Best way I can describe in text; The MSD box uses the factory Cam and Crank sensors and you set a range of Timing for example on the software you set 200 rpm to 800 rpm it will lock the timing say 15 degrees for idle, then you can either progressively build up timing or have it lock out staring at say at 3k rpm all the way up its locked at 32 degrees
