Pretty good list. I've had a little of everything. Started with some amplifiers terrible products 6 years ago. Went to a ENT phonak provider. (10,000) Didn't even consider them. Bought some Starkey 110 z series off of eBay about 5 years ago. Done pretty well. Paid about $1000 for everything including a audiologist to program. Two years a got Oticon opn s1 from the VA. Still lots to learn about hearing aids. Just like any job there are good an not so good audiologist. It can get disheartening looking for on let alone the expense. Really enjoy your channel. Good information for people trying to educate their selves.

Its important to base it off real world experience with having hearing loss and wearing hearing aids,.. an audiologist cannot relate to patients unless they themselves wear devices, which most do not

It’s important to also do research and know what to look for when choosing hearing aids as well. They SHOULD be mindful of what you want, then take it from there and fit the devices as needed for you.. An audiologist cannot know what will sound best on your end because they have no real world experience with having hearing loss and wearing the devices,.. you are the one that needs to try them and wear them.. It requires YOU trying different devices to see what you like best and have most success with

@@burdettehansen5316 yes, but they have no ability to know how you’ll react to the devices until you try

What should you expect from an audiologist in terms of service after buying a hearing aid? For instance, lifetime management for the hearing aid? programming and cleaning and adjustments? Is that reasonable? How can you determine the skill level of the audiologist who's programming and making settings on the hearing aid? Does it have to be an audiologist? I asked my Audiologist at my ENT's office if she knows what best practices means? She said no. She's a Dr. of audiology and seemed knowledgeable. Is this a concern?

Hi Brad, yeah, I would say that's a concern. Re: all your other questions: Maybe not lifetime care, but a reasonable care period should be included (from a few appts, to a few months) and then at least a pay-as-you go option. What you get there kinda depends on what you pay. I would say "no", it doesn't need to be an audiologist. How to find a good provider?
