I love how people blame Google or the GPS. You have control of the car/yourself. If it doesn't look right, don't do it. I used to drive a lot for work. Many times the GPS would try to put on a road that no longer existed, or in the winter time put me on a gravel side road that was unplowed. I made the decision to keep driving and I'd figure out an alternate, and I always did.

My In-Law's are Original Owners on their current home. They purchased it while it was still under construction. If I remember correctly, it took Google well over a year before the address appeared on Google Maps correctly, and several months more before proper directions were provided. It was a 55+ Dell Web Complex that was built around a central pond. There was a ring road and most of the houses were on streets that came off the ring road. Each "pair" of streets was a loop that started from the ring road, traveled at a roughly 90 deg angle from the Ring and did a gentle 180 deg turn and came back to the ring road. To this day, sometimes the directions will take you into the longer route, rather than skipping the first part of the street and sending one to the more direct and shorter direction at the second street...
One time ‘Apple Maps’ told my mom to turn left, and I was in the car with her, if she would have turned left we would have gotten hit by a car. It wanted us to turn into a one way lane.
Once google maps was actually right but my sister was like “hey this way looks faster why don’t we just drive that way”, turns out it was a one way road but the cars were not going too fast so they just stopped and start honking and my sister had to back out

The road abruptly ended and it turned into dirt then there was a slight drop where an overpass was going to be built. A lot of drivers crashed there and had taken out cones and signs stating the road was closed Making an entire mess of the situation. Luckily i dont think anyome died, but lots of damege to vehicles occurred.

The dump truck drivers, who were apparently loaded up with Google Maps on their phones, started following the same route across the property, through a rainfall catch basin, and over the sidewalk and curb onto the street. There were enough trips on this route that Google Maps thought, "There must be a road there now." and started displaying a road across this empty acreage.

I had a minor problem with maps in 2011. it was the first year I got a smartphone and I was using google maps all the time. I was on vacation in Denver, CO and was planning on going to the Six Flags there. Google maps took me to some closed maintenance employee entrance which was on a different highway ramp. I was basically lost for a couple hours. Pretty much giving up, I got back on the freeway and the very next exit was a big sign that said Six Flags next exit 😂

I live in a rural area and was driving around some back country roads. I had apparently taken a wrong turn at some point and become a little disoriented, so I turned on Google maps to find my way back to the highway and Google is like in 500ft turn right, and I pull up to what was clearly at one point in time a road, but had definitely been abandoned for decades, there was a big metal bridge that had collapsed into the creek it was crossing, so I had to turn around and drive in the opposite direction until google recalculated my route.
I feel like the assassination mistake, if true, is probably the worst. I mean, imagine your parents died, you were sent to jail for their deaths, and then you find out they weren't even supposed to die.

Last year i was traveling in germany with my father. he drove and i helped with the navigation. we wanted to go to Brandenburg so i used google maps. Brandenburg is close to Berlin. On the highway my father was suprised that the way we were following is not in the direction that leads near Berlin. I checked the maps and turns out google set our destination in the midle of a forest far away from the real Brandenburg

Even if your phone shows no signal, there's a chance you can get a 911 call through. Your phone will find the strongest signal around regardless of provider to attempt an emergency call.
The girl who got lost in the desert: I had the same thing happen to me in Mexico. I was driving in the middle of the night and had accidentally turned off the expressway and onto a parallel windy slow 2 lane road. I was not using google maps up until this point as I thought I knew the way from Guadalajara. I pulled out google maps, and put Puerto Vallarta as my destination. I looked at the map and I could see that it was guiding me back to the expressway. I started following the directions. Everything was going fine until the directions said "In 200 metres, turn left" I looked and said, "I don't think that is correct" to my dad, who was sitting in the passenger seat. Sure enough, when the map said "turn left", I looked at the road that it was trying to guide me down, then said to my dad "there is no way in hell I am going down that road", and continued along the road I was on. Eventually, google maps realized that I was not going to go down that road, and it then redirected me through the town of Tequila, back onto the expressway. I finally knew I was at the right place when I saw the toll booth ahead. I paid the $37 pesos, then turned off google maps and continued along the main highway into PV.

Google maps hasn't updated it's view over my street since 2018 and it shows a red car and a white station wagon which I don't own anymore.

I had a minor problem with maps in 2011. it was the first year I got a smartphone and I was using google maps all the time. I was on vacation in Denver, CO and was planning on going to the Six Flags there. Google maps took me to some closed maintenance employee entrance which was on a different highway ramp. I was basically lost for a couple hours. Pretty much giving up, I got back on the freeway and the very next exit was a big sign that said Six Flags next exit 😂
It’s scary how so many people rely on Google maps and don’t even use a second source. It’s not really a problem for average people, but militaries using it as their only reference is frightening.

That googlemap pic of the wife on a bench with a man; I would have claimed it was me yes but the man was a stranger getting a heartattack and I was holding him until the ambulance arrived...that was my first impression of the pic anyway, her helping someone. Sometimes you need to think before you answer, could have saved her marriage!

Google maps did the same thing to me on a road trip. Was in New Mexico or Arizona and needed gas, told me to pull off on a middle of nowhere road and some common sense just said go to the next gas station. Was another 10 miles or so but there was actually gas lol

I was on my first long drive through the state and made a wrong exit on the highway so google maps wanted me to drive through some private property buildings where I got stopped by a concerned but very friendly old man when i pulled up to the entrance😅

Im 4 days late man
I live in a rural area and was driving around some back country roads. I had apparently taken a wrong turn at some point and become a little disoriented, so I turned on Google maps to find my way back to the highway and Google is like in 500ft turn right, and I pull up to what was clearly at one point in time a road, but had definitely been abandoned for decades, there was a big metal bridge that had collapsed into the creek it was crossing, so I had to turn around and drive in the opposite direction until google recalculated my route.
Who would kill their own parents, I believe that guy’s innocent

The fact that even though Google directed her twards a highway, she still decided to cross it anyway. I think that lady should have instead sued her own brain.
I also love the fact that people think China needs to look at google maps to get a sneak peak at other countries military bases. I think it is safe to assume every major country in the world know about every countries Military bases, be they apparently secret or not. Also how can you claim a base is secret when it is situated in one of your higher densely populated cities.

Last year i was traveling in germany with my father.
he drove and i helped with the navigation. we wanted to go to Brandenburg so i used google maps. Brandenburg is close to Berlin. On the highway my father was suprised that the way we were following is not in the direction that leads near Berlin. I checked the maps and turns out google set our destination in the midle of a forest far away from the real Brandenburg
What? Brandenburg is a State and a City. If you entered just Brandenburg obviously it'll send you to the center of the State. Blaming Google for that is idiotic, it's clearly User Error.
In my rural NH town there are roads which have been closed to traffic for years, but Google Maps shows them as through roads.

The biggest mistake is the last one. Google should have been sued for the warning not showing up on blackberry phones. And the fact that the woman could have died. Last time I checked that's a reasonable law suit
I know this was 4 months ago but you really thought the woman should have won she was the one who went cross a highway with the cars and she had a choice to not cross but she tried and got hit so I'm glad Google won
Even if your phone shows no signal, there's a chance you can get a 911 call through. Your phone will find the strongest signal around regardless of provider to attempt an emergency call.
It used to work even without SIM card inserted, but those times are gone by some time already - at least in Europe (112 instead of 911).
The girl who got lost in the desert: I had the same thing happen to me in Mexico. I was driving in the middle of the night and had accidentally turned off the expressway and onto a parallel windy slow 2 lane road. I was not using google maps up until this point as I thought I knew the way from Guadalajara. I pulled out google maps, and put Puerto Vallarta as my destination. I looked at the map and I could see that it was guiding me back to the expressway. I started following the directions. Everything was going fine until the directions said "In 200 metres, turn left" I looked and said, "I don't think that is correct" to my dad, who was sitting in the passenger seat. Sure enough, when the map said "turn left", I looked at the road that it was trying to guide me down, then said to my dad "there is no way in hell I am going down that road", and continued along the road I was on. Eventually, google maps realized that I was not going to go down that road, and it then redirected me through the town of Tequila, back onto the expressway. I finally knew I was at the right place when I saw the toll booth ahead. I paid the $37 pesos, then turned off google maps and continued along the main highway into PV.
