  • I hike into a new spot I've never fished before. I can't catch as much variety of fish as I wanted too but there's heaps of western blue groper and I manage a new PB at 108cm
The big one was caught using rock crabs for bait
This is the gear I was using:
    - CTS GT Fight rod pe6-8 9ft by JC customs
    -Shimano Stella 20000
    -80LB Tasline, 170 or 200LB Varivas leader
    WARNING Rock fishing is dangerous.
Don't try to replicate this kind of roped in fishing

It was in the News. And beach goers were warning him he couldn't fish that species out. He got arrested by police few moments later.

It’s called a cliff gaff. The hooks swing freely so they push out when it hits the fish and swing back in when you pull the rope

I bought it from a local tackle shop but if you search online for cliff gaffs you might find a seller that will post. Im not sure if youll find one at a shop in California? But you could always ask
