Thanks for this Melissa! I walked backwards into my cleaning business ( I was just going to help out a few of my mom's friends until I got another teaching job). I found that I loved cleaning (and am good at it!) but now I have 12-15 houses per week with about 10 people on my waiting list. So now I have to backtrack a little and hire someone and actually start my business in earnest! This is very helpful!!

Hi, I realize this is a year old but I wonder if you could talk about some nuts and bolts when you got started. Like day 1, what did you do? How did you get your first customer, especially your first non-family or friend customer? And have you had customers who were difficult or didn't pay? When did you hire your first employee? Very interesting.

Melissa, I have been subscribed to your Clean My Space channel for a little bit now, and decided to check out this other one and I want to give you a hug for this video! My husband and I have been talking about how we're going to transition from his full time job to his part time side job (to make it his full time job at some point) and although the video didn't give the answer per say, it is very encouraging to hear other entrepreneurs talk about their experiences and know that although challenging, you can get through them. I appreciate you making this video and the other one where you shared your personal experience. It was encouraging and inspirational. Thanks!!

Hi Melissa, first I just want to say I love all your videos! Can you please make more RUclips videos on your personal channel about your business? It's really hard to find videos with successful young women such as yourself talking about: managing people, running projects, expanding your business, organizing finances, etc .... As a young professional woman myself (and a Canadian!) your videos really inspire me and I would love to hear what you think on these topics!! Thanks!!

I love these entrepreneurship videos! I would love to see more of this. I'm interested to know what specific highs and lows you've experienced in your business journey. I would also be interested in knowing how you advertised and grew your business. Also, do you go into an office every day, solely work from home, etc..? I would love to hear from Chad too. Great videos!

I watched this video about a week ago and it really brought something out in me. I've had my ideas to streamline things in past jobs that were poo-pooed and someone else ran with my idea. I'm having a problem finding a product for homeschooling and it is not out there. I have an idea and shared it with my husband and we're moving forward with it. Thank you.

Thanks for this video and the previous one. I don't have a business background, so would be great if you could do business 101-type videos. I'll be checking your business books video now. :)

Thank you so much Melissa You were very amazing explaining the business entrepreneur ways and starting out, quite frankly I've been in a dead end job as a Construction worker, For me. I don't see myself joining a leadership position in the actual work I do, I've been offered leadership position and I've set my goals to a minimum, like out of high school I stopped dreaming. I fell into the state of well time to make money.. I'm only 21 by the way but in those thoughts I lowered my standards and pretty much have up.. I have so much more potential, I'm belittled at my job well because I can't relate I have other thinks on my mind.. What I need is people that think and have a vision as me.. I tell them my vision .. so they listen and they point out the bad negative thoughts. it drains my vision to with witch I feel I blend in and dreams fade.. I need a way out or a reasonable talk to avoid this black whole and shine like the stars, Poetic haha.. anyway I know your busy, Very! but it would mean the world to me if you could advise me some wisdom. . Thanks so much ps New Sub

Mario! DaBoss,Ignore those negative naysayers and move forward to pursue your business and do what makes you happy. Find other business owners to bounce your thoughts off of and find someone who can mentor you. Look up the Small Business Administration and SCORE, they have free business help and advice. Best wishes to you and don't give up. You got this!!!!!

hi melissa, thank you so much for sharing your story! unlike you, i actually never thought about being an entrepreneur, and i never thought about business. i always found both of those to be "not me" and just didnt understand them. i actually began to think of having a side business as an option for myself very recently and thanks to you, i got really good tips and information to start off with. can you do more videos on your business and how you started it. what challenges do you face? how do you balance books? any information of the nuts and bolts of starting up?

This video was great! I'd be so interested to hear about how you built up your business, and what steps you took to go from being one woman cleaning to hiring employees and building up. How did you knew when you and your business were ready for such steps and how did you get there?

Awesome Video Melissa! The best thing about this video is that its all true and raw. You either have the mindset or you don't. But can you actually put yourself into the mindset of an entrepreneur? I say ABSOLUTELY! It's a matter of how bad do you want it!

I meant to say thank you for sharing your thoughts on this topic, I love your honesty and refreshing perspective :). People always talk about the ups and downs of business, but what people never give are examples, specifically of the downs they experience, can you share some examples of some of the lows you've encountered?

Thanks for your excellent videos. I think support from others is important for an entrepreneur, so I wonder how you would respond to people you trust, if they were to say that you are not cut out for it. I've always thought I had an entrepreneurial mindset, but I seem to be surrounded by people who want to shut down my ideas. I guess I am asking: have you had that kind of experience and how have you dealt with it? Is it best to ignore their counsel/advice?

Hi Melissa, I'm new to your channel and wanted to say that I found your video to be very informative and helpful. Thank you for sharing your experience and insight with us. I've recently decided to start my own cleaning business and I'm presently in the research phase of it all. I would like to hear more about how you marketed yourself in the early stages of your business. How did you set yourself apart from all the competition before you established solid references and paid experience?

This would be a good time for me to dabble in a little hobby that I would turn into a business in the future because 1. I have husband that has a great job that eventually going to into a career (in other words his is set) 2. My 2 older boys we finally be in school this month leaving me with just one son 3. I'm a homemaker with brand new pc with internet (I can do plenty of research)
But unfortunately I don't have a mentor and I don't think anyone has any confidence in me to do anything.
