  • Emma Zurcher-Long's and Ariane Zurcher's Presentation at the ICare4Autism Conference - July 2nd, 2014 at Hotel Pennsylvania in New York City. The speed with which Emma seems to be typing is not accurate. We sped up the time, as this presentation in real time was almost an hour long. We also edited out a number of people's comments during the Q & A as their questions were less questions and more comments.

My youngest daughter worked over 13 years at a LI, NY school for Autistic children. She left to go to Stony Brook to get a degree to be a Occupational Therapist. She still works with children. Emma is amazing. Your guidance has helped her very much I am sure. All those who worked with Emma are wonderful to help her describe how she thinks and feels.

I found your blog by link surfing from a friend's blog post detailing the harmfulness of the Autism Speaks organization and how they do not actually speak for or from autistic people. I just wanted to say that I was moved by your eloquence, charm, humor and beauty, Emma. I also learned some valuable insights on how to communicate with a friend of mine who is on the autism spectrum. Thank you both for sharing this presentation via RUclips. I wish you both happiness and success in all your future endeavors.

Thank you Ariane for this incredible inspiration - BOTH of you have done an incredible service by sharing this and posting it so we can listen, reflect and start reframing how we think and behave. I loved all of this, but especially loved your recommendation and request. My 8 year old son has been doing RPM for 4 months now (With Elizabeth) and we really need to hear from parents like you so we can all support each other - and teach others. listening to this piece has helped me, help my son - all the more.
    Bless you.

I would like to put your video on my son and my page if you think that it would be ok. My son also has Autism but is a "Speaker." We are trying to make a school for those on the Autism Spectrum and other disabilities. I appreciated your video for making others more aware and the importance of computer education with Autism. You are correct in the direction of your path in education and are doing wonders with your progression. Contact my son and I if you are interested or we can help answer questions that you may have. www.seasons-of-success.org
