- This multi-part tutorial series explores the in-depth details of the Leonardo MD-82 Maddog for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This is not a quick start guide. It is designed to dive deeper into the aircraft and its systems to provide you with a robust understanding of this unique jet. It should be obvious, but all of this information is for flight simulation purposes only.

I am not a real airline pilot, nor have I ever flown the real MD-82. All of my knowledge comes from reading manuals, talking to real pilots, other videos, and my own experience in the sim.

Thank you for the great explanations, especially of climbout and holding procedures and descent/approach planning!
Thanks, glad you found it helpful!
Thank you very much, the must complete tutorial I found so far and you are an amazing instructor.
Thank you so much!
Regarding the hold....EFC is the 'expect further clearance" time not the "effective time" which is basically when you can expect to leave the hold. If the EFC time comes and goes, you still have to continue holding because the hold point is your temporary clearance limit until ATC removes that limit, so a query to ATC just prior to the EFC time is usually a good idea.
Yes, I didn't mean to imply that when the time runs out you can just leave the hold. I was speaking simply for fuel planning purposes. Thanks for the clarification
thanks very much SIR! very very good tutorial!
Thanks so much for these videos... They have been of tremendous help.
Thanks for your kind words!
Awesome videos, the whole series is just top notch
I've got a question though, my gear doors wouldn't close. Bug or did I mess up something with the hydraulics?
Gear doors wouldn't close after you raised the gear or after the gear was down? If the latter, usually the case if you have to manually extend the gear, I think shift+g is the default command to do it.
Hey man, just watching this and is amazing! What’s the command you have to use in the controls for msfs to engage toga?
I actually don't use MSFS commands, I use SPAD, a video on which should be publishing tomorrow. If the MSFS TOGA command doesn't work then I'm afraid outside of something like SPAD or Axis and Ohs you may be resigned to use the screw (hidden button) on the panel
I’ve really been enjoying this series! Thank you for the stellar content.
Quick question, my vnav will not work. The button does nothing, change altitude, arm it, hit the button again, nothing. I’ve been using vertical speed. Any ideas? :/
Vnav issues is usually a symptom of the FMC not completely configured properly. Go into the Legs page and verify there are planned altitudes for all the waypoints. If not, check the perf init page for missing data. Beyond that I would need more specific info. For better troubleshooting help might I suggest you join my discord server as it is much easier to communicate back and forth there, link is in the video description.
@@moosestaffa83 Great, thank you!
I want trying to find something about stepclimbs in this video but it didn't happened to you. On the laat couple flights, when in cruise, instead of showing tod estimate in the fmc, theres nothing, but there is on the top right, the step climb which is like 2000 feet above my cruise level, is there anyway to get rid of that or what is the best action?
I'm not near my Sim for the next few days, but I would go into the cruise page and see if you can reset your planned cruise level to your current level. If that doesn't work, try the init page and see if you can reset the cruise level there.
Hi Moosestaffa, many thanks for these tutorials! may i ask you what is the name of the sim setting in order to managed the auto throttle with the bravo?
I'm not sure what you mean. I use a program called SPAD.NEXT to control all my hardware as it relates to MSFS. It allows much greater and customized control vs. What Microsoft settings offer.
Do you explain in any other video how to use the fire extinguish handles? I pulled it by Mistake and was trying to put it back in the air and wasn't able to.
Been a while since I pulled one of the handles. I believe you just click it push it back in, probably at the base where it comes out of the panel. If you click near the head it will probably turn and release the extinguisher fluid
What do you do to keep your aircraft on centerline so well? Mine seems to get very touchy on the rudder controls near V1.
Constant small movement of the rudder pedals. Unfortunately MSFS ground handling is not the best so it can be squirrely. It's even harder if you don't have pedals and are using a twist axis on a joystick as you don't have as much travel and therefore finer movement is much harder.
Hi.
What's the left side Speed window designate ?
I'm not sure exactly what you are asking.
