- The history of MLS dates back to 1993, shortly before the 1994 World Cup. The first season was played 2 years later, with 10 teams participating. Currently, teams are divided by geography - into the Western and Eastern conferences. For example, in 2023, 14 teams were entered in the Western Conference, while 15 teams were entered in the Eastern Conference.
Footballers such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Beckham, who at one time played overseas, are associated with the MLS league, but the stadiums that grace each league match should not be overlooked. They are certainly a bit different from the European ones, but nevertheless many of them are worth special attention.

Fair play some amazing looking stadiums in the MLS
Revs need a 30k stadium in Boston. They're getting some good 25k to 35k crowds in Gillette but it's a cavernous 70k place, and still looks basically emptyish with 30k peeps in there.
BC Place in Vancouver has the same problem. Need a purpose built stadium.

Believe it or not, they are in the talks of getting their own SSS in Everett Mass. USA.
Here's hoping they get their new Everett stadium
still amazes me, why some grounds are built, without cover on all stands. the atlanta one is really smart inside. and austin was probably my favourite one, on this vid
Brazil's football stadiums are better after the 2014 World Cup, but that's just too much for most Brazilians.

If you think about it, only England, Germany, and probably Spain (its debatable as a whole) are the only countries with better stadiums than the MLS.
Between the MLS preferring purpose built stadiums and its young age as a league have helped with that. The oldest stadiums in the league were either made for other sports, or built for the Olympics. Either way the MLS has a lot of newer stadiums. I have a friend in the U.K. who is extremely jealous of the stadiums here; especially America First field

I guess Qatar also has better stadium than MLS. Because of their new modern high capacity stadiums made due to World cup.

BMO Stadium and BMO Field are two different stadiums. Banc of california is an old name..

I think 30k seats should be the new standard in this league if not bigger.
not many cities can fill up a 30k capacity stadium even nashville this season isnt doing that
@Corrupt_Player Every game doesn't need to be a sell-out to justify bigger stadiums. In 2024, the league average is currently around 23,500. Going to 30-35k allows seats to be cheaper and also means on the dates when you can fill a larger stadium, you have the seats available. Sure, maybe not all markets should go to 30k, but a lot should. I bet LAFC wish they had 30k+ seats. They would probably sell that out too.

As a European I find all these stadiums very strange. You guys do not care about a renovation after 10 or 25 years. Soulless stadiums. All about architecture 😢

its sometimes cheaper to build a new stadium rather than maintain one in a poor condition
