Hey Dan! That’s so kind of you!! Really appreciate you watching! I also came from blues before getting into gypsy jazz. The way of thinking when soloing is so different! It takes time to get but it’s worth persevering with 🎸😀
I'm putting you're gypsy technique into banjo and steel guitar also my stage name is sky dan.ille soon be flying with you're help thankyou so much for sharing. best teacher ever.i love it.
You just made the enclosures simpler. I was always trying to play a scale note above and 1/2 step below - stressing if I got it right. 1/2 above and below sounds fine.
Glad this helped Greg! Sometimes not overthinking it and just using your ear better. A lot of the top gypsy players don’t know any theory at all! They just know ideas like enclosures as sounds to use!
Thanks, I figured they have certain things memorized - so that's what I've done. Your example of 1/2 step above and below worked and is easy to grab. To get the sound of 1/2 step below - chord tone above, I've now memorized the patterns for the different Major & Minor shapes. No more trying to see the whole scale just for an enclosure.
@@LewisKilvington loving mine, too Played a gig with it last week and best sound I have had. Did John put a big tone in yours? I typically don't like BigTones but this one sounds great.
@@LewisKilvington No that's not what I meant. The accent was no problem, very nice infact. It was words like arpeggio and types of scales that did my head in. This video is for advanced players with knowledge of music theory. I have been trying to play the guitar since about 1965. My guitar sounded much better then than it does now! In fact nobody told me about chords and tuneing until the 1980s. Thousands of hours later my playing is still dreadful, but I persist. I can play the flute though.

Django played with drummers in his late career! Stephane Wrembel's band has drums, electric bass and rhythm guitar, gets some cool textures from it, a much more electric sound
This was what I’ve been looking for!!

Why not!! 😂🎸🎸
Every gypsy jazz guitarist should have a drummer and DO NOT play along to metronome’s 🥁🎸🤘

Yes so long as the drummer is Josef Reinhardt and his kit is a widemouth Maccaferri
