I love thrifting and thrifting videos! Unfortunately most thrift stores in my area are more expensive than just going to Walmart, but I still love to look at what they have. I do love Thred Up, it's an online store and it's wonderful.
For your shelves you need a variety of heights and textures. Think tall vases next to a stack of books with a fun pot/statue on the stack and also picture frames of various heights. You don’t just want 1 layer items if that makes sense. We have built in book shelves framing our fireplace and I searched Pinterest for decor inspiration. You should start there.
Thrifting for the win! I think you could place some fragrant potpourri in the white milk glass "vase." (Oh, please post a video of Van's second birthday!)

The xylophone toy at the beginning gave me a laugh. We have one just like it & I will often look up and see my preschoolers racing around the house on it like a skateboard
