  • A serial predator dubbed Mr. Cruel had an incredible impact on Australia in the late 1980’s - 90’s. The masked assailant, who police believe may be responsible for around a dozen attacks on children across Melbourne, could still be alive.

    Here’s a long shot theory. He was a cop, and that’s why all the evidence is missing and that’s how he was able to carry these out almost perfectly. He didn’t kill the first victims because he didn’t need to and the last victim he “needed” to. And then he went dormant because he knew the rest of the community of cops would’ve had their dander up over this and looking for this. He knew what the penalty looked like and wanted to switch MOs if he ever returned back to killing. Idk how difficult it was to obtain a handgun back then in Australia or how the police handled issued firearms but this should be looked into.

      The victims should have sued the police also for telling international profilers in 1991 that all 4 crimes of 1987-91 took place during school holidays or breaks. This led respected profilers to conclude that there was a high probability that the offender worked in a school in some capacity.
      The problem was that only 2 of the 4 crimes took place during school breaks and NONE remotely suggest school employment. The 3 July 1990 Tuesday night crime took place in a normal school week in term 2 for virtually all schools in the State of Victoria.
      Yet the official profile with this mistake in it was treated as an article of faith for more that 30 years.
      The error was called out by a Melbourne newspaper in April 2022, after the official profile was exposed as flawed by an ex-employee of the College 2 of the victims attended.

      @@justmemimi7338While anything is possible with this offender, about 60 seems a little on the old side for clambering over a 2 metre fence with a kidnap victim in tow in 1991. Ditto for carrying one of the victims considerable meterage. While some people around that age have great stamina, the sort of crimes that the offender repeatedly carried out suggest someone younger. The ethnicity of the suspect put forward would also be questionable. This doesn’t sound like someone who would match polite profiles, with one of the taskforce suggesting a man of 34-48 years old, and one of the victim’s family suggesting younger that that.
      Still police are obliged to follow up leads, even unpromising one.

The HK protocol is this, negotiate with the kidnappers first, if this fails, call the police. Nothing out of the ordinary here.

    At 27:50 is a photo of a café at Lower Plenty which probably didn’t belong to the Chan family. Back in 1991 they did own an upmarket Cantonese restaurant called Mings, near the Lower Eltham Park. They also owned a restaurant at Bulleen (correctly indentified) in the video, and possibly another according to the 1991 business phone book.
    Recent researchers have claimed that the Chan family never owned the takeaway café at Lower Plenty.

    • @csbenzo
      @csbenzo Месяц назад +2

      @@wannabebluestockingThanks for your input here. Your experiences would have been unnerving to say the least.
      Lower Eltham Park was just across the road from the victim’s family restaurant and a 15-20 minute walk to the first victim’s home. Some researchers say the large ride on model railway here may have a place in these linked crimes i.e. 1988 victim lived near a railway station and was left near a railway line. 1990 victim lived relatively close to a railway line and was left near the old abandoned Outer Metro Line. 1991 victim’s remains were left a short walk from a railway line, and the college the last 2 victims attended was sited along a light rail line.
      The police profile claimed the offemder was highly mobile but all this sounds like someone who at least had trains as a hobby. The Lower Eltham Park had multiple reasons available why anyone would be there so it is almost perfect for surveillance.
