  • Our Old Hickory shed was built in our backyard in just six hours by a team of four. It took me 10 DAYS to prep it for painting! But I am semi-retired and not in a hurry, so I took my time thinking through each step recording video of the process as I went.
Yes, there are some things that I could have done better. I could have used different tools, techniques, or products. But I accomplished what I set out to do. And that was to plug the large openings with spray foam, fill the gaps between junctions, theT1-11 groove openings at the trim boards, and all around the windows with caulk. This took a lot of time. No contractor would have given as much attention to details as did I.
    Background:
On March 11, 2021, we placed an order for 12’ x16’ Old Hickory Shed, lofted barn style from Redd’s Sheds located in Port Angeles, Washington. The shed had to be built on site because our backyard is entirely fenced in. Quin, the owner of Pacific NW Sheds and a subcontractor of Old Hickory Sheds, built our shed with a crew of three in just six hours over a two-day’s time on April 21-22. I recorded video of the entire process, with permission from all in advance, of course. The breakdown of the cost is provided below. All construction prices are up because of increased demand and increasing lumber costs. This project did cost more money than we had planned, but the end result was absolutely worth it!
Total Cost of Old Hickory Shed: $11,243.82
Old Hickory lofted barn shed, 12 ft. x 16 ft. plus options: $9,808.28
Gravel Pad (we installed ourselves): $627.18
Build on-site by Pacific NW Sheds: $808.36
Prep shed for painting: Coming soon!
    Paint shed: TBD

Nice video!! Will you put a critter guard under the side of your shed so your cat or any small animal wouldn’t be able to go underneath the shed?

Good question! I thought about installing a critter guard, but then I found this to be a convenient space to store long boards. If I notice some critter activity, I might install a guard around the shed. Thank you for your comment and for watching my video!

Someone's retired, huh, lol. Very slow tedious work. Might be easier to prepaint the boards before putting them up and getting in those cracks. Nice looking shed though.
