Metro Rebel has Bybre callipers. Metro Dapper doesn’t have that. This, and the paint scheme are the only differences.
I have this exact same color, got it in Nov 2022. Took it on 2 big rides, one was 835 kms and another 1200 kms and it is amazing for the most part.
Pros:
1. It is so effin compact that you can take easy U turns even on tiny roads.
2. Doesn’t require much downshifting. Just tug at the accelerator and it just pulls cleanly man, oh my god.
3. Pretty VFM.
4. Amazing in the city.
5. This bike gets the basics right, as in, there’s not much features like “slipper clutch, traction control, turn by turn navigation (this is available as an accessory though). For a practical commuter, these are just gimmicks.
6. Doesn’t feel heavy at all. I mean, its 180 odd kgs, but minute 2 of riding it, starts feeling like a Splendor.
Cons:
1. It doesn’t have enough juice on the highway, overtakes are fine but cruising is a bit off. Struggles to sustain anything beyond 100 kmph.
2. Suspension is largely inexistent.
3. Clutch is a bit hard for the city. That’s an RE thing.
4. Accessories are costly AF. For example, the mirrors that come with the bike are trash and RE sells better mirrors for a whopping 7k. Local dealers would give you a 10% discount and that’s about it. I mean, that brand sells keychains for 400+ bucks.
5. RE’s service network is huge but the service is woeful. Quantity over quality.
Overall, this is a great option for people who mostly commute but take it out on an occasional weekend spin at times. I’m an RE hater, I wanted to get Jawa 42, but the Hunter test drive that I took, it tugged at my heartstrings. I’m enjoying owning this little monster. ❤️
The same happened to me. I was considering Jawa 42 but after the test ride, ended up with Hunter
But the dapper series does have the bybre logo.. so I’m not fully sure if it’s cost cutting/royalty or something like that

This J series engine get hot in traffic and is having good torque as you mentioned. Hunter is for short riders, for someone who is 5'8 it would be difficult.
