  • Hey everyone. Steve Milloy here. Since the mid-2000s, the natural gas industry has been advocating for the climate hoax in its bid to become the dominant fossil fuel supplier for electricity generation.
This advocacy started with the “Coal is Filthy” campaign that appeared in newspapers in 2007. It was secretly funded by fracker Chesapeake Energy, which also secretly gave $26 million to the Sierra Club and more to the American Lung Association to campaign against coal.
What Chesapeake Energy did was very embarrassing to the rest of the natural gas industry which went with crocodile tears to the public and coal industry to explain that it didn’t support Chesapeake’s scurrilous attack on coal. But while the industry may have been sorry that Chesapeake was caught red-handed, it still carries on the anti-coal campaign to this day when it calls itself “clean energy.” There is nothing dirty about coal burning in a modern power plant. The emissions are essentially just water vapor, and colorless and odorless carbon dioxide.
The natural gas industry’s “you won’t be able to eat me last” strategy has been that it’ll steal market share from coal and eventually become the lone and indispensable fossil fuel survivor. The industry no doubt thinks its campaign has grandly succeeded as even Kamala Harris seemingly embraced fracking as an essential part of the so-called “clean energy economy” during the debate with President Trump.
But the foolish natural gas industry is still on the menu. A new study from Cornell University has calculated that the emissions associated with exporting natural gas in the form of liquified natural gas (LNG) is worse for the climate than burning coal. Now this study is just junk science as there is no evidence that emissions have any adverse affect on the climate. But that reality is lost those who have fallen for, or advocate for the climate hoax. They will use this new study to stop LNG exports and LNG export terminals, which are key to future industry profitability.
As I explained in my recent MAGA energy plan video, linked to in this post, we should be burning coal for electricity and exporting our natural gas to Europe and Asia where they will pay six times more for it than US utilities. But the MAGA energy plan can’t happen if we can’t burn coal and can’t export natural gas because of climate hoax. Stay up with the latest on energy policy and the climate hoax.
