Rodney, I wish you had a how to for every game in our collection. Your instructional videos are second to none & my wife & I want to sincerely thank you!!!
It's much more likely that the designers of the game didn't want to go through the hassle of designing new assets for each card. It's quite often the case that when people design a product for a licensed IP, the designers need to submit each new asset or artwork to the license holder (Disney in this case) and get the approval of the licensing team there. Very often, the licensing team finds faults in the artwork regarding things that do not match the original design of the IP, and so they often tell the licensee to redo the art or asset. Overall, this can be a very tedious and time-consuming process. That's why unless the company making the game is the license holder of the IP and thus has control over the licensing and design team, game companies often use stock assets or screenshots taken directly from the movie or TV show.
@@AnoopVargheese That makes total sense, but I think in this game, where you mostly play the villains schemes, having recreated frames from the original movie works for the atmosphere.
@@El_Omar2203 I don't know. Normally for any kind of game or artwork, reusing existing assets is always a sign of laziness and not willing to invest, and always lowers the value of the product. I understand what you're saying, that it's nice to have something familiar. But I've bought the game myself, and the majority of the art on the cards feels dull and doesn't really highlight those characters or items properly, since those side characters often weren't the focus of the scene in the original films. Overall, as someone who bought the game, I would have preferred to see more original art that used those characters in new poses or situations or gave them more purpose.

Thanks for the explanation. I’ve been trying to play this with my little sister, it’s hard to understand at first but is lots of fun when you get the hang of it.
I love your videos Rodney. As your channel has exploded in the board game community I find it a staple in the hobby. In the past you only did videos on games you enjoyed or owned. You have stated this before. Now that you are wildly popular in the community and hobby I hope that you continue to differentiate between the games you are sponsored to demonstrate over the ones you have a personal affinity for. Thanks for everything that you do!
Hey Victor, I’m glad you mentioned this, so I could elaborate for you. All of our tutorial videos (for the past several years - maybe 5?) have been sponsored in part by the publisher. I always ask for a fee. It seemed right to me that they should share some of the burden of supporting the content, and not just the viewers. I’ve gotten in the habit of reminding our viewers that they are supported by the publisher in the intro, but this has always been the case. That said, the selection process has never changed. Since the beginning of the channel I’ve only picked games to feature that I’ve wanted to. I do not review in the content I create, but I personally choose the games I want to feature.
This is such a great channel. It reminds me of Unwrapped with Marc Summers in his delivery and inflection. I watch these before playing a game the first time, and also as a refresher if it has been a while since playing a game. This is the reason youtube exists, imo.
I second this. Seems like a perfect playthrough candidate. I really want to see how it plays as old school Robin Hood has my finger itching over the buy button
Nice! I think there's a lot of great wider options for expansions, both from other classic Disney movies or maybe the Pixar films. I would definitely want to see Scar as others have suggested, but also Judge Frollo (Hunchback), Shere Kahn (Jungle Book), Gaston (Beauty and the Beast), The Evil Queen (Snow White), Cruella (101 Dalmatians), Hades (Hercules), Ratigan (Great Mouse Detective) and Lady Tremaine (Cinderella). For a Pixar expansion I would love to see Hopper from Bugs Life, maybe either Emperor Zurg or Lotso from Toy Story, AUTO from Wall-E, Randall from Monsters Inc, Syndrome from Incredibles and Charles Muntz from UP. And then we can secretly dream about a Star Wars or Marvel expansion... ;)
@DarektheDalek they have a Marvel expansion, though I think it’s more of its own ‘verse as gameplay is a bit different than Disney’s Villainous. Star Wars, I can see some potential though it’ll also depend on what main villains should be utilized and how the heroes would be effective. Would it be like DV where each villain has their own deck, or MV shuffle all Fate cards together? Who knows
I can't believe how great this game looks! Will be perfect to play with the family. And it has some much room to expand. Hopefully we'll see King Candy, Scar, Randall, Yzma, Hades, Cruella, Gaston and so many more! Heck, maybe even Darth Vader, Loki etc...
It certainly seems like there's room for expansions. Not sure if they'll go as far as Darth and Loki, but now that I think about it... that could work!
Haha. Yeah, those two would be longshots for sure. But who knows, maybe they'll have a live action expansion :) They could include Clu 2 from Tron Legacy and Captain Barbosa as well!
Oh my god, how could I forget Yzma! Heck yeah to her being in a future expansion. And I would totally be on board with a Marvel edition with Loki, Ultron, Thanos and Hela...
Looking forward to playing this with my 13 year old we're pretty excited. We checked it out at a game shop but didn't have enough time to really get into it had no idea it would be so in depth. Amazon should have it to me by tomorrow and this video definitely was appreciated!
I'd love to see Dr. Facilier, Scar, Evil Queen/Grimhilde (from Snow White), Oogie Boogie, Gaston, Cruella de Vil, Hades, Pete, Chernabog! Just ordered this one off of Amazon and can't wait to play it!
I would love to game play of this if you have time! (I know you’re busy with tons of tutorials). It seems like a really fun game and I love Disney! Thanks for the video as always
Hm this looks surprisingly fun actually. Definitely wish it had Hades and Scar though. But I like that it has the Robin Hood movie, that’s a fun surprise. I’d say definitely add Hades and Scar in an expansion though.. Although defeating Mufasa as Scar would bring back a lot of childhood trauma. lol
I really appreciate this. I am normally wonderful with instructions, but I am tired and a little stressed. I thought my head was gonna explode when I started reading! Thank you so much for the video. 😭
Thanks as always, Rodney! You’re a staple of ‘new game night’ over here. Everyone knows that when someone brings a new game, we’re gonna order pizza and hang out with Rodney for the first hour. 😆
I noticed that they released 2 expansions including Ratigan, Yzma, Scar, Hades, Evil Queen, and Dr. Facilier. I hope they continue making expansions. I mean, with Disney's lineup of baddies, they could make several, and could even put Pixar in there if needed.. Personally, I wanna see the next expansion have Cruella de Vil, Lady Tremaine, and Gaston.
Hi there! I just played a game with friends and I would have some questions! - If a Hero dies during your turn, can you immediately use the actions that were blocked by this hero ? - When the lock token is removed by a card, will it stay removed until the end of the game? Or will it come back if the card that removed it is discarded? - a Jafar's card says that if a player has 2 objects at least, you can reveal his top Fate card and play it. Does it mean 2 objects on allies' side only? Or do you need to count the objects on heroes' side as well? - when you play a fate action, you choose the card to be used and discard the other one. But who will choose the target of this card? For exemple: I do this action on another player and he has to discard an ally, will I choose which ally to discard? Or will he choose by himself? - To win with Jafar, you need the lamp on the palace + the Genie hypnotized at the begining of your turn. Fate card Aladdin allows you to take an object from the location where he's placed and place this object under Aladdin and make Jafar unable to use it anymore! If it's my turn, do I win the game anyway as the object is still on the palace? Or do I need to kill Aladdin first to get back the lamp on the bottom side? Thank you if you can answer these questions :) Love this game!
1) Yes. 2) It stays removed unless something says otherwise. 3) Specific card effects I can't assist with (I cover too many games to be able to go into that level of detail - I do recommend checking the BoardGameGeek website for that though. The games forums there may have the answer, or you could post that question there). 4) You decide how to use the Fate card’s Ability against your opponent. 5) See 3 Hope that helps!
Good tutorial. I just bought this game and its expansions as Christmas gifts. Now I'll be able to explain how it's played to the family members it's for.
This looks pretty interesting! I was just at Disney World in Florida last week, and I was wondering if there would ever be a board game that used the characters from Disney movies in a game like this. Now I may have an answer! The artwork looks pretty good! Everything pretty recognizable from the movies?
In the FAQ section of the rule book in reference to (If a hero’s strength is reduced to 0) it mentions “you can defeat a hero even if you have no allies at the hero’s location” and also “no allies need to be discarded” but in the section explaining the (Vanquish Action) allies along with the hero must be discarded after using the vanquish action. I’m not sure if I’m reading into it too much or the rules contradict themselves.
I don't have it in front of me right now, but I think that's referring to other effects that might reduce a heroes strength to zero (a card effect, as opposed to a vanquish action). If it's a vanquish action that reduces the heroes strength to zero, then discard as instructed.
Just purchased this game at Target for $35USD. It is definitely a tricky game to get used to, not for children, but we are excited to get the hang of it and teach our friends.
So, each villain naturally takes actions within their own Realm to progress their own objectives. But these actions don't cause any heroic resistance-only actions by _other_ villains trying to hamper their efforts do that! Is Disney trying to tell us that their heroes were all funded by other villains trying to topple their regimes? (I should specify that _to my knowledge,_ villainous actions don't cause any heroic etc. Maybe some villain cards require you to draw from the Fate deck or something.)
Well, they’re coincidental, hence the reason they’re called “Fate” cards. I guess you _could_ say that other villains hamper their opponents using heroes, but the “fate” implies that they’re…random. But you may be on to something…
I have a couple questions... 1) Can more than one item from the villains deck be placed in a location if there is no Ally card at that location? 2) If more than one Fate Card has been placed on a location by your opponent, when it comes time to fight that hero, do you have to fight in the order that those cards were placed by your opponent(s)? Or, can you choose which hero to fight at a location?
1) What matters when attaching an item from the villain deck, is that there is a Hero there from the Fate deck to attach it to. It doesn't matter if you have allies there or not (but you might want to get one over there and fight the Hero :) ) 2) You pick the order.
There is no limit to the number or type of Items at a location. There is also no limit to the number or type of Items attached to an Ally. However, you cannot play an Item that must be attached unless there is a card (either Ally or Hero, depending on what the card specifies) to attach it to.
I love this game and am already getting overly excited about the idea of expansion pack with more villains especially cause they have you vote for your ones you want to play with. Definitely hope they do king candy, yzma, scar, Gaston, Hades, and I think Zurg from toy story would be super cool too
I wonder if we will see a lot more Disney themed modern style board games being released in the near future? Once again a fantastic tutorial video! I am really drawn in by its darker art style. I wonder how it plays. :D
Hook's card "Give them a scare" allows you to "look" at your top 2 cards of your fate deck and either discard them both, or place back on top of your fate deck in any order. It does not say "reveal" or "play". If Peter Pan is one of those 2, does he get played to the hangman tree immediately, or do you have to wait for an opponent to use the fate action (which why would they if you returned Peter? They'd know he's there or you'd discard him) or you play "obsession" or "worthy opponent", which do allow you to play a hero from your fate deck?
Hey DHowes, although I do my best to answer all rules questions on all the videos I create, once it gets into individual card effects/interactions, I have to bow out. It's just a little too much for me to try to cover as one person. That said, you might be able to find an answer by posting the question on the game's forum at BoardGameGeek!
You have to wait for an opponent to Fate you, or for when you play Obsession or Worthy Opponent. Even if your opponents know that you've returned Peter Pan to the top of your Fate deck, they may want to get him out sooner (before you play more Allies or set up for to Vanquish him more speedily) so they have more opportunity to add Pixie Dust to him, or play other Heroes and add Taunt to them.
Thanks for the video again Rodney. As a Disney-fan it is a instant buy for me, but I was wondering about the down-time cause It seems that a turn could take some time to fulfill.
This is something I would avoid commenting on, because it's hard to separate what is downtime related to the game, and what is down time generated by the players (someone just being indecisive).
I am super interested in this! But, having loved Robin Hood for well over 30 years (WELL over) I just can't imagine defeating him or Maid Marian!!!! That's just wrong, lol. I will happily play Ursula or Maleficient tho!
Hi, you said when you 'Move a Hero' you can now use the newly uncovered actions if your villain piece is there (9:00ish) but in directions, FAQ specifically, it only says you can do that if you Vanquish a hero (to reveal uncovered actions). Please clarify how you learned that, thanks. Playing Hook this came up often
I work with the publisher on these tutorial videos, so I'm able to ask questions and get clarifications on things not covered by the rules. The publisher also checks over each video before it releases. It doesn't mean that mistakes can't still occur, but your confidence level can be quite high :)
When the hero you need to have in your realm In order to meet your objective is in your fate deck do you have to wait until it is revealed by an opponent who has the fate action and uses it? Or can you go through your fate deck/fate discard pile and find the hero as shown in the video? Thanks so much for the tutorial! We’ve only played the game once, but we are having fun!!
You would need to wait until it comes out (unless you have a card you can play that might get it out early... different cards sometimes let you get cards early). Glad to hear you're having fun Jena!
I need clarification on some cards: Prince John Warrant: Gain 2 Power each time a Hero is played to this location Imprisson: Move a Hero to The Jail Is "play" and "move" different activities? Is "play" = to put a card into the realm (from hand or deck), or do you "play" a card to its new location when you move it within the realm?
Someone needs to create actual subtitles for this video. The auto-generated English ones says this is "the triceps player game notes" instead of "the two-to-six player game Villainous". I can't really watch it without subtitles, and I had to listen to it a handful of times to hear what it actually said.
The auto-generated subtitles are created by RUclips and I don't have control over why it does them in Dutch rather than English (I've looked into this in the past, and there is no good solution). I don't have the capacity to personally create subtitles for all of my videos, unfortunately, but we have viewers who sometimes volunteer to create them, so we'll see what happens.
On this channel I avoid reviewing or giving opinions on the game. I don't feel I can say for someone else what they will like or not like, so I prefer to show you as much detail about the game as possible, to help you make a decision about whether or not it seems like something that would appeal to your particular taste in games.
I typically avoid trying to explain particular card effects (too many of them for me to be an expert on all of them), but I do know this one, as the designer has officially answered it in the BoardGameGeek forums: You always draw up to five. Even if you have four cards in your hand, you will draw up to five with the pendant out. The exception being if Jasmine is also out since she has the opposite effect and they cancel each other out.
While I applaud the design based on this coverage, I think I'll wait- perhaps in vain- for the Studio Ghibli version (: (Of course, a Ghibli version probably wouldn't revolve around villains.)
Hi! I have a smaller version with three villains one of which is Cinderellas step mother. She has no vanquish play option on her borde, in that case how does she defeat the heros?
I do my best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card effects and characters from other sets, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. I'd suggest checking the rules forum for the game on BoardGameGeek or the publishers website. I hope you can find your answer there - have fun playing!
Question with Fauna and the Green Fire Curse: If that Curse is in play. And then Fate bring in Fauna. Can she remove the Green Fire Curse? Since her ability states 'When played, discard a Curse from her location.' And in the FAQ it also states: 'If the Ability on a card violates a rule in the Instructions, the card takes precedence.' We feel like her ability supersedes the Green Fire Curse, but want to make sure we are playing this correctly.
Hey Tim, while I do my best to answer all questions related to the rules of the games we feature, I avoid covering specific card effects (that gets to challenging to keep on top of with all the games we cover). However you might find the forums on BoardGameGeek for rules questions for this game helpful to find the answer: boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/256382/villainous/forums/66
Fauna cannot be played to a location with Green Fire or Forest of Thorns. However, she can be played to a location with Dreamless Sleep, thereby removing that Curse.
So can you move a hero to the opposite side of the board to defeat them? For example, captain hook’s objective is to defeat Peter Pan on the Jolly Roger 🏴☠️ location so could you move him from the far right of the board to the far left (the Jolly Roger location) sense the icon has arrows pointing left and right? Otherwise I don’t know how you’d get him to that location because not every location has an icon to move a card to an adjacent location. Hope this question makes sense.
You might be misunderstanding the Move Hero action. When you use the move hero action, you move any hero (no matter where it is on the board) from the space the "hero" is in, to a space adjacent "to that hero", not to a space adjacent to the "move hero" symbol. Let me know if that makes sense.
Question - We were playing Jafar v. Ursula and Jafar played Ariel at The Shore very early in the game. Over the next few turns, Jafar played the Dinglehopper and Snarfblat and attached them both to Ariel. Since Ursula could not move items until Ariel was defeated and Ariel could not be defeated by a Binding Contract at The Shore (only when moved to The Shore, but she was already there) this seemed to make Ariel unbeatable. The sticking point was could we move Ariel and leave the items behind or did the items have to move with her and since they were unmoveable until she was defeated, then she was unmoveable. Totally stumped!
Hey NLS, although I do my best to answer all rules related questions, I avoid getting into card or ability specific issues, as that would be too many rules to try to remember/manage for all the various videos I've created at this point. Sorry I can't assist with this one.
Hi there! Ursula can still move Heroes (and any Items attached to them) when Ariel is in her Realm. Arial just stops Ursula from using the Move an Item or Ally action, so she's unable to move the Crown, Trident, or Cauldron. Hope that clears things up!
@@RubyWish Thanks for the assists Ruby! If you want to send me an email to watchitplayed(at)live(dot)com, I'd be happy to give you little notices when questions pop up in here, if you'd like.
@@RubyWish thanks for your reply! We've continued to play without a repeat of that situation, but your explanation makes sense now. Also, we realized later that not all Binding Contracts sent the heroes to The Shore, initially. The games are so unique each time.
If genie is on another space on the fate side when cave is opened, is he automatically moved to cave of wonders and do any items on him already follow?
Hey Nicholas, while I do my very best to answer all rules questions on all games we cover, I avoid getting into specific card effects and such (it becomes too many rules to try to manage for one person) - for that you might want to check on the forums at BoardgameGeek. The small booklet which explains Jafar's objective may also help to clarify it a bit.
Hi Nicholas! If Genie is already in Jafar's realm when Magic Lamp is played, remove him from where he is, discard any cards that were attached to him, and then play him to the Cave of Wonders.
Played yesterday for the first time, my partner was Captain Hook and I was Prince John. He was lucky that Peter Pan was discovered quite quickly … I do have one question: I played a faint card: the hero tinkerbell: this card says “when tinkerbell is played you may discard one ally from her location”. At the time there was no ally. Can I then still place it?
Great question! Yes, you can still play Tinkerbell in that case. Often times (but not always), when you see the term "may" it means the effect is optional, so you can choose not to do it if you don't want. For example, even if there had been an ally at her location, playing Tinkerbell there doesn't mean you have to discard it, but you may. Hope that helps!
Hi, if I am moving an Ally or Item to a location where the token is, can I use that item's ability straight away on that turn? For example if I moved Captain Hook to Mermaid Lagoon and then I used the move the item ability to move Hook's Case from Skull Rock to Mermaid Lagoon, can I use that item's ability straight away in that turn and collect 1 power - or do I need to wait till the next time I land on Mermaid Lagoon again to collect the 1 power?
These are so helpful to review how to play a game.

Glad to know this was helpful - have a great time playing together :)
I love these videos. You take the time to slowly explain things instead of rushing through the instructions. 👍👍
Thanks Josh - glad you're enjoying!
Watch It Played thank you so much for the clarification. You are awesome!👍🏽👍🏽
And you're too kind :)
This is such a great channel. It reminds me of Unwrapped with Marc Summers in his delivery and inflection.
I watch these before playing a game the first time, and also as a refresher if it has been a while since playing a game.
This is the reason youtube exists, imo.
So glad to know the videos have been helpful!
Needs gameplay video for this one.
Rodney, Pep, will you do this for us?
It will be hilarious.
We'll see - in a busy period before Gen Con, so lots of tutorials to work on, but perhaps!
I second this. Seems like a perfect playthrough candidate. I really want to see how it plays as old school Robin Hood has my finger itching over the buy button
I third the motion, somone Has to play as maleficent, it would be hilarious
I fourth this
I fifth this
I love asymmetrical games and Disney movies. I must play this. The components look needlessly good, and I'm okay with that.
Glad I could help you get an early look at the game!
I hadn't heard of this game before. While fairly simple in terms of weight, the quality looks spectacular!
Glad I could help you get a sneak peek of the game!
And then we can secretly dream about a Star Wars or Marvel expansion... ;)
Lots of choices for expansions to pull from!
Well well well... 3 years later and the Marvel edition is out and a Star Wars edition is on the way!
Looking forward to playing this with my 13 year old we're pretty excited. We checked it out at a game shop but didn't have enough time to really get into it had no idea it would be so in depth. Amazon should have it to me by tomorrow and this video definitely was appreciated!
I hope you both have a great time playing Jordan!
Visually it looks clean and stylish, I actually loved it.
Thanks for checking out the video Johnny!
Missed an opportunity omitting Scar. Still, great! Wonderforge is becoming a force to be reckoned with.
Can you say... expansion?
I think expansions will be coming BC there's a option to vote on the website for Villian's that aren't in the game
Great Video. You did a great job breaking it down. I like that You don't use Um's and Uh's.
I try - glad you liked the video!
You can actually see how hard it's for Rodney to say "it's good to be bad" #canadian
It's against my very way of life!
Rodney, as always, i buy a game for my family, i watch your how to play. one of the best tubers on the internet!
So very kind of you to say - thanks ERL!
Best how to channel for board games on RUclips. Thanks again
Very kind of you to say!
I'd love to see Dr. Facilier, Scar, Evil Queen/Grimhilde (from Snow White), Oogie Boogie, Gaston, Cruella de Vil, Hades, Pete, Chernabog! Just ordered this one off of Amazon and can't wait to play it!
All but Oogie Boogie and Chernabog have been made. They did the Horned King from The Black Cauldron instead of Chernabog.
@@mondenkindqueen yes. This comment was made two years ago, before all of these expansions came out ;)
@@stevenwhite6632now so is Oogie Boogie! However with the horned king, I doubt Chernabog will come it
Wow!!! I was stunned to see how involved this game is.
Thanks for checking out the video! Glad I could help give you a look at it.
Quick thing do you have to move your pawn to a new space even on first turn?
Yes. But we designed that so that the left-most space isn't a super valuable space to be on for your first turn with each villain.
I would love to game play of this if you have time! (I know you’re busy with tons of tutorials). It seems like a really fun game and I love Disney! Thanks for the video as always
Thanks for watching! We definitely have a full schedule for most of the summer, so I can't say for sure if this one will get a playthrough.
You had 500 producers???!!!! Wow. We must show respect to Rodney Smith.
THANKS,
Appi
We ran a fundraiser to support the show - these people helped make the video possible because of that!
Hm this looks surprisingly fun actually. Definitely wish it had Hades and Scar though. But I like that it has the Robin Hood movie, that’s a fun surprise. I’d say definitely add Hades and Scar in an expansion though.. Although defeating Mufasa as Scar would bring back a lot of childhood trauma. lol
I don't know their plans for expansions, but it does seem like games that do well do tend to get them!
I'd imagine his victory condition would involve having Hyena Pack in play and defeat Simba.
I'd like to add the Horned King to that list of possible expansions.
There's a survey going on which characters you want to see in a future expansion: www.wonderforge.com/games/disney/villainous/voting.php
I really appreciate this. I am normally wonderful with instructions, but I am tired and a little stressed. I thought my head was gonna explode when I started reading! Thank you so much for the video. 😭
Hey, I get it - very happy to be able to assist, and make it a little easier to get into!
@@WatchItPlayed Just finished my first 1.5 hour, 4 player game! We had a blast. I can't wait to play again.
Love your videos. You've been such a help to our family game nights!!!
So nice to hear Jeremy!
Thanks as always, Rodney! You’re a staple of ‘new game night’ over here. Everyone knows that when someone brings a new game, we’re gonna order pizza and hang out with Rodney for the first hour. 😆
Always a pleasure to be a part of game night, even virtually :)
Got some new games from Christmas. I go to your videos before even opening the instruction book! Thank you.
You're very welcome - I hope they help!
@@WatchItPlayed Absolutely!
I just want to say your intro and outro music is awesome. So welcoming and enjoyable.
Well done to those who made it.
I'll pass that on to them! Glad you enjoy both of them.
As always Rodney, you're the best. I hope someday to meet you at a gaming con.
Thanks Jonesy!
I bet we'll see more expansions in the future!
geektyrant.com/news/disney-villainous-perfectly-wretched-brings-three-more-classic-villains-to-the-fantastic-board-game
Don't forget that Disney also owns Star Wars and Marvel. Plenty of villains to choose from.
This actually looks pretty cool!
Thanks for checking out the video!
Thank you if you can answer these questions :)
Love this game!
5) See 3
Hope that helps!
@@WatchItPlayed thank you! I'll check on boardgamegeek then ^^
I'm excited for this game. Hope that Scar, Hades, Frollo, and Cruella DeVille get added at some point
I've heard a lot of requests for those specific characters! Lots of material for expansions I imagine!
Good tutorial. I just bought this game and its expansions as Christmas gifts. Now I'll be able to explain how it's played to the family members it's for.
I hope you all have a great time!
This was very helpful! Thank you for the breakdown! It was much easier that reading over the directions in a jumble of letters. I appreciate this👏
So glad it helped!
This game looks awesome thanks for the video rodney
You're welcome! Glad you stopped in to take a look.
Thank you! This answered all of the questions I had after my first play through.
Very glad to hear it Andrew!
This looks pretty interesting! I was just at Disney World in Florida last week, and I was wondering if there would ever be a board game that used the characters from Disney movies in a game like this. Now I may have an answer! The artwork looks pretty good! Everything pretty recognizable from the movies?
Sounds like this timing was perfect for yuor desire for a Disney based game you might enjoy :)
Once again, well done Rodney! Looking forward to playing this game next month.
Thank you Christopher!
I'm hoping Horned King will appear in an expansion
Good guess! He came out in 2021!
You did an awesome job explaining how to play the game. Thank you so much!
Very kind of you to say Miles - thank you!
Just purchased this game at Target for $35USD. It is definitely a tricky game to get used to, not for children, but we are excited to get the hang of it and teach our friends.
Glad you're enjoying!
But you may be on to something…
this game looks amazing love the quality :)
Glad you're enjoying what you're seeing so far!
It doesn't matter if you have allies there or not (but you might want to get one over there and fight the Hero :) )
2) You pick the order.
Definitely hope they do king candy, yzma, scar, Gaston, Hades, and I think Zurg from toy story would be super cool too
I think if the game does well, we'll see other characters for sure!
I wonder if we will see a lot more Disney themed modern style board games being released in the near future? Once again a fantastic tutorial video! I am really drawn in by its darker art style. I wonder how it plays. :D
If this sells well, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw more games from our hobby, like this, with the Disney IP.
Can you win the game even with heroes still on your board?
You can! Assuming no specific villain's rules say otherwise (such as Hook needing to defeat Peter Pan).
Always my number one go to when I get a new game.
So kind of you to say!
I am super interested in this! But, having loved Robin Hood for well over 30 years (WELL over) I just can't imagine defeating him or Maid Marian!!!! That's just wrong, lol. I will happily play Ursula or Maleficient tho!
If it helps, Prince John's goal isn't necessarily to defeat Robin Hood, just to get very very rich.
Great video as always and a great looking, high-quality game!
Thanks AlmightyCow :)
I got this game for Easter, along with 20 DVD episodes of The Twilight Zone (original.) My parents know me so well.
Hope you have a great time playing!
I need clarification on some cards:
Prince John
Warrant: Gain 2 Power each time a Hero is played to this location
Imprisson: Move a Hero to The Jail
Is "play" and "move" different activities?
Is "play" = to put a card into the realm (from hand or deck), or
do you "play" a card to its new location when you move it within the realm?
Play and Move are different activities. Your first definition of Play is correct. Hope that helps!
Thank you this was very helpful
You're very welcome Lily!
Bought this game today! First time I saw it in a store in Sweden! (North of Sweden anyway)
Have a fun time playing!
I need Ratigan's gameplay 😆
Very detailed explanation! Well done!
Thank you!
I just submitted some, so hopefully they'll be approved and available soon!
Wonderful job Ruby! I've just approved them (and thank you!)
It's been approved! Thanks so much!
Really clear explanation as always. Many thanks Rodney.
Glad you enjoyed it
So... is it any good? To play, that is. It certainly looks pretty.
On this channel I avoid reviewing or giving opinions on the game. I don't feel I can say for someone else what they will like or not like, so I prefer to show you as much detail about the game as possible, to help you make a decision about whether or not it seems like something that would appeal to your particular taste in games.
werothegreat W. Eric Martin at the Board Game Geek channel talks more about the gameplay experience in his video.
Need help with card interpretation. Scarab Pendant says draw one extra card. Does this mean you can hold more than 4 cards?
I typically avoid trying to explain particular card effects (too many of them for me to be an expert on all of them), but I do know this one, as the designer has officially answered it in the BoardGameGeek forums: You always draw up to five. Even if you have four cards in your hand, you will draw up to five with the pendant out. The exception being if Jasmine is also out since she has the opposite effect and they cancel each other out.
this video actually cleared up a few nitty gritty rules my kids argue about
Here's to fewer arguments and more fun :)
When capt hook is told to draw until he finds a hero, does he play it to his own realm or another realm?
To his own realm.
While I applaud the design based on this coverage, I think I'll wait- perhaps in vain- for the Studio Ghibli version (:
(Of course, a Ghibli version probably wouldn't revolve around villains.)
Question with Fauna and the Green Fire Curse:
If that Curse is in play. And then Fate bring in Fauna.
Can she remove the Green Fire Curse?
Since her ability states 'When played, discard a Curse from her location.'
And in the FAQ it also states: 'If the Ability on a card violates a rule in the Instructions, the card takes precedence.'
We feel like her ability supersedes the Green Fire Curse, but want to make sure we are playing this correctly.
Thanks, looking forward to this game!
Hope you have a great time playing!
We've found the game to be pretty fun. The learning curve is a bit detouring. Good job on the walkthrough, a lot to cover but organized nicely
Thank you kindly!
Can you please do a game play video. I just bought this game and I'm eager to get it right. Please... 1v1 version
Hey Purni, no plans currently, my shooting schedule is already full.
This would be an amazing TCG game
Looks cool!

Question #1
During the action phase, can I play the same ability twice or just once?
Question #2
If able, can I play all four abilities in a location?
Hey there, does this cover it for you? ruclips.net/video/8wdvXKRfoPI/видео.html
If there are more than one hero in a location, can you choose which one you attack or do you have to attack the one that was placed there first?
You can choose which one to attack.
Watch It Played excellent. Thanks for the quick reply. 👍🏻
Good instructions, thanks.
You're very welcome Chris!
So if I use the vanquish thing and the hero is on a different place can I still defeat them
That's right! You don't have to vanquish on the spot you're standing.
Just bought this. So excited to try it out!
I hope you enjoy it Thornton!
Is the game going to be avaliable in germany? I'm already in love with it, but I can't find it anywhere to purchase.
It won't be releasing until later this month, but I'm not sure what countries it will be available in.
It is a large producer, so just a matter of time!
I normally do my best to answer all rules questions, but I lent my copy of this game to a friend, so I can't easily look up the rule to help you.
