If you don't open your 4 number combination safe often, it's easy to forget how!
We're going to focus on opening a safe with a 4 digit combination, but if you want to see how to open a safe with a 3 number combination, just visit the link above.
Opening a 4-number combination safe is nearly identical to those with 3 numbers except they are exactly opposite in the the turning of the dial! 4 digit combinations start by turning the dial CW (to the right) instead of CCW.
After you have dialed in the combination, the safe will open and there's no need to turn the dial back to retract the bolt.

For Falcon (Korean) safes with 3 numbers combination, first rotate 4 times and stop at the first number. Then so on and so forth

Had to open an old Gardall safe. The process was slightly different. Start by turning the dial to the "left" four times...

My safe is exactly opposite. I start by spinning left, then right, Left, right. It's a safe-d-posit mighty max safe model number 1190.

Hi! I have a 4-digit Donovan safe which I was able to open 3 weeks ago. In fact, I had left it in the open position so that I only have to use the key.
Today I tried opening it using the key but couldn’t. In view of that, I used the combination. However, the key is not turning.
What recourse do I have?

If the working key is not turning the keyhole, that lock has probably failed. I'm not familiar with that brand of safe. If you can, take it to a locksmith. Or have a locksmith out to your house. Or if it's very inexpensive just break in and replace it (cheaper than professionally drilling and repairing).
