- It’s so good I had to show a play through. Mortal Kombat 2 Remix has been out for awhile, however I had no idea so it’s new to me. I am VERY impressed with this. Watch as I play through this entire game with my favourite character, Scorpion.

I just downloaded this to my PC this morning, and.....DAMN, THIS is how MK is supposed to be like. Not that NRS/Warner Bros trash they call MK1. MK2 Remix put a huge smile on my face and made my day. Thanks for uploading this video!!

It's sad that stupid WBs doesn't get the hint from fans that this is what we want. I still hope for HD PORTS of MK 1, 2, and 3, but I'm not holding my breathe🙄

Agreed 100% with the technology they have now, i can only imagine what MK wiuld be if they came back to this, same combo engine, real life look, even sick if they put brutality combo back in but it would be mix with Xray move as a finisher etc,

19:37 This is how the Pit 2 animation was done in the early versions of MK2 before it was changed. I only seen this on one machine ever in a Burger King in New York in 1995. I thought I was having a Berenstein Bears moment with this memory as a young teenager but it is real this Mugen confirms it. In the final version of the game the player sprite doesn't zoom and the ground sprite doesn't twist.

for me, what makes these mugen MK games so great is the ability to access to all the combos, moves and fatalities etc by hitting start while playing. Theres also the training mode to play around with. I actually gave up playing MK1 and bought a 4:3 dell monitor (proper aspect ratio) just to play these, as the old school gameplay is WAY more fun than the newer versions, but thats just me lol

to be COMPLETELY honest my #1 TIED favorite mortal kombat 2 characters are still LITERALLY all of the masked ninjas who i still EQUALLY SOMEWHAT like
i remember long ago i was in Disney as a child for a family trip in the 90s when I got MK2 for pc. My dad let me get it and I was so happy! I remember Scorpion had 3 fatalities you could do. The slice, the standard scorch, and a special Toasty scorch that required some extra step to do.
Love how you get teleported to the other bridge to fight hornbuckle that was a very nice touch and that volcano was beautiful

I wish they would give us the original arcade versions from back in the day I mean the original stuff. None of all the current versions are close to that. This looks like a very fun version to play! I agree with you that the backgrounds look pretty incredible. The added run button and combos and extra moves are a nice touch. I noticed it has many elements from Shaolin Monks, which is welcomed. Overall, i really enjoyed watching this and look forward to playing it in the future. 👍👊
Thanks dude, it's a very accessible version for people of every skill level which is a huge plus. I’m pretty sure they copied the same voice of the announcer from Shaolin Monks. Also playing more last night you’ll see in upcoming videos how they actually combine the voice samples for characters from MK4 also as Liu Kang is all over the place with his speech clips, it’s really funny actually lol the run button and combos work really well in this also, the game plays really well. I ended up editing Scorpion’s sound files in my version of Remix to get rid of his “come here bitch,” and “get the fuck over here” yells. I’m normally all for swearing in video games, but it kinda killed the vibe for me with this one. Personal preference.

@@BushyStallion Yeah, it’s fun the first couple of times you hear it, but after a while it starts to get repetitive and tacky. Just kinda clashes with the vibe of MK2 for me.

You should see other MK MUGEN games that have Scorpion cursing when he hurls you with his spear, it became a trend in the MK MUGEN community. You'll eventually get tired of it just like any other trend in general.

A little MK2 story .. I was the 1st to play MK2 @ at my local arcade back then .. Heck we might've been the 1st in New England area besides Boston .. It was so exciting the moment we saw it being brought into the arcade .. I was @ Bowl-A-Rama in Portsmouth, NH with my mom and best friend just bowling and hanging out .. We saw that an arcade machine was being brought in with the dolly and quickly noticed that side art with Raiden and we literally lost our minds lol .. We knew what it was and we were gonna wait until it was set up ready to play no matter what .. What is kinda crazy is the machine they brought out and replaced it was an original MK1 arcade .. I chose Reptile and my friend Craig chose Raiden .. I'll just never forget that thrill .. First ones to play it !!!!
Went back that weekend and there was more ppl lined up to play that than ppl in the bowling alley and I remember the guy I played against told me how to do Reptile's tongue fatality ..
I have dozens of great MK1 stories too when they used to put the quarters up on the screen saying you were up next 🤑

I shared my story on here a handful of times also and my most memorable MK2 story involves me watching an older guy playing it at my local bowling alley also 👊🏼 I enjoyed your story sounds like you have a few in regards to MK. 5 mins in and so many positives to say about this version (again another mk2 version ive never seen) and I laughed my ass off first time i heard scorpion say "get the f*** over here", but i have to admit, im not sold on the run button and "dial a combo" set up, makes it a bit too mk3 for my liking. Dont get me wrong I also love mk3, but these are changes i don't think mk2 needed, it loses its uniqueness 🤷♂️

Just my opinion, but definitely don't bother with getting these video captured like you suggested. The unique appeal of your videos is that it's like we're looking over the shoulder of some MK beast at a cabinet in the arcade. Which in fact, we are with the beast part! It's a perfect vibe. Plus the recording quality like this looks great anyway.
I appreciate the comment my friend, I actually do get this a lot, trust me point and shoot works better for my busy life, I’m more curious as to how video capture works on the laptop then anything to be honest but I won’t be veering from my style any time soon or at all, video capture would be cool here and there depending on the video that’s all. What is your overall opinion about the running button in MK in general?
Makes the gameplay faster. Love it.
I personally hated it. It felt (and still feels) clunky and contrived. Having it as a seperate button was an annoyance, too. I hated MK3 onwards, though.
I couldn't believe how great MK9 was when it came out. Definitely the peak of the series.
What did you think of the run button and MK3?

Lol, after your last one on mk2+, I searched this one up so I wouldn't have the two mixed up. Mk2+ is the best mame mk2 but this remix is the best remake overall. I really like the moveset here. Bear in mind I can't play this but have watched a bit. This game didn't have to go this hard but I'm glad it did.

I'm also just found out about this gem recently this week. I'm very happy.. This is a MK II upgrading I've been hoping to see for years. It's not an over-the-top makeover like many others. I hope it'll only improve in the next version. 🙂👍

It's a shame they don't release these Mugen games legitimately.
Mugen games are free downloads, and always will be, because the Mugen engine itself, along with all the content needed to make the games, is free to download

@@stupendous1068The MUGEN engine itself is copyrighted, selling a MUGEN game would only lead to a lawsuit with the founders of the engine. MUGEN games for modern game consoles will never be a thing, even if the MUGEN game itself is an original title and not based on existing fighting game franchises, you still wouldn't see one ported to a game console. That's one reason why I have a laptop to begin with, because of MUGEN, it's Windows PC only, there's nothing you can do about that.

If you didn't already find out, there are a TON of those Mugen MK remixes for many different versions. I've seen a guy play one on here where there's like literally 100+ characters to pick from lol. I think a version even exists that has all versions of all characters.
The best thing about these mugen versions is the AI. Rarely do i feel cheated by it and it is more like "i can do better". That is hard to pull off in any game. It's just pure fun!

Really happy to see you playing this one, as I said in my comment on the MK2 + video, its an awesome game which, in my opinion at least, is the definitive non arcade version of the game, and comes very close to being as good as, if not better than the arcade, theres a few minor nitpicks that mean it falls slightly short. About the stages recycling so much, as far as I'm aware, thats an unfortunate quirk of the MUGEN engine itself, and there's not a lot you can do about it

I’ve been asked to try Mugen games about 1000 times. This might be the first i saw that interested me. Does the gameplay feel about the same?
The gameplay is definitely more UMK3 and MK4ish, also, I noticed after this video while playing for a couple hours more that a lot of the sound clips are from MK4 which you would appreciate. But the great thing about this version is the difficulty. It’s definitely way more lenient than original versions which makes it amazingly fun. Definitely look into it. I was hesitant on MUGENS also, but already, I love this version.

UMK2 sounds correct, still a very fun version. I don’t know much about it to be honest so I’m not sure who’s available to play in it. Pretty sure Shang changes into Sonya and Kano for a couple of his Fatalities though.

It is called "Hornbuckle" because of longtime fans rumor. But yep forgotten Liu ancestor will be cooler to see there.
