Young adults who are at a higher risk of colon cancer due to factors like a family history of colorectal cancer or type 2 diabetes would definitely benefit from starting screening at an earlier age. Yes my son is early 30s and has stage 3. He is healthy eats right exercises. Gets plenty of sleep so tell me how he he in early 30s . He doesn't smoke or drink nobody in our family has ever had it so they should make starting at 30
That's all bs. The harm from the colonoscopy(perferations,bleeding, and deadly infections as well as infections that require an extended hospital stay)well outweighs the benifit of the screening unless of course you have symptoms. Here in the US they also insist on sedation which every other country can attest is uneeded(more money). The same thing holds with prostate biopsies. Major bs there.

No mention of vascular involvement? I went to stage 3 after surgery because pathology suggested a “possible” vascular involvement, even though there were no lymph nodes affected.

The doctor diagnosed him with this disease
Diagonised with Rectal cancer with liver meta symptoms are blood in stool skin allergy and rashes, 5 days radaition completed by linac IGRT method and and chemo also started 1 cycle completed. But sever pain in rectum while passing stool , and not able to sit. Wearing pampers getting motion like mud.do you suggest anything on this please. age is 68 years is it get any benefit

Its always best to consult with your radiation oncologist, and medical oncologist regarding any pain or new symptoms that you are having. Its important you achieve good pain control and alert your physicians to any new developments. If possible meet with your care team to discuss your concerns and make a plan to address these issues. A second opinion can also help if you are having any concerns about your current treatment protocols or are interested in possible alternatives.
I live in the United Kingdom I found this video very informative in my family there is a history of cancer my mothers two bother had cancer one had stomach cancer the other brother had prostate cancer or bladder cancer but it went to his bones and did not live long after now my brother has cancer bowl and liver i am also getting checked out I have had blood tests I got to do a fit test and a calprotectin I have had polyps in the past a few times one time they was metastatic I just want to ask what is my percentage of me getting cancer i I do have chronic acid reflux and can't swallow right and my food gets stuck then when I drink some water it all comes back am I at high risk of getting oesophageal.cancer as I have been lucky in. The past with having a colonoscopy and a gastronomy what would my percentage be just a rough guess 50/50 or 20/40 thanks for sharing this video it will help alot of people around the would in beating cancer we have a saying in the United Kingdom let's be clear on cancer
Thanks for the very informative video doctor. My father, 64y recently underwent a surgery to remove tumor in his colon. His stage is pT4bN0 (they call it 2c). But the tumor is also MSI-H. No BRAF mutation seen. We are yet to get the big panel genetic test. Meanwhile doctors here in India suggest that because the tumor infiltrated the colon wall to touch a loop in small intestine and PNI is seen, we should give adjuvant Chemo. They are suggesting a 3 month Calepox regime. As per your video, is chemo even right in his case? Can we not think of immunotherapy? Your response will be very helpful

My sister just passed of pancreatic cancer due to PJS, my mom has stage IV metastatic breast cancer due to PJS and it appears I may have intestinal cancer due to PJS (go in this AM for a full hysterectomy and bowel surgery). As you probably know, this is caused by inherited a mutant copy of STK11 gene which can predispose to early development of a variety of cancers. Thank you. The total hysterectomy went well and they ran the outside of my bowels. The Drs don’t feel like there are any intestinal masses, but I am not reassured based on my symptoms. My pathology report showed sex cord tumors in both of my ovaries. Something that was NOT caught in any of the heavy medical surveillance I have been under. Also showed signs of calcifications, which we all know (or should know) aren’t good and are seen as a precursor to cancer. Thank you for spreading awareness! ❤
does it need permanent external stoma if a large annular shaped ulcero-proliferative growth with contact bleeding causing severe luminal narrowing involving the rectosigmoid junction about 15 cm from the anal verge which extends to the upper rectum. Scope couldn't be passed beyond the growth. It's biopsy report is adenocarcinoma grade 1?
Thanks for the great question. This is something you should discuss with your oncology surgeon who specializes in colorectal surgery. There are many surgical options that can preserve the function of the rectum and anus and these should be considered to maintain a high quality of life. You should also have the tumor tested for MSI. Tumors with MSI are seen in association with hereditary colon cancer and young age of development. These tumors respond extremely well to immune therapy and neoadjuvant treatment could help dramatically shrink the tumor and enable more conservative surgery. These are perfect questions to discuss in detail with your cancer care team. Thank you for following the cancer informant.
