I hear it so often said in the living Latin movement that you gotta use “active Latin” , “learn actively” , “speak Latin” etc. etc. as the alternative to the grammar translation method but really, a lot of great learning happens when you prioritise comprehending large amounts of input and not worry so much about production until you’ve had a good foundation of familiarity with the language. The whole “communicative = you talking a lot” is a misunderstanding
