven't seen, is ACMI TacView comparison of the different HARM glide modes.. also I've often wondered if RUK vs PM vs EOM have different trajectories. I've been told various things.. eg. PB is best for long-range (SEAD) and RUK is best for short-range, faster time-to-target (self-defense / popup threats). But I don't know how true any of that is .. in RL or in BMS.
@@steviesgames I suspect that's where the RUK/PB/EOM distinction comes into its own .. viz. how early the seeker activates -- and so, at what point the missile either decides to "flex" to a different emitter, or "glide" to loiter over/toward the target markpoint. Will be pretty hard to setup a reproducible test case for this.. esp. the difference between LOTG vs EOMG which isn't clear at all from the dash-34 doc. Maybe need a human wingman to trespass/egress while you fire a missile from further outside wez, to try to get the radar to switch off.
@@arithex As far I understood it, LOTG is "Loss of Track Glide", the seeker had a track once but lost it, so it knows roughly where the target should be. EOMG "Equations of Motion Glide" is when the target has not been detected yet, so the time of flight is increased and the seeker FOV is widened to maximize the chance of detection or increase the time of suppression. That's what I've read - no idea how it actually looks / works out. :D
@@steviesgames yeah I kinda get that it might have different tracking modes in those cases .. just not sure how that maps to the various T/I modes -- ie. what does "NC" stand for, and when would I want to apply that. if you figure it out .. def worth a followup tutorial video!
may i ask were did you get the kneeboard, mine seems different doesnt have pictures or information that you have in that training mission edit: also how to use MFDs and Kneeboard while the game is paused ?
Thanks for the tutorial, I now have the courage to attempt my first SEAD/DEAD mission in the campaign.
I really appreciate these tutorial videos, thanks for making them. Nice and clear, no fluff and just the right length.
Thanks!

Awesome I will learn a few things. There are large gaps between me using Harms. Thanks for the shout-out!

@@steviesgames That's great! thank you :)
Same here, thanks stevie
I absolutely love your commentary :D
I really should do some Weasel missions in BMS lol. Thanks for the help in understanding the HARM.
Thanks! Yeah, weaseling is great fun! And it's absolutely awesome with other human players!
Thank you for a successful and educational video.
How can we see the pilot image at 4.35?
Mine shows an empty seat.
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying it!
To toggle the pilot model press "ALT and C", release it, and then press "P".
Great tutorial. I have just killed my first 2 SAMs in BMS thanks to You.

For zooming I have "FOV" (field of view) bound to the big slider on my throttle. I had tried with leaning forward, but that didn't work for me at all.

Question: Can you send me the mission?
I'll send you a smiley on Discord! So that you know who I am!
This is one of the training missions that come with BMS. You can find it under "Tactical Engagements".
