How to De-register and Factory reset a 4th Gen (2020) Amazon Echo Dot

In this video we take a look at how you de-register and Factory Reset a 4th Generation Amazon Echo Dot. Typically you would perform this action if you intend to decommission, sell or give away your Echo Dot.
Notes: In order to correctly deregister an Amazon Echo Dot, the device needs to be connected to the internet. It is also worth noting, that by Factory Resetting your Echo Dot, you will be removing any settings, applications and data that may have been stored on the device.

How do you register a device?

An ALERT to those using this procedure. I tried this procedure twice (making sure it was connected to the internet). It reset back to the original "delivery state", which included the registration of the Echo Dot gen 4 to my account. This procedure did not de-register the Dot 4 from my account. I'm guessing it's better to do that first.

Does this work if the device was locked by amazon? Will it be able to work if It was marked as stolen?
