On the flip side the Chivas stadium is the coolest soccer stadium I've ever been to, every single seat in there has an amazing view and the atmosphere is great.
I knew a Necaxa fan, he told me that they're owned by a cement magnate, strange that he didn't put more of it into his stadium. Whatever you may think of Bullfighting, their Bullrings look classy. Bullrings of Spain and Mexico next, please!
Cruz Azul and Tigres are owned by a cement company and, Tigres stadium is ugly and old, and Cruz Azul, plays in the Azteca, and pays rent, but the president of the team said that they gonna build a new stadium in 5 o 6 years, i hope so.
A lot of the newer stadiums here look like they could be new stadiums in the MLS. I wonder if some of the same design and architecture firms are involved in both leagues.
A quick check of Wikipedia shows that the American firm Populous designed CdG's Estadio Omnilife (formerly Estadio Akron) in Guadalajara and CF Monterrey's Estadio BBVA Bancomer. The list and variety of stadia Populous has designed is truly staggering. Unfortunately it's unlikely, when the previous owner sold the team, he didn't sell the stadium or land to the new owners. If memory serves me right he's trying to evict the club and demolish the stadium to build commercial space and housing.
