      When you're an introverted, analytical person, it can be very endearing when someone is as enthusiastic about your thoughts as an ENFP tends to be. You have spent an inordinate amount of time developing them, after all. There is also something about the ENFP mindset that pulls me out of my head and lets me enjoy the moment. It redirects my analytical side to see the amusing and even goofy in life. Spending time with an ENFP often means getting relief from an effort you didn't even realize you made.
      Also, there is something about the animation in an ENFPs face that is unrivaled. Your eyes sparkle. I'm not sure whether that is objectively true, or if it is simply due to good chemistry between myself and you.
      In my experience, you also have a much more subdued extroversion than most E's. You don't mind spending time alone, which is a big plus because I am the same.

    It's funny, we don't care what people think of us as people, per se, but we DEEPLY care about what others think of our quality of work, whatever it is we do. For example, I am an audio engineer, and I don't care if people think I'm an asshole, but if they think something I engineered sounds bad, then my value as a human being drops like a stone, especially if they believe it was my incompetence that created such a disappointing sonic experience, despite the fact that I did the absolute best I could with what i was given to work with.

      What happens when you are no longer able to be an audio engineer and your hearing abilities diminish with age? What happens when you inevitably produce a "bad" sample over time? being good to other humans will be the only thing you are left with at the end of your life, so dont take human connection for granted - Message to all INTJ's.

      @Nobody Special you just nail it! I’d have never been able to put it down so succintly. I find that so many problems come from this, because most people are relatively cool with criticizing work but not cool with giving personal criticism, and for us is the other way round: you can give the harshest personal criticism ever and we will be unphased but if criticism about our work is not done delicately then we enter defensive mode because we feel really attacked

    ENFPs are good at reading INTJs and see that they have a lot of emotions underneath even though they do not express them. Since ENFPs are good at reading them the INTJ does not have to express them to feel understood. So they feel safe with ENFPs. And for ENFPs that INTJs do not play any games with feelings and are always true and honest in the little emotional expression they have is something ENFPs respect a lot and are drawn to.
    ENFPs will also be drawn to INTJs ability to not get caught up in emotions so much that it messes with their organisation and forward thinking (Ni vision) as a whole. They will be very fascinated by this and secretly want to be like the INTJ in this area...
    From an ENFP with an INTJ partner :)

    1: Robots
    2: Don't understand/express emotions
    3: Straight forward / blunt
    4: Like/Need to Plan
    5: Don't care/ insensitive

    • @KatanaKamisama
      @KatanaKamisama 4 года назад +26

      1: Sometimes we prefer to be seen as a robot because it means other people recognize they have to be specific and intentional about their expressing their needs. But, just because we're stone faced doesn't mean we don't feel it just means we don't emote or express it.
      2: See 1, but also we are very capable of expressing our emotions and we do it very well. When we want to. But we default to not doing so, because it requires excessive energy expenditure, and is both very draining and vulnerable. It's like a robot opening up their chest cavity, and telling you how all the wires work, and exactly where to cut to cause the most damage. Not something we're gonna do very regularly.
      3: Yup.
      4: True. "Amat Victoria Curam" Victory loves preparation.... INTJ's LIVE intentionally and part of that is planning.
      5: It's not that we don't care. It's just that we prioritize logic over emotion. And a logical course of action often seems very rude/insensitive to a feeler type. To those people I say, "Emotion informs my action it doesn't control it." A lot of types can't keep up with the Ni-Te of an INTJ, so they can't see that what the INTJ is doing IS the best course of action until way later. However by that point their emotions have been trampled, and they have so much resentment that they never re-assess the situation to understand the INTJ. They just label them as insensitive, and dismiss them.
      I think ENFP's are one of the best equipped to understand an INTJ, because they have they also lead with an intuitive function Ne, and their Fi is higher in their stack than the INTJ, so they can understand their motivations. They can actually follow the mental leaps that Ni does, so their Fi doesn't feel trampled.

    My favorite person to be around is my dad. He is an INTJ and I am an ENFP. Sometimes, as a child, on the weekend he would take me to the office and the whole ride there(45min) we would sit in silence. It was a pleasant silence. I knew he was thinking about something and when I would look at him he would glance back at me and smile. It is hard to explain. I felt like we had more connection with one glance than I had with talking to my mom(ESFJ) for an hour. I love both of my parents, they are very special to me.

And he is the only person who never complaints about my resting bitch face or not expressing emotions. INTJ here. Thank you for your honest (and heartwarming) analysis.
    I’ve always come into conversations where I can see the struggle in understanding from the other person when I (unintentionally) said something hurtful, off-handed, or may be too abstract. Not for you ENFPs though, you guys just instinctively go with that one idea and keep the flow, never miss a beat. How you do it, I have no idea, but I appreciate it immensely.
    As for my honest thought on ENFPs, you guys are incredible bundles of joy. Always full of interesting ideas and unexpected, value insights that inspire my plans. You also don’t seem to be occupied with judgement or pre-conceived expectations of when and how I (INTJ) should be in public or intimately, which is also something I’m pleasantly surprised with and thankful for. You give great advices and is a good reassuring presence for me, too, especially in emotionally charged situations. I always freeze, and you can always seem to make peace rather easily, which is amazing.
    For the ENFPs out there who are still insecure or worry about your “weirdness”, you’re fine, I like you that way 🌝

    Just watched 1st video! Nicely done, Mindi! I’m an ENFP married to an INTJ. You are CORRECT in your assessment....here’s one example:
    The last trip we took (drove instead of flying) my husband planned out WHEN and WHERE we stopped along the way. He totally researched the top rated restaurants and “attractions” along the route to our destination and turned every moment into the best road trip EVER! As an ENFP I could just show up to airport and roll the dice to determine where to go and simply buy clothes when I get....wherever I’m going! Being on a trip where EVERYTHING was planned out took the stress off of me to create “experiences” for everyone and was so relaxing! Oh....and I loved “peeking” inside my husbands head, a little, by the places he chose to stop.
    Looking forward to more vids! Cheers!

    ENFPs admire INTJs intelligence (4D Ti) because they feel insecure about their only logic and always question themselves. It is almost like an admiration towards someone (the INTJ) for being so good at something you are so lacking in. Now, imagine that person you admire liking you back equally.
    That person (the INTJ) will like you (ENFP) back because they admire your Fe (4D) ability to socialize so well. Something they lack and question themselves about a lot.
    There is such a mutual benefit between these two due to helping each other where they lack the most in life (Fe for INTJ, and Ti for the ENFP).
    The ENFP also cancels the INTJs’ high 4D Ti enough with their own 3D Fi. The ENFP is contagious via their Fi enough that it activates (probably via mirror neurons) the INTJs own 2D Fi. Launching them from being logical via Ti to noticing their own feelings more cause of the ENFPs.
    Vice versa happens to the ENFPs, where the INTJ natural thinking style of Te/Ti will launch the ENFPs’ Te into mental stimulation of thoughts. Stimulating them away from feeling for a bit and releasing a dose of serotonin, dopamine and other happy neurochemicals due to the neurons firing via F4 (Te) and perhaps even F3 (Ti) region of the frontal lobe brain. This launching of the ENFPs’ Ti deactivates their Fi (emotions) for awhile which, I can only speculate, would be extremely relaxing and calming (because its canceling out the usual emotional swings of maybe higher beta brain wave to a lower beta brain wave; maybe Alpha level, too?).
    So the ENFPs increases the INTJs brainwave (make them feel more alive and energetic); while the INTJs lowers the ENFPs brainwaves (make them feel more relax, grounded and calm).
    Ti vs Fi cancelation theory

    I'm an INTJ. This is a nice piece! If I had to sum it up, I think I would say that both INTJ and ENFP types appreciate authenticity at a very high level. We just don't want to waste our time with games and other people's self-deluded issues. If another person shows me their true colors, I will respect a lot of different aspects about that person because I can foresee how they will act under particular circumstances, and they tend to have a high sense of honor.

    I am a INTJ and I only recently took a look into Meyer-Briggs. I took the test in university with some other psych students but I heard it was hocus and bunch of BS. I thought the titles of the groups sounded silly and kind of like what you would find in old cosmo magazines. Decades later, as I found myself having difficulty verbally expressing some ideas and the interconnectedness of it all, I remembered the personality test. I decided to look mine up again as I did the tests in 2001 and I think again in 2002 because I had a friend who wanted INTJ. She looked at it as if I kept writing the test, some how I would fail. In 2001 this content was not on RUclips like it is today. The tests we took were photocopies of old Meyers Briggs tests our professor gave us. When I looked mine up again it was like a brick to the face. So many things makes sense now and especially why I have been having such a unreal time finding like minded people. - long backstory done - I have had one really impactful relationship, the kind that makes you wonder "is she the one?" even when you know 100% she isn't, that kind of impact. Looking back I can completely see a ENFP in her. It was all the traits I really liked. I just liked having her around, that made me happy. We are both grown ups now, we were in our 20's then and we are not well suited anymore. I can now see why I had such a had time shaking her and this totally narrows down who I should be looking for and why. Come on, lets be honest INTJ's, people think we are bit of pricks and that's from someone people generally like (me liking them is the challenge). So, if we can meet someone who would actually like the traits that other hate would be fan-f@*king-tastic because I don't think many of us INTJ's are planning on changing ourselves. lol

    Rather than INTJ's being planners I would argue we are optimizers/strategists. They sound similar but look very different in practice. We are actually relatively spontaneous when on vacations or enjoying leisurely activities. What we meticulously control is various meta games that can extend well into the future such as our pattern of thought, ideologies, skills, our health, our environment, etc. We are certainly planners in comparison to many other personality types, but again I would argue we are equally spontaneous. It is anything that touches our ego that we obsessively control.

      Control is something that doesn't really encapsulate what is true about systems: you control the inputs, not the outputs. As an INTJ woman, I can attest to the dislike from others. But I think some of it for me is because I'm a woman and the typical stereotype for women is not... What INTJs are. This is just personal experience talking, not a feminist rant.
    I've been married for 14 years and it's taken me a long to to figure out what many of the problems we've had are. Reality is I married the wrong type for me. I have 3 children with this person and it's been a battle every step of the way to be myself and have the autonomy I need. INTJs have very different needs than most women would, I think. And most men are not ready for it, whether they know that about themselves or not. In my opinion, INTJs should not marry (unless they are very sure their partner can give them the space and freedom needed, and that the other person is very secure and comfortable seeing themselves as an equal to them).
    To end this, if I'd known myself better in my 20s I would have quickly rejected my now husband and avoided the pain. I didn't love him, he intrigued me, but being the dumbass I am I thought that was what love is. Choices, folks.

    INTJ here. About the 5th point: "INTJs don't care about what others think." At least for me, this much is true. 'You know why? Because the overall picture of the situation (Ni) and the facts (Te) matter more and better; moreover, the best ideas/solutions always prevail, whoever had them. My mother used, even today, to say me: "Don't think or want a certain thing because 99% of the people think or want it."
    However, during interactions between me and others, it often happens that the following thinking forms in my mind: "Which inner motivation/feeling pushes this/these person/people to say/do this thing?". Then, this is an information added to the overall picture. In fact, more and more often the closest people to me affirm: "You are very emphatic." Maybe, some experiences made me develop more Fi.

    • @Mindimalist
      @Mindimalist  4 года назад

      Amazing!! Thanks for sharing. And this is not the first time I read such comment about Fi. It's fascinating to see in which way you guys experience it or navigate situations with it. Do you think it has to do with some inner work you've done to improve yourself and understand people?
      Btw, that introverted feeling Fi is your third function and the second for ENFPs, and I talk about it in another video.
      ruclips.net/video/9khBc7fyayY/видео.html
      Check the minute 4:17 (of that video, probably youtube will link the wrong one, so do it manually) Is it similar to how you experience it?

    • @alessandrocellurale8340
      @alessandrocellurale8340 4 года назад +1

      @@Mindimalist Your statement in that video is right, at least for me. However, even when Fi makes me imagine or even feel, how the others are/feel/think inside, my attitude is not to shield them from situations or facts. Simply, what is inside them (bad feelings, convictions, motivations etc) can make their way or the way of the overall picture or both (strategic INTJ vision).
      No effort was brought to develop more Fi. The MBTI theory affirms all four functions are equally present in the psyche; the difference is only related to how much each of this function is used. Before some experiences, my habit was not to give such importance to people, because 95% of them were only waste of time to me. After that, my Fi made its appearance, that's all.

    • @Mindimalist
      @Mindimalist  4 года назад

      Alessandro Cellurale I believe that even though it’s a natural process for the functions to be used more often aka to develop, you can support them by consciously being aware of their inefficiency for instance, even if you don’t really push yourself. That’s how I’ve been working on Si and even Te deficiencies with some quite good results

    • @alessandrocellurale8340
      @alessandrocellurale8340 4 года назад

      @@Mindimalist Do you really believe in this? The MBTI theory is only related to a test, it wasn't invented to correct the "inefficiency" of some Jungian functions. It is only a model, a mental scheme, even very powerful, with the purpose to identify a pattern, through which people perceive and act in the outside world. Then, what does it mean and which is the point in developing some least used functions?
      Moreover, MBTI apart and most important, do you think we are in this world to make better of ourselves? Why must we chase an our better image, that lies only in our mind, and not follow only our nature to reach our place in this world itself?

    As someone who has been typing as INTP for years but recently realised I'm actually an INTJ, this all makes so much sense. I have something to add about "brutal honestly" and "bluntness"; I wonder why people always assume that full honesty and bluntness always means saying negative stuff - surely honesty goes both ways, and it encompasses both positive and potentially negative stuff, or? I find myself being often blunt when I'm giving compliments; my current SO (an ENFP!) is often mesmerised by this because they're not used to someone telling them point blank all that they like about them. I will tell him all the features I like, all their little quirks and traits I value, how they make me feel, etc. etc. If I like/love someone, there's no stopping me in showing affection in a raw, honest way, so this someone can rest assure I don't just want to "flatter" them, but that I actually feel all the things I'm saying.
    At the beginning, when we were getting to know each other, I visited his office and said "I wouldn't be able to work in such a messy place", something he still uses to mess with me to this day (in a lovingly joking way). The funny thing that most people don't get is that I'm not adding value to these statements... I'm not equating "messy" with "bad", but all I'm trying to convey is that I personally need a different type of environment to be able to focus at work. I don't know if other INTJs can relate, but I almost never add value judgements to these statements; I really think in terms of grey and I follow a "to each their own" philosophy, very few things are "inherently" bad or good in my book (except when it comes to issues of cruelty, which I can't tolerate).

    My experience as INTJ is that people make all kinds of judgements about me. I know that their judgements are negative - and I also know that their judgements are completely wrong about me. I think the difference is from perhaps other types - I won't bother to set them straight. The reason is - there are so many people like that - I would have to be constantly explaining myself to people all the time - no that's not what's going on - that's not who I am - but that gets tiring when you are facing it every day. Most of them just can't understand, however much I try to explain myself to them. So what happens is, you just don't bother to set them straight anymore and when someone is giving me a dirty look, I am thinking 'Yeah I understand exactly what you are thinking about me and I dislike you because you are not making the effort to properly understand what I am about - so you can just keep on thinking I'm a horrible person - that's your problem'.

    INTJs feel deeply. Like Vulcans, perhaps more deeply than humans. but the relevance of an emotion is often tied closely to it's utility. not sure i helped the INTJ case with this admission. but it's authentic. take if for what you will

    Why can an INTJ "ground" people? Here's my guess:
    Fi, Introverted Feeling.
    I'm a particularly volatile INTJ (high Neuroticism on the Big 5 measure), and that's usually all pointed inwards.
    But one thing that I do, is that I never block out my feelings. (At this point, I'm not even sure I know how if I needed to.) I may ignore them, but ultimately, I feel everything on overdrive, but usually don't extrovert it at all.
    This means, whatever the ENFP (or any other type who is willing to be open and honest so I can Ni their current state) is on what you referred to as an "emotional roller-coaster," for me it's a, "Been there, done that," and usually, "I had it far worse and here's what I did and a few more possible solutions I'm pretty sure will help you specifically based on my Ni + Te + Se."
    Gotta use all your functions, people. That Fi is a powerhouse for human interaction.

    • @Mindimalist
      @Mindimalist  4 года назад +2

      So you mean, that the reason why you can understand us it's because you feel empathy (I know big word for an INTJ), because of having gone through that yourself, even if you didn't extravert the emotions?

    • @tehufn
      @tehufn 4 года назад +3

      @@Mindimalist I can relate. Fi in the third slot means it's more sensitive and painful. Usually, I have felt many pains more sharply in an Introverted space.
      I don't know if that's empathy or applied experience. I feel like empathy is feeling what another feels in the moment. I don't do that often. It's mostly memory saved in the introverted feeling.
      And that's why it's grounding. I am not feeling at the time I give advice. Any time I'm helping people, it comes out as cold hard logic (Te) and facts (Se), informed by how I felt and overcame in the past (Fi memory bank).

      @@tehufn Okay, I get it. Still, I wonder if it's kind of similar to the ENFP experience somehow. We have Fi as auxiliary.

    I feel like INTJs they see emotions/feelings from others as more data points. It’s like I see it as you running a automated diagnosis of what’s wrong with the whole of you. You’re feeding me more information about what’s going on with you so I can properly wrap my mind around what’s at the center of all that logically and map it out in my own head so I can do what I can to alleviate that if possible. Even if someone is going on a huge emotional rant, I think there’s always something at the core of those emotions that can be realized and “fixed”.

    Intjs dance with their idleness.
    Their polr Fe means They have trouble matching the social landscape, where it concerns emotional evaluations, but this just makes Them all the more independent.
    Intjs are like the *fine* *wine* mbti type. The robot comes with countless program installations.
    Unfortunately, the intj does not have blinking red lights like other robots, but maybe that makes Them part human?
    I wonder. Perhaps the intjs are cyborgs, not robots after all.
    In the "Wizard of Oz" the intj is the Tin Man. Perhaps They need an ENFP to provide Them with a heart?
    Or... Wait for it.
    Perhaps the ENFP is like a million little munchkins singing directions for the yellow brick road?
    Good video on intjs.
