  • Checking out the Zephyr Drone Simulator by Little Arms Studios.
    I edited this in a semi-chronological way, so even though I picked the Inspire I don't fly in the first tutorial. Whoops!

    I wanted to add an update into my controller inquiry. The folks at Little Arms Studios (specifically Kyle) have been absolutely great in supporting their product and getting me squared aware with what I need. Thank you Ed for introducing this product to your viewers and thank you Kyle for the timely and personal service.

    Sweet review. Cool software. Truly would be good for trainers. Nice.

    This is good stuff! As of living in a country with weather that would break anyone mentally for 6 month LOL, I have been searching for some better simulator than DJIs. You kinda need to keep up training your "flight-thumbs" when not flying for long periods of time. Awesome tip this one, thank you! (thumbs up)

    I highly recommend the Quadcopter FX Simulator in the Android Play Store. It's free or $5 if you want to try the challenges. The scenes aren't the best and you don't use sticks, but for newbies I think it does a pretty good job of simulating the responsiveness of a drone. It also gives you a variety of views/perspectives. Check it out!

    No way I would use that without being able to use my actual drone controller. They need to fix that oversight. Part of mastering flight is understanding where all the buttons and dials are so practicing with a totally unfamiliar controller wouldn't translate very well in real life. Plus, who wants to go out and purchase a $150 controller just to fly a sim?
    Nice video Ed as always. It helped understand what not to buy.

      Hi Scott. We're happy to hear your feedback! We wanted to note that the transmitter shown in the video is an actual drone transmitter. Most transmitters that have a trainer port are compatible with the Zephyr USB adapter as well. Some of them are as cheap as $30-40 per transmitter and we will have a bundle available on our site soon that includes the software license, adapter, and transmitter for $139.99.

      Hi, thanks. I'm talking about the DJI controller for example. Being able to actually control the gimbal and learn how to not just fly the drone but to also control the camera is critical in training. We have 9 drones and 6 pilots with more coming all the time. I wouldn't be able to use your product for our business because it doesn't work with the controller they are familiar with and doesn't control the gimbal pan.
      All of our controllers have USB out and even basic simulators so I'm thinking there must be a way to do it.
      The concept you have come up with is great, it just wouldn't work for us because using an RC controller doesn't teach them how to use the one they have.

      Ah I see! We would love to implement the DJI controllers, but unfortunately they have been somewhat restrictive on what you can and can't do with their hardware. Reading input from them on a computer isn't something DJI seems to have intended for. We have also implemented the FlySky FS-i6S, which has a self centering left stick and knobs on the top right and left that can be used for the gimbal control.
      It requires an extra configuration step on the controller hardware, but it is much easier than the FS-T6. This one will be a little slower to hit the market as a bundle on our website, but it is fully compatible (and doesn't need the adapter) in the current live version.

      I think until you guys can figure out a hack to capture the signals from a native DJI controller, you will be limited in scope.

    Ed, what software are you using for screen capture? Is it Camtasia? Heidi

    • @EdRickerVlogs
      @EdRickerVlogs  7 лет назад

      Hey Heidi,
      My computer graphics card comes with the nVidia GeForce Experience program which includes a screen-recording function. It's designed for recording gameplay like this video, but it can also record the desktop and other programs.
      I've also used iSpring in the past, though it's lower framerate. It's free though!

      Ed Ricker Vlogs you are awesome! I just got a machine last week that is for gaming (editing for me) and it has the same video card. I will check that out! Thank you so much for answering and so quickly. That is super cool to know and that it is free is even better. Thanks. Heidi.

    • @EdRickerVlogs
      @EdRickerVlogs  7 лет назад

      Congrats on the machine! What are the specs/graphics card?

    • @HeidiandFranny
      @HeidiandFranny 7 лет назад

      Ed Ricker Vlogs it's a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (3840 x 2160) and also HD Graphics 630 with 64 GB RAM, 64 bit OS, and i7 -7709K with 4.2 GHz processor (8 of them). I even got the newest ultra hd monitors and didn't recognize the cable but they worked! It boots ridiculously fast and Adobe Premiere Pro works the way it is probably supposed to work. There are no excuses for me not getting out videos in a timely fashion now. I am curious about the screen capture. I need to do that in some videos soon. I have some issues with my mouse and Franny told me you use a pen. I would like to check that out too. I need to catch up on some of your older videos. Heidi

      That's quite a computer, nice! I've got the GTX 1080 as well...right now I'm using the i7-4790k but I just ordered the i7-7700k. Reason being, I needed to upgrade my external storage to a thunderbolt drive, but in order to get a Thunderbolt expansion card I had to upgrade my motherboard. And the new motherboard has a new socket type (LGA 1151 instead of 1150) hence the new CPU. Of course the new motherboard also requires different RAM (Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB). At least my CPU cooler still works!!!
      Hopefully I've future-proofed myself a bit now, but it's funny how it takes so many other upgrades just to add one component (in my case, the LaCie 5Big 20Tb Thunderbolt 2 RAID). Can't wait though!
      Good luck with yours, I'm sure Premiere works like a dream!

      I am really surprised by your login/sign up issues! After getting my Part 107, I used the Zephyr version (purchased in 2018 or early 2019, recently updated) and there are no issues. I actually purchased a controller and a license for my wife, as a surprise for Christmas 2020 (she used to work a short time in an Air Traffic Control tower an airport a looong time ago.
      No problem downloading, installing, login etc.
      Totally worth it, and personally, the totally updated version compared to that 2017 release that Ed was reviewing in this video... it really helped with my skill level, as I need it for a company I am contracting with.
      Try it again, or contact them via their "message" function on their website!
