    The Best teacher, I play so loud but then I understand the meaning of dynamics I practice it and now I slowly got a beautiful dynamics of drumming and still continue to explore more learning about drumming properly. God bless sir.

    Dude, I'm not particularly a drummer, but I'm producing music and this video is a RUclips gem. It really is. Thank you! Sharing with with percussionists that I know.

      Thanks so much! I would love for you to share the video, that means the world to me! I make this stuff to (hopefully) help people play drums better. So I'm glad this video can do that for ya! Thanks again.

    Great lesson man! Dynamics is so overlooked, and such a quick way to "sound better".

      Havering and Essex Drum Lessons agreed! It is INSANE how much dynamics can revolutionize your sound.

    Every drummer needs to see this, I'm drummer too, always been playing quiet (unless loud is necessary). It's absurd how loud drummer play at small venues, I don't know if they think they're going to look cool, or they want drums to be in the first plan, but many of them are out of their mind with their "dynamics".

    This is a great video. Fundamental stuff that I have gotten rusty on over the last few years from not playing drums much. Also that snare sounds so good and natural! :)

      Thanks Eddy! Doing what I can man. That is a fun 13 x 6.5 snare. Yamaha Musashi (spelling?) Oak.

    Great video, Tim! I'm glad you're uploading videos more often.
    I'm looking forward to seeing your views and approach to tuning drums.
    P.S. About dynamics: I know for sure is one of the most important thing in a band situation. It makes you sound in a different level. That's why it is important to achieve good technique about this topic.

    Hi Tim.. first of all your lesson was very helpful for me as a musician and a drummer.. very "EduTainment"... 😄😄 by the way can you also make video's that concerns ergonomics of drum.. especially that includes throne heights base on your height.. As for me I'm 5'7 ft tall average height for Asians... ty very much Tim! 😊 hoping for your response!

      Miguel Luis Del Castillo thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it. Ergonomics are NOT my area of speciality- but I’ll see what I can do!

    Drumming for almost 8 years now, and I haven't used rimshots in my whole life! I thoght that rimshot is for 'advanced players' but now I really want to learn and utilize it.
    Is there any good starting point for learning rimshots?

    • @TimBuell
      @TimBuell  6 лет назад +3

      tuna huma glad it helped! Yes, rim shots are the secret to life! I would say just go slow and aim for getting a consistent sound each hit, at a ton of dynamics. Then move to incorporating the rim shots as accents in your rudiments RlrrLrll and such.

    I just wonder if dynamics would still apply for songs that are meant to be loud or fast :/ i wanna apply dynamics even though playing for example SHE by Green Day

    • @TimBuell
      @TimBuell  2 года назад

      Hey! This is a great question. Inner dynamics (the balance of each element of the drum kit while you are playing) is 100% applicable regardless of genre as metal cymbals will always naturally be much louder than drums with plastic heads so we should always try to take things like that into account when playing. But dynamic contrast between sections of songs apply, even on gigs where the music is heavier. A verse of a song being slightly quieter than the chorus or bring the overall dynamic/volume down at the beginning of the bridge and letting it build throughout is always going to make a show more dynamic and interesting - no matter how "loud" the music is. If that makes sense.
