Well to be compeletely honest; Abdulhamid the Second actually left a way bigger army in the balkans I think it numbered around 750.000. And the people who overthrown him actually demobilized a lot of the army and fired lots of people who were opposing them. Plus, two more things: They sent a good portion of the remaining army and its supplies to yemen for the ongoing rebellion and they made peace between the balkan countries by uniting their church when Abdulhamid the Second actually used that against them so that they couldn't unite and attack the empire. So the young turk government did EVERYTHİNG wrong for the balkan wars

I didnt realize how close ww1 and the first balkan war was. It mustve been hard for the balkan civilians to endure such an extended period of war. Great vid
greeks were fighting almost continiously for 40 years , balkan wars, then ww1 then asia minor campaign , ww2 and the civil war 1946-1949. Greece in the 50's was a broken state, sending immigrants left and right in order to survive.
You should study the roads to WW1 in more detail! The Balkan Wars were part of the events that would lead to or influence WW1. For a good start, Wikipedia has a sidebar of a lot of the events that lead to WW1 beginning from the Franco-Prussian war, I can try telling you how to find it if you can't.

It was the same war just it escalated further in to a Big War . At the time it was called the Big War. It was renamed in to World War one only affter the World War two. Austria wasnt satisfied with Russia getting such huge teritories and Britain and French getting smaller catch , but Austria didnt get anything out of the 1912-1913 colonial wars . Including African colonies , so thats why it escalated in to a Big War .

WW1 was essentially a whole bunch of small and large conflicts, as well as decades of tension that tie together in 1914 and sparks when Archduke Franz Ferdinand was shot by a Bosnian Serb... in Sarajevo. WW1 quite literally begun in the Balkans. Connecting the dots will lead you to conclude that the Balkan conflict occurring 1-2 years prior is related.
I'm amazed that the Ottoman Empire was able to muster 850k soldiers towards the end of the war.

The Balkan states took great advantage of the Ottoman weakness (especially after the Italo-Turkish war) and the results for them were enormous. It’s crazy to think the Bulgarians could have actually taken Constantinople had the Ottomans lost the battle there in 1912! Unfortunately the persecution of Ottoman Muslims during their contraction and retreat from the area really blew up during and after the Balkan wars.
The Muslim Ottoman Empire had been heavily oppressing the Christian populations for centuries. These people narrowly escaped the genocide of the Armenians and the Anatolian Greeks

Not Bulgarian but Serbian Army was take Jedrene and go to the Carigrad to take back Christian Temple Sant Sofia but allies from West stop Serbia in that operation.Today, Carigrad will be City of Serbian, Bulgarian and Greece people if West didn't stop the offensive operations.Serbia was having the strongest Army on the Balkan.

The majority of loses were civilians in Albanian population. In west fighting against the Turks was just a pretext. In reality they were committing atrocities and ethnic cleansing on native civilians that were still occupied under Ottoman Empire.

Me and my history friend for some reason, like Bulgaria for just being there. When we are playing a nation game of some sorts, we will always do a scenario where Bulgaria will have some sort of territorial gain.
Just a lil fun fact.
This is what happens when small nations fight side by side. We don't need to depend on distant great powers for defense, but each other.

Seems impossible but our Serbian ancestors have done it.They fought and won three wars from 1912 to 1918.
Although victories over Turkey, Austria-Hungary, Germany and Bulgaria came at a cost, 26-28 % of Serbs died in those six years.

That is not only Bulgarian army, that is the Serbian army, Greece army and Bulgarian army.
That's the Bulgarian army. We mobilised almost every able bodied man in the country to fight. There is no family in Bulgaria without at least one family member that wasn't in the Balkan Wars.

The Turks learned from their mistakes in this war very well. They cleansed Anatolia (their last stronghold) of all elements of orthodox Christianity. The Armenians and the Greeks of Asia Minor were actually the victims of this war when you think about it.
This is a excellent perspective. There are millions of people living in Turkey who do not have this perspective on this issue.
Yeah, one of the biggest mistakes of Ottoman Empire was not oppressing the people they conquered enough. Majortiy of Balkans got to keep their language, culture and identity. By not erasing these, the empire prepared itself for inevitable fight for independence. They should have learned from British, Portugese and Spanish. They assimilated their colonies and were able to influence them until even today. Their former colonies still speak their language and practice their religion.

ottoman never tried forceful reversion bcs in islam forcing is forbidden (quran chapter 2:256 and whole chapter of 109) reason why albanians and bosnians became majority muslims is bcs of dawah (inviting people to islam) centuries of giving them dawah made them muslim, ottoman probably tried it with others too but didnt succeed, the similiar thing happened with indonesia and malaysia they became muslims too with centuries of giving dawah to them bcs of muslim merchants

I see almost all of people here ignoring terrible methods of Otomans on how to recruiting soldiers. In Serbia, they tooked thousand of male children from families and trained them in Istanbul to be most powerful forces (Janicar's).
This is a bit like saying "you gotta respect how the US fought their enemies alone". It's a superpower (or was for a while) fighting weaker countries, nothing special about that.
Here the Ottoman Empire had a larger population than all these Balkan states put together.

It’s worth noting that Gr eece was competitive at that time and there were arguments for which land needed to be conquered first
Greece ended up capturing Macedonia and its capital preventing the Bulgarians from doing so which can be traced back to the Macedonian war against Greece and Bulgaria which wasn’t official but elite units were sent to force citizenship and stop the enemy form doing so
In that war Greece had a great success
What a lie. There never were 850 thousand Turkish troops on the Thracian front during that war. Nor anything near that number.

@@MicroHamsy When the war started the Ottomans had 295 thousands men in their army in Thracia and Macedonia according to official data. 180 thousands in Macedonia and Epirus, and 115 thousands in Thrace. There also were around 5 thousands of Turkish soldiers on the Aegean islands - mostly on Chios and Lesbos.
After the start of war Turks had big problem to bring soldiers to the fronts, because Greek navy controlled the sea, and Bulgaria controlled the roads and the railway lines.
This is why no Turkish army never came to aid their powers in Macedonia, Albania or islands. The only army that was strengthened by Turks was that of Thrace. It was strengthened by railways, that had limited potential of transporting men. Of course when the frontline came to Chatalja near Constantinople the transportation became easier.
Anyhow, according to most trustworthy historians of the Balkan wars, the total number of Turkish soldiers on the Thracian front during all 7 months of war was around 450 thousand men.
It is truth that after after the start of war Turks started more energetically mobilisation in Albania and Epirus (in Macedonia they lost time to do so). But even like that they only gathered about 1 or 2 divithions (20-30 thousand men).
Also it have to be mentioned, that except the regular army in Macedonia, Kosovo and Albania acted Albanian so called “irregulars”, which was not an army soldiers really, but many gang bands with self weapons. It is really hard to count how many they were, but in some battles there were fighting up to 4-5 thousands Albanian “irregulars” against Serbs and Greeks.

I am half Balkan Turk myself and what the bulgariens did after this war is horrible.
Shouldn't you also show with Turkish flags the Ottoman garrisons on the islands. There were brutal battles given for these islands, especially Chios and Lesbos
