Pre-Covid, I used to help out with a sing-song at our local nursing home and this song was/is in the songbook - but we never sang it. So, one day, I sang it A Capella and, when there line came up about 'from the Frigidaire' , I motioned towards the refrigerator in a corner and most of the people were really tickled by that. Also, I remember seeing it sung by Bob Hope and .......... in the movie, Thanks for the Memory. Thank you for the memory, Allison!
I spend every Allison video trying to decide if I'm more charmed by her voice, her hair, her fashion, her face, her musical sensibility, or her vintage mics.
I love nearly all the wonderful Great America Songbook singers. Frank and Ella were always my two favorites. Since I discovered Allison, now I have three favorites. She ranks with the best of the best.
To me, this song belongs to Fats Waller. And the writer, Hoagy. But today I found another owner of this lovely lovely song. There could be no wrong person loving this song. Thank you.
This is funny (and quite beautiful, as usual), because this is what my dad used to say, that he and mom were getting totally worn out with all the courting, so they had to get married, just to get some rest lol. Thank you for conjuring a very pleasant memory for me, Allison. :)
Everyone is telling you that you are an astounding singer - and you are indeed. But as a guitarist I must tell you that your guitar accompaniment is wonderful. It’s very effective and characteristic, stylish and lovely. Simple and tricky at the same time, a well hidden strength: such a humble accompaniment which doesn’t steal the scene from the solo line is the best what can you do for any song.
Brad, thanks. very nicely done by this young woman. If you like this song, Blossom Dearie and Bob Dorough do a very nice version (they include the verse) you may want to check out sometime. Regards.
I don't watch many films from before 1960 but maybe I should as this is a lovely song! Allison has that 30's and 40's vibe with the way she looks, Dresses and decorates her home. She pulls it off very well!
I do not remember which one, but this song was featured in a cartoon back in the fifties. It was quite popular to put well-known songs of the times into cartoons back then. Thank you Allison you brought back memories for me .
@@brianappleby5112 So true, one song of his that I love is Heart and Soul, specifically the version by Helen Ward and Larry Clinton's Orchestra. Check it out. Happy New Year, by the way.
Allison.....you are a breath of innocent fresh air, and I also adore your kindly sounding, well controlled voice! I have always loved this wonderful song and you did it proud. If this was back in WW2, you would have almost certainly been caring for our troops....everyone of them ending up loving you....and they couldn't possibly help themselves.
Great song and cover. If my cats hadn't declared territories I would be running out of isolation to go buy a couple of those tents. That was a lovely moment.
Beautifully done! Many years back, I performed this song on a home recording for my grandparents, who loved this song. Thank you for bringing back a memory of two, wonderful, sleepy people. :)
Keep them coming Allison , i am in heaven listening to you , you are defiantly in the wrong time but please don't change not one little bit. Xxx. ❤❤❤🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Please don't ever let the music industry destroy your YAH given, natural soul, your unique style and character..... I truly hope you will be sheltered from all harm and malice that this upside down world has on tap at the moment. HalleluYAH and thank you for your blissful music ....
You know, I close my eyes and listen to you sing and it brings me back to a time I was a little boy, lying in bed drifting off to sleep, and listening to tunes my dad used to play. You remind me of someone..............I just can’t place it right now. Thanks for what you do and who you are!
Not a popular song? Not my genre of choice, but what's not to like? Such a lovely song, arranged and rendered so beautifully! A perfect lullaby, or for lazing about on hot summer days, as well as the consummate love song. Have heard this song before, but it must have been around five decades ago. Thanks for the fond memories, Allison!
While I could wish for the talent and motivation, and maybe the fashion sense, represented here, I find myself just so thankful that SOMEBODY has all that, and shares so freely! Thank you! (And the cat tent is SO adorable!)
I hope you’ll release an album of these amazing standards from “The Great American Songbook.” You do such a fantastic job with them! Thank you for sharing them!
Sorry that you released this very pretty song on such a sad day in US history. The day started good for me living in GA the runoff vote had gone best way for the country and then all hell brakes out in DC. 1-6-2021 5:20 pm EST. Thank You Very Much For Making such Beautiful music, You give me hope for your generation and the world. Love to You and Family !!!!!
Fats. I remember this song from growing up. My Dad had this Readers Digest Big Band collection ("Jukebox Saturday Night"). Like you, I have always been kind of behind my own time.
In a time when nothing can be trusted, people are cataloging their own alternative sources for everything. Allison tops the list for me in the music category for reality, purity and raw talent. I often put her on and just work away with her singing in the background. Hope you never bow the knee to mainstream Allison. My fav's are your original compositions.
I really liked your version of this song. It definitely took me back to a different time. The playing of the guitar was just right and your singing made it all come to life.
Sorry, but if you’re taking requests... “Somewhere over the rainbow” This was my mom’s song. We remember her whenever we hear it. And we think of the song when we remember mom. Allison, love your voice, style and this channel! Best of luck.
Man alive, Allison! I cannot get over how good your singing is. If you've never made original content, implore you to do so! But these covers leave me floored, they are sooooo good!
Nothing like starting the day with Allison! It's hard to put exactly into words how her singing makes me feel and puts me in calm, positive mood. If at least for a little while anyway.... then the work day snaps me back to reality.
I see that I'm not the only one who feels absolutely "melted" by this voice and sent off into a dreamy mist of fond memories. The world had my brain playing Rob Zombie at full blast but now I think I'll be ok...
WOW !!!! What a great song and performance. It's funny the other day I was reading an old interview with George Harrison and he said Hoagy Carmichael was one of his favorite composers now a few days later I understand. Thank you so much for posting this Allison I LOVE IT!!!!!
Happy New Year, Allison. Last year I told you that you were the sweetest person, but forgot to mention that you have the nicest voice and that your traditional style is a joy to hear. There are not many who can sing like you, without autotune. Could you also sing some old Billy Holiday?. Looking forward to the next song, sweet woman, with a voice of gold. Greetings from Denmark.
HalleluYAH! What a divine voice you truly have.... I've tried taking time away from listening to your music, and coming back every time knocks me off my feet again.... a soulful voice that is rapidly becoming on par with my all time favourite soul singers like Billie Holiday, Etta James, and Nina Simone and wouldn't be surprised if one day I prefer your voice. It has such a deep timeless essence to it, I can't explain what it does to my heart but it moves me deeply and I'm very grateful to be able to hear these songs. Thank you again Miss Young. Truly...
I would give my life just by listening to you sing "She" by Elvis Costello. Your voice is a heavenly gift capable of touching the toughest heart's inner fiber than someone can have in this world. Keep it up, never stop singing!
Here we are Out of cigarettes Holding hands and yawning Look how late it gets Two sleepy people by dawn's early light And too much in love to say goodnight Here we are In the cozy chair Picking on a wishbone From the frigidair Two sleepy people with nothing to say And too much in love to break away Do you remember The nights we used to linger in the hall? My dad didn't like you at all Do you remember The reason why we married in the fall? To rent this little nest And get a bit of rest Well, here we are Just about the same Foggy little fella Drowsy little dame Two sleepy people by dawn's early light And too much in love to say goodnight
Beautifully done Allison! You keep reviving these wonderful tunes so wonderfully that it’s almost as if you were born in the wrong decade. Masterfully done!!
You have it ALL! A most unique and outstanding voice, exceptional appearance and expression along with an abundance of confidence and stage presence! I wish you success in every facet of your life in 2021. I hope you continue to upload new videos. Sincerely and Thank you!
Don't get me wrong, you have a beautiful voice, and I really enjoy your music. Every time I hear you sing, I close my eyes and picture me back in the early 1900s, its like going back in time.
I waited to watch this because I was listening to your EP.... it is so gorgeous it is like the kiss of April!! You are a masterpiece and have just given me my dream aesthetic. Your songs float through my head all day every day. I love you so much, please keep making this gorgeous music that makes all of our days a little bit better...we love you, dearest Allison
Everything you do here is just so beautiful and gentle. You never fail to calm my frazzled nerves. You're exactly what we all need right now. Thank you.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes and yes.
At the point for all six!
She is a wonderful singer. Her voice is like honey and wine. So in tune.
A new Alison song, today is a fine day indeed
Turned out to be a crazy day nationally, but this helps make things seem more normal.
Thank you.
You take me to a time that I never knew. But I'm glad I know it because of you. Your voice is liquid velvet. Thank you, Allison. 🌹🌹🌹
Got an hour left on the clock at work, all stressed out and running around, but after watching this the world is all right again.
You can't go wrong with a Hoagy Carmichael song. Lovely.
Hoagy is one of my favs!
Me too!
Just when you think there is nothing good left in this world God sends this ! Pure innocence. I presume the 3 dislikes were accidents.
Well, this just made me melt away and now I have to spend the rest of the day as a fluid. Happy new year!!
Practically perfect in every way!
:)
One of my favorite songs! The background choir seems to come straight from heaven. Dankeschön! ❤
Fireplace, Brandy, in my recliner and listening to your stunning voice. Who could ask for anything more
Thank you for making my day!

I have to say I get my 40s fix listening to this music so tnx lady.
Oh my. What a pleasant surprise to start my work day. Such an old kind spirit in such a young girl. What cloud did you float down from? Fine job.
The only good thing that happened today was finding this song at the end of the day. Thanks.
That one person who disliked is just sleepy and couldn’t see properly
Or hear right!
Nah they are from Australia so it looks like a thumbs down to us
The land "down"under. Hmm...?
Or maybe they’re just angry petty people..
No that's a thumbs up from down Under in Australia.
Your voice is great generally, but especially in the low register like this. You are truly a special talent. You also do a great job a song selection!
Toad's tent is adorable!
Cuteness overload! XD

Haven't heard this song in 50yrs. Thank you pretty lady
I saw AC/DC once indoors, n once outdoors. I am old 54. BUT I Love your voice n you n the music you create.
I'm a bit older, almost 82. But I too love her and this song. God bless.
My god, this is glorious.
Brad, thanks. very nicely done by this young woman. If you like this song, Blossom Dearie and Bob Dorough do a very nice version (they include the verse) you may want to check out sometime. Regards.
She definitely has an old soul. 🔥
That Vocal mic is something Very Special, Wow!
Speechless
Mr Waller will be smiling in heaven. Lovely .
Thank YOU, Tom.
I don't watch many films from before 1960 but maybe I should as this is a lovely song! Allison has that 30's and 40's vibe with the way she looks, Dresses and decorates her home. She pulls it off very well!
I've always loved the sentimental sound of this song. Hoagy Carmichael was so marvelous. Beautiful rendition, thank you.
I love this song, too:) My mother used to sing it. Aren't you wonderful.
I do not remember which one, but this song was featured in a cartoon back in the fifties. It was quite popular to put well-known songs of the times into cartoons back then. Thank you Allison you brought back memories for me .
Bob Hope sang it in a 1938 movie called Thanks for the Memory. Holy Carmichael was a genius composer.

Hello. Do you ever sing out a song? Not this sweet mumbling. Please belt out a couple. TY.
Those dreamy back-up voices are perfect for this cover!

LOVE the harmonic progressions in this old Hoagy Carmichael gem. Good choice. Thank you! Toad's tent is precious too.
Great song and cover.
If my cats hadn't declared territories I would be running out of isolation to go buy a couple of those tents. That was a lovely moment.

This song is so awesome. I had to watch it twice.
