  • Tensions at Lincoln University continue to mount in the aftermath of the death of the vice president of student affairs, Dr. Antoinette Bonnie Candia-Bailey, who died by suicide on Monday. Students are continuing to protest and seek answers from the university administration.
The Board of Curators held a meeting Friday afternoon following their morning announcement that Lincoln University president, Dr. John Moseley, volunteered to be placed on paid administrative leave as a review of "personnel issues and concerns" is conducted.
Students lined the outside of the president's office at Lincoln University, hoping to get a chance to speak with the Board of Curators during their meeting and ask questions about the university's response to the passing of Candia-Bailey,

Protesting is temporary. We need to add anti bullying and mistreatment to existing laws. This is how we effect long term change and honor Dr. Candia-Bailey and others who have or are experiencing this workplace abuse.

@@inmythoughts718 Situations like this are not about "life is hard and work is hard." Hard work is a good stressor but when someone especially someone in power harasses you, belittles you, devalues your hard work, no recognition, double standards or selective enforcement of standards, rules, and policies - it becomes a thief to your soul. Work is the very fabric that makes up one of the many of our value and belief systems and when that value system becomes battled and bruised - the mind and body reacts to it. Imagine being criticized for every things that others would receive a free pass for. Imagine not receiving a thank you for your work. Yes - a pay check is great but not everyone holds a paycheck as high in value as a "good job pat on the back.". And it is not easy to leave the environment because people fear the same bullying will occur at the next place. Why not ask the person that is doing to the bullying to stop. They are the ones who are not playing fair by life.

PEOPLE! WHEN SOMEONE TELLS YOU THEY ARE HURTING AND STRUGGLING, BELIEVE THEM, DAMN IT! 😡
This is so sad and unfortunate. You NEVER know what is going on in a person’s life, UNLESS you see them “struggling,” and ask them if you can help.
THIS incident is one of the many things that can happen when people don’t have their feelings validated! It’s a form of “emotional” abuse.
If you are not being heard on your job or in other relationships, seek out outside or third party help, and share with a TRUSTED family member, friend and coworker. In a work environment, it’s OFTEN the case that HR is NOT your “friend,” and serves to operate in the best interest of the company. Get an outside agency to help you resolve the issues you are faced with.
Know the laws of your state when it comes to “work place harassment,” and laws surrounding health related issues as an employee. Lastly, seek legal guidance and support!
Stay safe folks! Be sure to check in on your friends and loved ones. 🙏🏼

Bullying and mistreatment is not against the law. We need to make it a law and reach out to our lawmakers while her death is still in the news. So many people across the country experience this abuse every day. Making this a part of existing harassment and discrimination laws is the avenue to go. Don’t we know influential leaders who can help us?

@@BeginnerDivaShe never said in her 10 page suicide letter which was odd and strange in it self exactly how he supposedly bullied her or mistreated her. She just seems to be showing just how mentally unstable she was to write a 10 page email with full of resentment towards the president because she was fired for her poor job performance and low scores from her evaluations. Sometimes when people become to comfortable in their job positions and environment then someone comes in and changes things they don't agree with or like they become a problem and unmanageable. Because they have been making their own rules instead of what the university code of standards required to follow. Sounds to me she resented this man who received the position of the university president when he was previously the head basketball coach and athletic director and white at this same university...This woman was already mentally unstable long before this man became president. She had several previous mental breakdowns in the past and apparently she wasn't seeking proper medical treatment for her already diagnosed mental issues. Apparently she wasn't sticking to the treatments like most people with mental health problems don't. They think they are cured and stop taking the medication and it makes their mental health worse than before. This lady found it more important to vent a 10 page letter to bless out her boss but only mentions regret to her family in a paragraph...So telling her boss off in 10 pages before killing herself was more important than telling her loved ones how much they meant to her and any special memories they shared together... She already had suicidal tendencies her being fired was the icing on the cake. The real question is where was her family during her mental health crisis and in need of support? Why is the blame laid on the university when it seems the people closest to you should be the ones holding your hand.

For what? She's the one who made the decision to end her own life as an adult woman, when there were several options for her. . .like getting another job, etc.
Furthermore, there's no specifics or supporting evidence to suggest that his behavior with her was outstanding in any way.
Just a lengthy email from her that comes off as completely unprofessional, which provides evidence that she was likely the source of most of her grief on the job, and probably why she got the low evaluation in the first place.

    My condolences to
Mrs. Bailey 's family. Dr. Moseley is guilty of not understanding how severe his employee mental issues extend. Her words speaks volumes about who she was. She said she did his dirty work . A person with her resume shouldn't be doing anybody's dirty work I don't care what her ethnicity is or was. This first man was doing to much . "She was not African" This was real lol y personal for hom and it was not about Mrs. Bailey's death. Second man should do his research and learn to stay on topic.
