My 4 month old puppy doesn’t pull on the lead but she tries to eat every piece of moss or dead grass or stick on the walk. I’ll try a slip lead tomorrow
@@TheDogTherapist we just did our first slip lead walk and you were right. I can stop her eating everything, I have more control. Thank you, I didn’t come home stressed today
Glad you’re enjoying the videos 👍 my golden rule is no sniffing whatsoever. If you train for 100% (so in other words you don’t let the dog get away with anything) you might get 95% I only let my dog sniff the floor when it goes to the toilet and I train dogs to go to the toilet on command. I’ll cover that in another video in a few weeks 👍
Hi mate, I’ve a 16 month cocker who’s been a pain on lead from we got him. Had a trainer out who advised positive only harness bullshit. When i give a correction like this with the slip he seems scared? Is this normal or should i stop the corrections…?
It’s hard to say without seeing the dog. If he seems scared give him lots of encouragement but you’ll still need to correct him if he’s pulling and being a pain. You’ll also need to show him where heel is so he understands properly Some dogs are hard as nails and some are soft and you have to train accordingly to what type of dog you have 👍
Glad you’re enjoying the videos 👍 if the dog is on the lead then it’s always at heel. I obviously let them have play time off the lead BUT when the lead goes on it’s training time and must walk at heel 🐾
If you use my golden rule of “Always Correcting The Behaviour You Don’t Want” then even a novice handler should see results in as quickly as 1 or 2 weeks
I have them specially made for my clients and you can buy them from my website for all breeds. Here’s the link. thedogtherapist.co.uk/products/the-training-slip-lead
