The division creates thermal insulation between the hot side and the cold side. This increases the efficiency of the engine and allows it to be air cooled. If that was not there, this engine would not run very long, or would require water or ice for cooling.

That is part of the formula. The engine runs on the difference in temperature between the hot and the cool sides. If the temperature differential increases, it runs faster. If you add ice to the cold side, it runs faster. If you add more heat to the hot side, it runs faster.

You can run engines like this with passive solar heating and cooling from buried earth air piping systems to power your home and in winter when the temperatures are reversed in some areas where the earth in winter is warmer than the sun and outside environment can provide it is a simple sensor controlled switch to reverse the system and still make electricity.
Just a temperature difference - one side warmer than the other. The cold air in this case is room-temperature. You could also drive it by having the "hot" side at room temperature and putting ice on the "cold" side"

RTV Silicone from the auto supply store. It handles the heat very well.

FOGAC Channel The drive piston is a balloon diaphragm. The displacer piston is made from an aluminum can.

FOGAC Channel It is cut down and glued to a smaller size. It shows in the video. It is detailed in the book.
