regarding the scarcity of resources. I've been looking around the common pirate locations and Hemp seems to be the hardest resource to come by and I haven't found anywhere that allows you to build other than sugar at any port without a resource investment
this vid is very timely for me. I've been trying to get sevice medals as a new solo player and it's been very difficult. I'm not good enough to do the pvp patrol missions so i've been concentrating on the quest mission. Because my fleet isn't very extensive i've been concentrating on the rank 6 and 7 missions and am up to 8 points for the required 15 and have 3 days left. I've done some calculations and it turns out to get the 15 points needed I will have to sink approximately 90 AI ships in the time alloted. It takes me about 10 minutes for each battle so that equates to 15 hours of real time to accomplish the quest mission. However that doesn't take into account all the time spent searching for the right AI ships in open world or returning to port to restock and unload loot. So in conclusion the grind is incredibly difficult for a solo player doing quest mission just to gain 3 naval service medals and the biggest killer of trying to do this is the time limit on getting it done. The fact you can spend all this time and then fail to get medals is just a kick in the teeth for any type of casual player that it's hard to find the motivation to try. And honestly if you can't get naval service medals then you can't truly progress in this game very far and also the quest mission is probably the easiest to finish
I agree that the grind is currently much too great for naval service medals, and the quest master is much harder to complete reliably since they removed the kill missions. I recommend focusing on the patrol master for now. It's relatively easy to get those combat medals if you choose your targets wisely.
@@kairos468 I looked at patrol mission but in all honesty i'm just a big target for anyone else to get an easy kill with my skill level currently. Unless i'm misunderstanding how patrol mission works of course.
I noticed you don't have to hand in missions before the two weeks peroid ends, so you can effectively stack them up until you have 15 points and only hand them in then, all at once. I'm just slowly completing mines at my own, relaxed pace. Don't forget sinking ships also earns you stuff on its own. Some trading ships hold some seriously valuable stuff. It also gains you XP. You are really hitting three birds with one stone.
KairoS, not related to this video but just wanted to confirm an earlier question you posed. You can get Loki'ed in to in the safe zone. I just got loki'ed in on sailing a Trig and attacking an Essex in the safe zone. I received chain and they turned there sails end on when expecting a volley of chain from me. They also held fire at times and used single shot. I don't think the AI is that good
narh man i don't mind seeing the crafting side, i mean i've never played the game and doubt i will spend any real amount of time playing it due to the wipes and what people say about the devs and company being a bit greedy and close minded listening to feedback like constructive criticism but its really good to see that the game has that side to it and i will download it and try it myself some time your videos will come in handy and it's good to showcase this stuff, it helps others learn and gets people interested in trying out the game.
Yeah, the wipes are a turn off for a lot of people I think. I'm hoping that they'll eventually bring back the war server for people who want a more permanent and channelling game mode, but I'm not holding my breath.
really like naval action dude and your series good split between gameplay and knowledge learning cheers dude and man this game is reminds me of EvE online (best space MMO ever made) due to the crafting and building your own ships and owning industries, you seem to love anything with naval ship / fleet gameplay, maybe in future dude check out EvE online, it's free to play and has a better company and devs than naval action, it has a whole PVE side to the game where you can run missions for agents like the Amarrain navy, with eve online you can keep it as simple as you like or go really deep into PVE and fight inside wormholes and abyssal deadspace, regardless the combat can be very intense, the graphics recently got a massive upgrade (not that were ever bad to begin with) and the ship combat is very reminiscent navy ship sailing and i don't know of any other game that has as good looking space ships, espically the pirate faction ships, there is alot of EvE like being an explorer and diving into wormholes (they are scary places).
Thanks, man! Glad you're enjoying the series so far. I've never played EvE online, but people have compared Naval Action to it before and I enjoy playing Elite Dangerous, so I might have to try it out sometime.
I picked up the game a few days ago and your videos helped a lot with the learning curve, thanks mate! I've leveled up a bit now and i'm thinking of picking up the Hercules DLC. Can you recommend it?
I think the Hercules is the best dlc to start with. It will be outclassed by most other 5th rates, but it can sail in shallow waters, and you can use it to hunt any trade ship on the map.
Devs ruined trading & crafting. Grind is too steep. Started playing in 2018, stopped after last years' horrible patch, came back a couple of months ago, now I'm out. Fair winds
I’m not a fan of this wipe thing I only have time for games 4-5 hours a week this would be an awesome game I love the realism but I’d never get anything done before the next wipe lol
Yeah, it's unfortunate for people who want to play more casually. The wipe isn't really a big deal for me, as I prefer smaller ships, but those 1st rates take a lot of grinding to get hold of.
Keep this going man. You're one of the only RUclipsrs on naval action I still watch. Thank you 😊
Thanks for watching, mate!

Yeah, that sounds right. I've noticed hemp is often sold out in Mortimer Town. I'm glad I invested in it.

That certainly sounds like a Loki to me. Thanks for the information
They should rename it Naval Grinder.
