this is one of the most evil riffs ever written by a man, its up there with Iron man and Smells like teen spirit. fucking amazing in every sense of the word.
Hello is when you got a real bitch and now roll that shit up in your brunt and smoke it and you don't have to worry about your bitch that shit got for you it's that Sandford pack
I know and it's not cool because she's PERFECT for the music. If Neil Peart or Bonzo were drumming for the white stripes, it just would sound weird! All brilliant at what they do
The person running the titles on the screen can't figure out what song it is lol "It's Ball And Biscuit, wait, shit, it's 300 mph torrential outpost blues, wait, shit...."
Man she jams that little jazz kit, I love her style. You can hear her and right away you know who it is. Not crazy technical, just a bad ass style. In my opinion.
Stop it all of you. I love Meg. White stripes are not what they are without her but come on,... Jack is everything with this band. He tutored her and kept it so simple for her. Part of the plan though that he envisioned.
There's an interview where Jack says that all he needs is the basic four count. Anything after that is Megs flare. Which is fair, as that e/t else is Jack's flare, right. I love the stripes. They were a perfect t band for their time, and he has built a fantastic legacy outside of that.
yes, her drumming is exactly what made the White Stripes tick. Jack's PHENOMINAL guitar work was the star of the show, all you need is a simple drum line.
There is just something about this song that is just so raw, like that beginning riff is just so badass, along with the slow and harshness of the drums, I really do prefer this version over the album version. Guess it is true when people say that songs are almost always better live and this song is no expectation, almost like it was made to be played live
Agreed, just saw Jack at Red Rocks, he played about 6-7 White Stripes songs and they were amazing, but those songs were just missing something? That something is Meg, she is a little beast and very under appreciated. The boom she produces is spectacular in every way, IMO
That drumming! Who says meg is a horrible drummer? It compliments Jacks talent perfectly. Don't believe me, check out the same exact song of Jacks recent live performances with his crew of 7+ people. Just not the same now
also he messed up his ring finger (crashing a porsche with rene zelwegger,) and he makes chords with the use of his pinky, which really affects his playing its noticeable if you look for it and powerchords arent fully made.
When I saw them live, that was the biggest thing I noticed, the interplay and communication between them for each song. I got the feeling they never played a song the same way twice.
Greek theatre twice and the warfield in SF Saw the same interaction with the two of them. But it was obvious who was in control. But he always did it with true respect.
The intro to this song is how they would introduce Death Letter live - I think he wrote this song to capture that on a studio album. Both are just incredible.
Saw Jack White at a small venue on the great Salt Lake in 2018. When he busted out this guitar and slide-i was happy. Catch hell blues was one of 6 encores that night. Freaking rad.
Mine heard a song from blunderbuss on the Tv and went out and bought me the album for when I came and stayed the week, I have to say I nearly wept with happiness.

Meg made the band epic..put lars ulrich up there with jack and that awesome slide wpuld be drowned out by too much drumming. Without her the sound isn't there...she was content with her style and most artist always try to improve or change she is and was awesome. ..I hope the A holes who wouldn't lesve her alone have to listen to miley Cyrus in hell!
Lars is shit. Meg wasn't a good drummer, but she never claimed to be. She was honest and humble about it. I believe the phrase was "little girl drumming"? Nothing little about those girls though ;)
His name was Robert Paulson... His name was Robert Paulson... His name was Robert Paulson... His name was Robert Paulson... His name was Robert Paulson... His name was Robert Paulson... His name was Robert Paulson... His name was Robert Paulson...
...The drums ARE an instrument and I especially love when they're played that way (since so many nowadays do just play them like a f'n metronome) but sometimes situations - like this - call for a little something else. Meg was perfect with Jack.
@c907al I agree with @ThomasLaang. Jack is my favorite artist. He has so much talent and is so creative. He has access to lots of great artists that want to work with him. Has access to his own amazing studio, that he can do whatever he wants musically. He has made amazing music with the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather and his solo stuff. Even his cover of U2's "Love Is Blindness" for The Great Gatsby Soundtrack is one of my favorites. Tomorrow he could hire a female drummer and try to recreate the White Stripes. However, Meg's "childlike" style, lack of being able to do anything too complicated, and often losing the beat, makes the band what it was. If you were a fan @c907al, you would know Jack has said this very thing many times. That's why they had the candy symbol and the colors, and were "siblings". He wanted a childlike presentation. Therefore; Meg makes them the White Stripes.
+c907al Yes Jack White is The White Stripes but Meg is a unique drummer, she's do basic in terms of technique, sloppy but loud and fast, sounds amazing and fits Jack's playing like a glove, hence their absolutely original and phenomenal sound, I agree she isn't key, but I do think that she is just as important as Jack is because without her there is no White Stripes....
I think people are pretty split on there opinion of meg as a drummer some thinks she is amazing and unique others just thinks she is a bad drummer. The fact is I could take just about any avg drummer have them play with jack and it would open up so many options as to what he could explore musically, just look at his work with the raconteurs and dead weather. With an actual professional drummer jack has so many avenues to go and is not nearly as limited in what he can do. I do understand the childlike style and it playing a part in the white stripes unique sound, but any drummer could replicate that where as I dont think anybody could replicate jack white. so I stand by my statement, in the sound of the white stripes meg is completley replacible and in no way as valuble as jack.
i believe at the beginning he's only using the overdrive from his Fender Twin, then at 1:00 he kicks on his Maxon Micro-amp. during the solos he turns on his Big Muff too, i think. it sounds like it to me, i could be wrong.
its catch hell blues clearly! awesome lifeperformance really putted me in trance listen to it nice to see that they enjoy theire own music so much that they really fell in the flow of the rhythm
Did you ever notice that this song is supposed to progressed in speed as it goes? Also, that happens with a lot of bands, but this is how it's supposed to be speedwise.
this is one of the most evil riffs ever written by a man, its up there with Iron man and Smells like teen spirit. fucking amazing in every sense of the word.
15 years later I fucking couldn't agree more. Love you buddy
Hello is when you got a real bitch and now roll that shit up in your brunt and smoke it and you don't have to worry about your bitch that shit got for you it's that Sandford pack
Meg is fucking outstanding even though she catches hell still to this day
I'm digging how nice everyone is being to meg in this video, usually everyone's really mean to her
BUMPIN' because they now realize what we've lost. Some people don't see what's there until it's gone.
Just people who are bitter because they never got to where she did
Its cause she owns whatever stage shes put on
I know and it's not cool because she's PERFECT for the music. If Neil Peart or Bonzo were drumming for the white stripes, it just would sound weird! All brilliant at what they do
I still would pull her Hair.
She is Fantastic......but that is no Reason not to Tease her!
The person running the titles on the screen can't figure out what song it is lol
"It's Ball And Biscuit, wait, shit, it's 300 mph torrential outpost blues, wait, shit...."
Caleb Johnson it’s outpour not outpost, but yeah
i belive they dont coordinate the order of the songs or even what songs before do thats probably why
Yeah, everyone knows this is 300 Mile per hour Catch & Biscuit Blues
@@chuckdavis5647 yes that's my favorite.
Jack White + Slide Guitar = Thank you God
Take out the thank you
@@foemasherREAL
It could get loud😂😂😂😂🎉🎉😢
All ways ripping
Man she jams that little jazz kit, I love her style. You can hear her and right away you know who it is. Not crazy technical, just a bad ass style. In my opinion.
Meg's bass drum is strong!! She's not real technical but she's always on time. I dig her!
She is the most valuable drummer in the world actually because of what you just described.^^
She's not perfect but she's perfect for the white stripes
Stop it all of you. I love Meg. White stripes are not what they are without her but come on,... Jack is everything with this band. He tutored her and kept it so simple for her. Part of the plan though that he envisioned.
There's an interview where Jack says that all he needs is the basic four count. Anything after that is Megs flare. Which is fair, as that e/t else is Jack's flare, right.
I love the stripes. They were a perfect t band for their time, and he has built a fantastic legacy outside of that.
How on earth is he getting that sound out of his guitar at the start.
It's absolutely beautiful.
easily their most underrated song. jack on slide guitar is a different kind of beast
Jack's constant up-picking is so satisfying to watch for some reason. Does anyone else feel the same?
ages need them quick so i don't kill minors
yea i dont think he was ever told you can strum down XD
@@Nalinalinalilol the opposite of James Hetfield.
I'm sorry, but am I the only one to just see, how ridiculously excellent jack is at creating amazing songs!?!?
I love how they improv the living shit out of every song when they play live. It's like they're doing a cover of themselves.
yes, her drumming is exactly what made the White Stripes tick. Jack's PHENOMINAL guitar work was the star of the show, all you need is a simple drum line.
This song keeps drawing me back to it. It has a spell on me.
You know she's gotta miss this... even just a little. One day they'll be back. Give us just one more tour.
these guys are one of the few mainstream artists today who still know how to rock out!
Meg the multi tasking drummer of all time, she drums and she bounces
Personally I love Megs drumming! she plays drums like Jack plays guitar... like a beast!
Im thinking the same, Meg is like Jack...just with drums, put the worlds best drummer up there with Jack...and its had been no White Stripes.
These two make more racket per square inch than anyone, it's amazing. And the drums are just amazing.
it's unbelievable that only two people can do together
I listened to this song for an hour straight. It's addicting and absolutely brilliant. You go Jack!
this guy is one of the best guitar players ever!!!!!!
There is just something about this song that is just so raw, like that beginning riff is just so badass, along with the slow and harshness of the drums, I really do prefer this version over the album version. this is about as old time rock n roll as modern gets
This song is the best creation this year. Glad to know we still have artists out there.
This is the good sh!t! Thankyou!
meg is such a fun drummer to watch
Oh wow I didnt think it would still sound that good live
Mad respect for this duo making the rich sound.
That drumming! Who says meg is a horrible drummer? It compliments Jacks talent perfectly. Don't believe me, check out the same exact song of Jacks recent live performances with his crew of 7+ people. Just not the same now
ChubbySolution2 his new stuff isn't necessarily bad, just a different style
Rowan McHugh but essentially bad
ChubbySolution2 just because Megs playing compliments the song, does not mean that she is a good drummer.
She isn't.
also he messed up his ring finger (crashing a porsche with rene zelwegger,) and he makes chords with the use of his pinky, which really affects his playing its noticeable if you look for it and powerchords arent fully made.
Anyone see that between 3:00 and 3:15 jack gave meg two signs on when to play and when to not?
Badass af
When I saw them live, that was the biggest thing I noticed, the interplay and communication between them for each song. I got the feeling they never played a song the same way twice.
Saw them three times in the bay area.
Greek theatre twice and the warfield in SF Saw the same interaction with the two of them. But it was obvious who was in control. But he always did it with true respect.
that snare sounds explosive
Can't stop listening to this it's so awesome
The intro to this song is how they would introduce Death Letter live - I think he wrote this song to capture that on a studio album. Both are just incredible.
Guitar sounds just awesome in this song, cant get enough of it!
can't wait for next White Stripes album. They make me feel good.
This song is without a doubt some of his best slide playing.. some of his best guitar period. I honestly think this is the best song on Icky Thump.
Damn me for never seeing the White Stripes.
I literally get goosebumps watching the first 30 seconds of this video. I wish I had been there. Seriously epic.
Fucken love the shit out of this song! It's awesome live.
this song is just shredding the guitar into a pile of blisters, livid, deadly, venemous fuckin playing here
Saw Jack White at a small venue on the great Salt Lake in 2018. When he busted out this guitar and slide-i was happy. Catch hell blues was one of 6 encores that night. Freaking rad.
Wish these guys were still playing songs together. One of my fave songs.
I love the first 1.30 min of this video. White Stripes Rock!
Perfectly in tune together.
Mine heard a song from blunderbuss on the Tv and went out and bought me the album for when I came and stayed the week, I have to say I nearly wept with happiness.
Goose bumps alll over hearing this. 1 wish to hear this live front and center, then i could die happy
This is great stuff, Jack & Meg had a freakin' groove goin' on here.
Tasty guitar work…………..
this is gosh damn amazing
thank you jack for giving me my first eargasm
Ahhhh I just love this song!!
This is one of my favorite guitar centered songs, anybody got any recommendations on some other stuff like this?
screw google plus yeah type in blues and search there are all kinds. killing floor etc...
screw google plus Another one of Jack's songs off his new album is High Ball Stepper. And I just love it. It's instrumental, and great
screw google plus Gary Clark Jr. Good stuff.
In my time of dying - led Zeppelin
little bird, Suzy Lee, red rain all slide guitar by white stripes
the main slide riff is pure genius. it belongs in a different song. candy to the ears.
ngl this song deserves more credit i love this.❤

i love this live version more than the studio!
This is close to the best song they've done in my opinion
fantastic
my favorite version of this song, like it more than the album version
Talent sometimes lies in simplicity.
white stripes always blow me away
loves it
God I love this song. Favorite Jack White song ever. :D
Prob my fave White Stripes track
this song gives me goosebumps...
You're my bro yes you're !
Meg is whitestripes Lo-Fi Soul, nobody can have it, except herself !

I love This Song!! White Stripes Live Are Amazing!!
its catch hell blues

ABSOLUTELY TRUE
Jack and Meg ❤🥰🥰
White stripes brilliant unsterilised Art. I wish it didn’t end.
Fact is that there is no other drummer that could have played in the White Stripes and had it still be the same band. That's enough.
Bruh this video is 13 years old and was released a year after this performance, RUclips IS GETTING OLD, AND SO ARE WE, shits insane
THEY ARE PERFECTION!
That has to be one of the meanest slide guitar riffs of all time

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! love it so much
