What Germany needs, wants and acts to get skilled immigrants are completely different from each other. The very fact that I waited over 6 months for a work visa, despite having a signed contract with a company was shocking back in 2017 as it is shocking for my younger family members going through the same nearly year-long process in a totally different country! There is no respect for skilled people, before coming here and even after move. I was even shouted at for not speaking German only 3 months in, in a foreigners office.

I came to Germany as a master's student, funded by the European Union. I am going to move somewhere else because of exactly what you said, being expected to speak German 3 months in is insane. German is not easy to learn, the Netherlands are much more tolerant about foreigners not speaking Dutch in the first trimester.

It's easy to cross into Germany if you simply throw away passport at the border. However, the bureaucratic marathon that skilled immigrants face is exhausting. Ironically, Germany has discontinued its program to accept Afghans who assisted the German army, as well as those who served as civil servants and judges. Now, these individuals are left at the mercy of the Taliban

Innovation and productivity need a positive atmosphere. Chinese, Mexcans, Indians, Vietnamese are producing quality products at double the rate for half the salary, making it extremely hard to compete. The economy is contracting but politicians are exploiting the situation for short term benefits.

@@malachi- What you said is so true but you have to push the reasoning until the end:
      a) the more the people are the same, smaller is the group and with time they become irrelevant and disappear. Except if you are cut/ protected from the world artificially like during the iron curtain era.
      b) the more the people are diverse, the bigger the group is, diversity brings new ideas, new angles, innovations, growth, success, conquests until divisions appear then chaos and then collapse. Unfortunately nothing lasts forever!!!
Conclusion: if you want to be safe and irrelevant stay between your family and neighbors but if you seek adventures, knowledge and greatness embrace diversity. Roman empire = diversity. British empire= diversity, French empire= diversity, Napoleon army= diversity. All great innovations come from ideas traveling from one side of the world to another, imagine US without the flux of immigrants, it would be a totally different country, just saying 🤷!

As for AfD advocating leaving the EU...correct me if I am wrong, but...when Germany adopted the EURO, the fact that the Euro-zone included countries with weak economies meant that Germany's products were priced more cheaply in the world market...thus making Germany's products far more attractive to foreign buyers. In short, the ultra-strong Deutsche Mark was a deterrent to the foreign market. Joining the EURO-zone boosted the German economy. Do the AfD supporters know this?

To leave the EU and relinquish the Euro does not make economic sense. Therefore, leaving the Euro will reduce the income of the AfD voters.

Let's imagine your dreamed Germany and the consequences:
no immigration means decrease of productivity, decrease of innovation because less young people, increase of wages but less sales because too expensive, more unemployment because of increase of salaries, less profit, faster aging population, huge taxes increase paid by smaller active population, underfunded health-care system (not enough money because based on taxes money),etc...
With the decrease of population, not enough active pop, decrease of productivity, profitability and innovation, aging pop, skyrocketing taxes to balance the system, Germany will find itself push from 3rd economy in the planet to the sick man of Europe as its situation would mimicking the worse periods of Italian economy in the last decades...too many old people, not enough young people, not enough jobs, too many taxes, stagnant economy, huge debts increase. BUT THAT'S JUST A THOUGHT, maybe there are some magician who can make it work! In this populist era, Power to the people, i hope that after the democratic choice of the population, if things go sour, the people will not start to complain like for Brexit. People can't have both way, they have to take responsibility for their choices.
