Notice how neither Lars or James puts focus on Jason being hit by a bottle but instead gets irritated that the show was interrupted. Ten years and still getting shit on.
Did you miss the part where Lars showed up and asked who threw it and said the people around that person will deal with him for ruining it for everyone else? Lars is usually the comedian in the group and he was pretty serious at that point.
Those guys are different now, and they've given Jason some respect, but it's really sad that they acted like they didn't give a shit when the man got hit in the head with a bottle. There's a clip where James hs a shoe, not a bottle, thrown at him and he goes off. "You wanna throw sh*t, we'll leave and you can throw all you want". Here it was, "You guys don't like Jason?". They should've stood up for the guy. And I am a huge Metallica fan, before anybody comments. Jason deserved better, sorry...
I´m sorry but what are you talking about? They were clearly pissed, they went back to see how he was, James was clearly pissed at the guy, Lars was pised too and they asked for the crowd to take it.
Agree bro!! Metallica treated Jason like pure shit and Cliff was a goofball if you ask me. Sorry that he's dead, of course, but Jason completed that band and they disrespected him constantly. He should've just punched one of them in the mouth and they wouldn't have fucked with him anymore!! Rob Trujillo does not fit at all in my opinion!! Js!!
Yeah...This was the Gorge Amphitheater in George, WA. Days of the New and Jerry Cantrell opened. I was sure this show was over and I was devastated. They came back and slayed.
I always wondered if this particular show was recorded and put on youtube. I was actually at this show a long time ago too. The crowd started yelling kill that fuck! Im surprised I didn't hear the crowd yell it though while watching this. This was my first and only Metallica show.
How many times did Metallica play the gorge? Jason was hit with a bottle at the 98' show too. Correct me if i am wrong. www.rocktime.com/metallica98.htm This page explained with some detail of what happened.
the coolest part about this video is that they start playing 'the memory remains' at 2:19 but that song didn't come out til 1997, one year later. so since they threw a bottle at jason, they got a glimpse at a new song. HURRY everyone start throwing bottles at rob, maybe we'll bet some new material!
Axl would have cancelled the whole tour and after the show he probably would have driked too much alcohol while saying some racist shit, and after that you get anothrr shitty GnR live album.
Jason is going to end up needing a coloring book before it's all said and done. Guy gets bullied by the fans, Metallica, Willie Nelson, and the guys from Cheap Trick. Life's unfair .
What an awesome video. It kinda reminds me of the night Jason (with Echobrain) brought the show to a screeching halt to have a guy dragged out for being mean to my friend & I.
Jason was already out off stage. that guy on his knee is a rodie or somekind of that that was cleaning the floor for them to play. you can see that lars runs at the very begging to see what happend to jason.
They never wanted him to leave but James felt that Jason taking up work with Echobrain was treacherous. When they had the intervention Jason said he wanted to play both bands. James said it was one or the other and Jason left. As good as he was, they don't really need him back. If they played any of their old songs they would sound pretty much the same. As far as i'm concerned; James is the only one the band can't be without. I would say Kirk but guitarists can be replaced but singers can't.
Look people, Cliff was a bass GOD. But you know what? So is Jason. He just had the misfortune of joining Metallica JUST BEFORE they switched gears into alternative. Just like Rob Trujillo, one of the greatest bass players of all time, joined just in time for a severe transition in sound. Luckily for Rob, they survived the aftermath of "St. Anger", and went back to thrash, where they belong. Anyway, Jason can play any and all of Cliff's material, just fine. He did it for many years.
What do you mean they’re still friends to this day, Metallica are decent guys they just had the typical rockstar ego phase like every other multi platinum band

After this I wouldve designed the stage show so that theres a lighting truss across the front that comes down & stops about 10 feet above them towards the front of the stage , that way they are shielded from anything thrown from further out in the crowd.
Everybody know James gets very jealous if anybody other than him throws bottles at Jason.
