Not sure if I've commented on this already but I live about a mile from the old Avro factory in Chadderton, Oldham, where many if not most Lancaster's were built. Thinking of buying a Lancaster model in honour of that.
I think that's a great idea. There's something mesmerizing about those images of the Lancaster fuselages lined up in factories, in different stages of construction. To think what came of them all, and the crews that flew them...
The option of putting one half of the fuselage as a clear part in the kit is great, especially with this model as so much is going on in the inside. Yes, with hindsight I was taken in by the scale but really the detail isn't there. I saw a comparison between their 1:32 Mosquito and another (Tamiya's) and the difference was day and night. Then again, I guess their prices are generally lower too.
@@ModelNerd I don’t think the discount between the Tamiya & HKM Mossies quite reflects the difference in quality & detail. I say this having made both! Don’t get me wrong HKM make some lovely kits. I’ve done 2 of their B-17s. If only they did the wall mount on other big birds I’d love to do a Lanc, then again talking about price-quality differences I’d probably stretch to the Border masterpiece.
Oh, the Border kit looks fantastic. If they were to release just a cockpit section, I would definitely go for it.
Awesome! 😲👍
Thank you! Cheers!
At this scale the engines need all the wiring and plumbing
I agree they could have made more effort with the detail in this regard. When I look at the early shots of the (not cancelled, of course) WnW Lancaster....
Good work! Thank you
Thank you Norma.
Awesome!!!
Thanks Jefferson
Amazing build! What paints did you use for the camouflage?
Thanks. The paints were Tamiya RAF Dark Green and Vallejo Model Air for the Dark Earth. The black is Tamiya XF-1.
Model Nerd thank you! I am currently building an Lancaster and I find the model air dark earth way too dark for it. And the green I use is dark green by model air and that is not the colour im after. So now I just decided to mix my own brown-ish paint and I’m using an different green! Thank you for replying! Nice video man!
Hi really good job
