While not 100 percent happy with this video, I am at least glad to get it out on time.
I'm still trying to write and edit videos faster. I have a rough timeline that I can follow given I have enough willpower and ability to do so when factoring in my work schedule.
And I defintely need to step it up since I have so many new products coming in that could be potential videos, even stuff thats a little different from the usual thing.
Its a little overwhelming to think about, but I feel like its make or break time for this channel in a way.
I wasn't able to make the video I wanted for the anniversary, and while I wanted to make that video instead for my upcoming birthday, I'm probably gonna have to pivot since some newer figures are reaching my doorstep pretty soon. So stay tuned

It's because this figure wasn't designed by the Transformers team at Hasbro, it was actually done by the GI Joe team. So while it's not for me personally, this figure would be directly in the bracket of a GI Joe fan like you said, and I think it does well for that.
It actually was designed by members of the TF team, even one of the Takara guys. I think the concessions made for the tank mode as well as the budget is where the problem are

i'm a fan of both lines, but i think i'd go more GI Joe, if i had to pick... and so as a Joe fan, I can honestly say... I don't like the design of it either. So if you were correct on which team did it and who it was made for, they still failed. Also.. THE PRICE! It looks like a cheap $20 toy, not a $90 usd toy

I had that thought too, but the characters have a long history of crossover in comics so that really wasn’t a problem for me

the bubblebee one looks worse! they should have used a VAMP and made it turn into Hound, that would be the best fit. AWE striker usually pretty cool.. but not this bubblebee version! lol..

Didn’t work into the review, my main issue being the aesthetics and limitations of the design. In reality I almost completely forgot about it even almost forgetting to film clips with it lol

great video, but i do wish that you used a brighter background as it's quite difficult to make out the black of the figure from the black of the background
It looked brighter in camera and in editing, I have since bought a fill light so hopefully I can avoid this in the future

The modern Baroness figure can fit in the cockpit just as well. I like this figure despite the flaws, it is what it is.

@@Gei4Mei No that is Fans Hobby Meg Tyranno. TFC Toys STC-02 is a G.I.Joe Megatron design that was come up by a transformers artist a few decades ago. It was then updated by TFC toys.
It is based on Destro's Dominator, with Mamba and few other things all mashed up together, into a gigantic Warmachine that makes the Rolling Thunder Optimus Prime seem like a lightweight vehicle.
I highly recommend looking up some of the reviews on RUclips.

I will say that I did like G.I. Joe way back years ago. And for some reason I enjoyed popping the heads off of those figures.

The Bumblebee GI Joe figure is even worse. They really shit the bed on these.
Well, for starters Megatron is a main battle tank type of guy so a HISS is a poor choice, maybe a HISS II or if they change the turret armament like they did for the non transforming HISS Shockwave a while back.
I'm not super crazy about AWE striker Bumblebee either. AWE striker Beachcomber would be correct but a Vamp Hound would have been perfect.

More over, it should not have been Megs. A Hiss tank is the cannon fodder vehicle of Cobra. Unfitting the ruler of the decepticons. Bumblebee as an awestriker is a weird choice as well. Did Hasbro forget about Beachcomber or is it the 'Op, Megs, BB Popularity Curse' in effect.
This should be a huge deal but in the end Hasbro half-assed bot designs that are hollow as sh!t and through in a cheap retro reissue joe figure instead of a detailed 25th figure.
Honestly I hope 3rd parties try their hand at joe crossover Transformers because the idea is sound, it just requires effort and quality.

G2 Megatron is already a GIJoe crossover... It would have been cool to have him be a G2 homage instead of G1 Megatron cosplaying as a hiss tank
It's ridiculous how much they cheaped out on this figure, it's got the same engineering as the discount store/walgreens exclusive brand transformers but is like 5 times the price of those.
The thing about saying how the issue is this is a "transformer made for gi joe fans" Isn't really a good excuse for why it's so bad. Both Gi joe and transformers have a lot of overlap, and this even the first crossover figure! I think Snowcat in energon was technically the first, being a transformer that's alt mode is literally a gi joe vehicle, but I could be wrong. There were more recent ones than that too but a lot of them were either event, subscription service, or some other kind of exclusive. Heck, they even made a serpentor transformer out of that version of scourge that turns into a stealth bomber! The O ring releases for gi joe seem to be more expensive yet more cheaply made than anything else being put out right now, really unfortunate it's more or less the replacement of the "retro series" of figures they were making which started out as slightly tweaked versions of the 25th style of gi joe figures but eventually got into more advanced and original molds like the cobra trooper. To go from something with that much articulation at a tiny scale back to something that's not only cheaper to produce but being charged for more now is a real slap in the face.
Thats what I think it really is, the Baroness eats up the cost. Apparently she’s been newly rebuilt or something. When I said it was the transformer for GI Joe fans I meant that in the context where I said the toy was favoring that side in terms of design and marketing and what we’re assuming is price. Not that being made for Joe fans is what makes it a bad figure in my opinion

It has a quite a wicked sick-looking box though; which makes me feel like this wasn't meant to be played with. Instead, the purpose of this toy is for rich nerds to point at the unopened box in their man/woman-cave and say "Baroness can totally ride Megatron! There's the proof! And I was there when *it* happened!"

What absolutely drives me nuts is that this wasn’t based on G2 megatron. GI JOE has crossed over with Transformers before. IN G2! Cobra gave megatron his fucking tank mode! They should’ve based the design off that, turning the front of the hiss tank into his torso like G2 Megs. That’d make the kibble less terrible, and look much better imo. As well as being a reference to the first crossover of the franchises.

@CGG_GSS sorta? G2 Megs is definitely similar. Usually his tank cannon is mounted on his shoulder, and the back of the tank is the legs. Otherwise pretty similar to warpath. Just look up “G2 Megatron” and find the one from the 90s that’s a giant green tank and you’ll see what I mean.

What frustrates me is I know Hasbro can do better. in Combiner Wars, we got a Powerglide redeco, Viper. Painted in the Cobra Rattler blue, face sculpted like a mask of Wild Weasel. And this wasn't even a big deal. Just a cheeky wink and a nod to fans of both GI Joe and Transformers. I hoped this would become a thing a GI Joe homage slipped in every other wave. Nothing big just a repaint to sell the same toy twice. I mean that's right up Hasbro's alley. It seemed to make sense.
Imagine Warpath, painted sand yellow with a caped head like Dusty going by Mauler. Beachcomber remade into an AWE Striker with Footloose or Rock n Roll as a head. The Core class seekers redone as a Sky Striker with Ace or Fire truck Inferno/Artfire as BBQ. Maybe take this Arcee/Road Rocket motorcycle and make ninja cycles with Storm Shadow and Jinx. The point is there are so many opportunities Hasbro could have make an extra $250 - $300 on molds they already have.
The HISS tank's central problem is GI Joe sells vehicles you figures can ride in. Just like Star Wars. But for Transformers, the vehicle IS the figure. Its a difference with a distinction.

Anyways, good review. I have no doubt that it definitely could have been done better. I think if they’d used the actual transformers vs G I Joe comics from the early 00s as reference we’d be getting much better figures instead of this pos and the dumb af bumblebee.
Also, I preordered Jetfire on TFSource two weeks ago. I’ll gladly pay $90 instead of the $350+ scalpers on Amazon & eBay want for it. I have the thrilling 30 one but I never expected them to make a show accurate one & by the time I found out about it it was already going for $130 on the second hand market.

As i was saying...even as not being g i joe fan, As transformers fan, i could maybe be interested, but i am not, because its too pricey for such bad engineered toy, in which, the bigger they are, the better the engineering , specially for the kibble parts. And all that hollowness, that is what you see and buy from chinese store's bootlegs.
we live in an age, where bootlegs are starting to offer better plastic material and engineering, rather then the official thing, and better endurance. How sick is that?

I looked at it from the perspective of both a GI Joe and a Transformers fan, and wrote it off as a giant hunk of shit. Everything is botched about this release, from the design of Megatron to them using a different shade of paint for the eye areas on Baroness, which makes her look like she is wearing those eye gimmick sunglasses they sold to kids in the 80s where the eyes were painted on the lenses. They should have painted her entire face the same flesh tone if they really felt the need to paint a skin tone, then used another template that added her eye lashes specifically with eye dot, and rim of her glasses after.
For $90 this should be commander class quality, without all the gaps and stuff. Hasbro is just greeedy now. Same reason for the "plastic free" packaging. If you think they give two craps about the environment, I have a space bridge to sell you.
Oh I know, some people really like the cheap packaging, but like I said I think in my Ravage review, it isn’t effecting the price. Its a virtue signal primarily in my eyes

It was obviously a purposeful big brain choice to get that Nostalgia going, Hasbro are made up of the smartest boys with the smartest boy ideas.

i hate the argument of "for tf fans this sucks but itll appeal better to GI Joe fans" bc it gives the impression that GI Joe fans can be just as overcharged for shit like if Voyagers and Deluxes in the TF Sphere have even a TENTH of the amount of hollowness and non-functioning articulation in relation to price, the TF Fandom literally make trending hashtags from complaining. Like GI Joe fans, yall deserve better raise your standards
I guess I could’ve worded it better, but what I meant was I got the impression Hasbro intended it for GI Joe fans, thus didn’t make it to the standard that TF fans would expect, not that they wanted to give GI Joe fans a crappier product specifically. I agree tho, every fanbase should be more vocal about quality concerns
Coming from the G.I.Joe side, I don't think this set is good at all. I was really interested when it was first presented.
It did not take long for my interest to drop.
I had to cancel my preorder.
To me this is just another 1983 H.I.S.S. tank. Okay, it transforms, and it's Megatron. But why? Hasbro could have gotten much more creative than sticking with the 1983 H.I.S.S.. Megatron could have been a H.I.S.S. II... or even a Cobra Rage. Or even something completely new, some new tank with Megatron underneath. A "G2 Megatron" tank would have been more interesting to me.
The Baroness figure was the weakest half of this set in my view. 1984 is gone and there's been so much in between then and all through to the present day to draw some inspiration from and come up with an original take on the Baroness character but .... here's the 1984 Baroness. Again.
At the very least an "upgraded," or different turret weapon system on the Megatron H.I.S.S. could have been put on instead of the same "double diablo" cannon. Or have that whole back turret piece drop off and become a battle station for a G.I.Joe figure. The 1983 H.I.S.S. clear canopy has needed an upgrade for 40 years and Hasbro had a chance to do it here.
So many possibilities of better everything all around.
But...
This review and analysis is great.... and I agree, "They F**CKED Up This Crossover!"
Overhyped, overpriced, under designed, under engineered. It's like a cheap KO toy you find at a dirt-mall flea market.
