i actually used my minecraft skin i made and used for years. i edited it and changed the outfits till i was happy and i stare at it all the time. just gotta get the courage to stream next ;-;

I'm thinking of doing that too. I made a mincraft skin and then made it in gacha club to see it less blocky. I really like how it looks.

Very helpful video! I've only recently settled on a basic idea for a Vtuber avatar I might pursue getting made at some point, and this definitely gave me some more ideas on how to bring that to fruition and help flesh things out! Appreciate the positivity of your how-to's as well!

I know this video is a few years old, but its a really nice digestion of character design haha, I love this series and I often find my way coming back to these while I work on lore/art for my future rig, its fun to hear things I could do while I'm doing them hahaha. if I had anything to add, id just say, don't be afraid to just do it, I suffered for a long time from wanting to perfect everything before I started, You can debut as many times as you want, change whatever whenever you want, and the right fanbase will find themselves to you. Dont wait until you are ready to start, because you have a great idea, and it needs room to evolve :). Great vid!!!

I actually got inspired from Genshin Livestreams and I'm designing my character as PNGtuber based on a similar model but with unique in its own right.
I just have a question.. How a vtuber not in Hololive can have a popular debut..?
By slowly building your fanbase, then if you're satisfied with the amount of followers, make the debut
Try engaging audiences on twitter! E.g. sneak peaks/teasers of your character, maybe doing a sneak peak of the lore or release the lore, try to find groups of aspiring vtubers or vtubers (don’t make it so that you can network! Try to make friends and get to know the crowd) make content to build up hype, use appropriate hashtags on twitter such as #VTuber or #ENVtuber are popular hashtags. When you debut obviously try to be entertaining and engaging, introduction stream would be good!
After debut, try to make content! You can’t become popular just through streaming, you must make engaging content in forms of memes and clips of funny moments on RUclips or TikTok so people who stumble upon it can get to know you as a creator and it would be nice for fans to revel in the entertainment or for fans who doesn’t like watching long streams but rather watch funny clips.
These are just some tips. If you haven’t started yet, you must make sure content creation is fit for you!
A massive con is that its hard work and most vtubers especially successful ones find it hard to find time to sleep sometimes because they have to always plan their streams and the content they will have to push out. Dip your toes in it to be sure you like it, especially if you’re planning on spending lots of money on it~

Totally, (Just an idea): maybe you could make lore out of that like have something happen to you character to make them that way. Also you could give the character an edgy personality that comes off cute.
You can do whatever you want there are not limitations else than what you can imagine
what if the ears were like mushrooms?? the fluffy exterior can be red with spots, and the inside can be the underside of a mushroom!

the thing is im too indecisive. i quite literally can't decide what i want to beeee.
Maybe leave it to chance and just put all the things you’d like to try being into a random selector and just go with it. Just an idea since im also chronically indecisive thus the constant redesigning 😅. What matters is you give it a go and just have fun with it.
Mmm something I kind of struggling with is the feeling of just having to much going on. Like Oh maybe I shouldnt have a hat and horns even though I really like the idea with the character. So just ending up with how simplified should it be in the end...
Maybe you can try a simple base design and just having special outfits later on? For hats, you can just have a no hat version which a lot of vtubers tend to do anyway when they have a hood or hat.

I was hoping it would be a more technical tutorial. When I saw how much people were charging for vtuber commissions I thought 2 things. 1: No way in hell am I paying THAT MUCH, and 2: If I learn how to make it myself I can take commissions and charge just as much money as the other people do despite my belief that its too much because I am a selfish bitch. I should still take the time to design my own character though and this was helpful for that.

Maaaan, I was working on making my own vtuber avatar, and my themes were also a ram and sleepy 😅 guess it's back to thr drawing board for me
sheep and sleep are not too uncommon of a concept combo but if you like it, don't change bc it's not a super unique idea. You can add more things like mixing more concepts or having a fun and unique color palette.
Also, my vtuber is not a sleepy ram btw orz i'm a changeling and i redesigned several times in hopes of having a design that works better for my concept and preferences. So yeah it doesn't have to be perfect right from the start.

@@kaeriruu I had a similar idea for mine, but they can only change if they have a point of reference (photo, drawing, etc.) to use as they can't visualise stuff properly without seeing it. So for instance if they changed their appearance to have animal ears, they would need a picture or drawing of said animal in front of them as they can't get details right from memory

most vtubers are not original though,they all sounds the same with the fake highpitched voice,the avatars are either catgirls or demons

It’s also pretty hard to be original nowadays with how many characters there are nowadays. So my opinion is as long as you aren’t stealing designs from others or characters under an existing IP, then you’re free to use a design that you like. In the end, people will still stay for your personality and the design will just be secondary to that when it comes to streaming and making content.
Vtubing is mostly done as a hobby by people who enjoy it so i don’t judge anyone with how they choose to present themselves and how they find their audience. It’s just for fun and if it’s not for you, someone else might enjoy it.

It’s hard to not want to be one or the other. For the longest time, I’ve debated becoming a catboy but due to the large amount of them, i only turn into one on rare/special occasions just for fun since I’m a shapeshifter anyway ✌️
