James, thanks for the review.....good content for someone looking to be budget minded. Had a Tikka T3 Lite with stainless barrel and Steiner scope which was a lot to invest. Right now just looking to get another 270 without breaking the bank and this looks like a good place to start again.
I just bought mine in .308--I like it pretty well so far. I did have trouble with a box of Rifle Line (PPU) ammo, SP 180 grain. The shells were hanging up in the chamber after firing. No trouble with any other type of ammo. It may have been a bad batch.
I have no doubt that if you properly bench rested that rifle that you’d see 1MOA or less. What you’re doing in the video is essentially supported off hand shooting. Not bad if you ended up with 1.8-2.5 inch groups. I have it in 308 and have been getting consistently 1 MOA with cheap Federal Power Shock and sub MOA with match ammo. Definitely makes a fine deer gun for the price
Thanks and thank you for coming along to the channel. All things considered the groups are good and I make no claims about being a good shot or representing the rifle. Just giving my take and you and everyone else can take it as you will.
Did you say$300.00 and shoots 1 M.O.A. at 100 yds. Damn bro 40 years ago you paid out the ass for 1 M.O.A. accuracy. Rifles and ammo have really come a long way in that time.
i paid $200 for mine after rebate for my 300 win mag. and with my hand loaded ammo of 220 grains hornady bullet im getting about .70-.75 of a inch constantly.
Looks pretty good for the money. I'm strongly considering one of these since I don't have a 6.5 Creed at the moment and this is one of the better looking options to get one for a good price. The only thing I don't personally like is the bolt handle. It looks a little too "tacticool" for my tastes. To me bolt actions are pretty much always just hunting rifles so I prefer a more traditional looking bolt handle.
Yeah the bolt handle doesn't have that classic look, but one thing I do like about it is that the bolt throw doesn't interfere with the scope. Try the same thing on a similar savage axis and your hand will mash against that scope every time.
Got mine new in .308 Winchester at Academy late summer 2018. At that time, the price was $199.00. Check on 7/15/2019 and they were the $299.00 you stated. Glad I got mine before the price went up.
Great review but you forgot to mention that the trigger is adjustable from about 4.5 down to around 3 lbs. Very easy to adjust and with a lighter trigger, muzzle brake, better bench technique and a left handed gun (considering you're left handed) your groups would be considerably better. The snag in the bolt is due to tight machine tolerances (not typical in budget rifles) and will decrease with use.
Supposedly since the recall in 2016, the triggers aren't actually adjustable anymore. There's still some tricks you can do to get it lighter or you can just buy the aftermarket trigger spring kit from MCARBO.
Ya everyone promises 1MOA with good ammo but what is good ammo? Most hunters are not going to spend 40+ for hunting. 2.5 inches is fine for hunting unless you're spending big money to take a trip out west and hunt something at longer ranges. A guns best accuracy will only show after you shoot several types of ammo and find which one it likes best. Add to that you're not using a rear rest and you could likely get better results. My TC venture in .223 1-12 twist will shoot cheap PMC 55 grain ($11.00 bx) very near 1 moa all day and sometimes getting it and that's fine for me. Try a 69 grain and it'll key hole every shot.
I am left handed and left eye dominant, but after some work, it seems I group about as well right handed and right eyed. Besides, nobody wants to see a lefty work a right handed gun.
is the trigger not adjustable? the ad says it can be adjusted from 3.5 to 5.5... might want to look into that. also is the "snag" on closing the bold due to it engaging the firing pin springs on the way forward ? any chance a good polishing could lighten that snag?
Great review. I had mine for a little over a year, fantastic rifle. Only thing I don't like is the tiny bolt knob, so I made a bolt knob extension for it. If you're interested, I got your name on one. ruclips.net/video/qaNDfe9rv7o/видео.html
Dude no offense but your not doing rifles any favors ...if your left handed and shoot left then shoot it lefty, it's a bolt gun. Use a proper rest or sled , SLOW DOWN, breath, exhale and squeeze. Any hunting rifle accuracy test should be off of a solid rest at 100...three shots not including the cold shot. It shouldn't be a test if your shooting...it's supposed to be about the rifle.
The video you are presenting says nothing else that you are not a good protector. The accuracy of this weapon corresponds to under a Moa with good contactors safely 0.5-0.7 Moa. My gun shoots better at 200 m than the 100 yard shot picture you showed
I just bought one in 308 about a week ago . I finally got out to shoot it . A nice gun .
Nice, I got 3/8 of an inch with my 308 compass. 150 gn with 43 gr 3031
Just picked up the compass 2 in .308. can't wait to find ammo to feed it. Been wanting a compass for a while now, glad I got it.
just went out and purchased one today...seems pretty good..

Good review, I have the TC compass in 243. I agree 100 percent on T/C diffently upgrading those mags and then I''d give the guns 5 stars.
how does your 243 shoot?
My compass .243 has flyers after the 3rd shot. Thin barrel I guess
🤘👍😎
It also comes in .300 Win Mag.
Good review. On shooting rests, a sand bag is better than a hand bag, is better than your hand. Thx!

@@alexcurry5541 thanks, i will check it out, most likely going to get a Savage 93R17, thanks again
You guys are so lucky for pricing I paid like 400 plus tax out the door
Nice review - you are a good shot if you had a sand bag rest I'm sure you would be shooting under MOA.
Thanks and thank you for coming along to the channel. All things considered the groups are good and I make no claims about being a good shot or representing the rifle. Just giving my take and you and everyone else can take it as you will.
The bad trigger is an easy fix with a different spring kit,

You dropped the mag, Paul Rudd.

Get one in 270 got one good for mid size big game
Just found your channel nice stuff i do gun reviews too
Nice to meet you. You have an interesting channel yourself. Hoping to make some hunting related content come wintertime.
@@professorpewpuew thank you
Best accuracy tip, don’t anticipate the trigger pull. Just slowly squeeze until it goes bang
I have one of these in 30-06. The trigger on it is only like 3 pounds so barely squeezing fires it.

Nope. I adjusted mine all the way down and according to my scale it was over 5 lbs. I got the kit from MCARBO and had a 3.5 lb pull.
love my compass but hate the trigger. To hard. Not really creep, just hard Any suggestions? Timney? Talk to me people!
Russell Haynes I’ve heard there’s a cheap lit that’ll cut it roughly in half
Are there any left handed owners out there? Are you hitting the target/bulls eye?
Have one in 300 wsm. Love it

James? Do you always close your eyes before you pull the trigger? Just asking.. Amazing work for shooting blind dude..
I sometimes flinch and yeah I caught it in the footage and yeah I left it in. I got no shame.
Isn't this trigger adjustable down to 3.5 lbs? That's heavy?
The 2 trigger lock nuts can be filed down to bring the trigger pull down to 1.5 +- using a flat file. Dramatically improving accuracy.
@@firetip198 you hot a video on that?
@@firetip198 video how ?
Why are you shooting right eyed if you are left eye dominant?
I shoot left eyed on RH rifles all the time with no issue.
I am left handed and left eye dominant, but after some work, it seems I group about as well right handed and right eyed. Besides, nobody wants to see a lefty work a right handed gun.
